The issue is that literally everybody on the ship is ripped as hell now, be it the Doctor that does nothing but use scalpels and treat people or the couch potato SO just sitting at the console all day.

i'm personally in favour all the changes, the menu is tidy, the characters more realistic, some more fluff added (Greencard baaaaby)

I would still like to see the implementation of all non-helmets having cameras so we could see a wider variety of marine outfits but there you go.

It's not that bad. It's cool on it's own way. Character setup is tidy and so on, but maan do these characters need a face. Right now the chin and lips are just one grey shade of zombie-tier looks.

I don't like being that white I hope you can still have the neat tanned skin color available.

Ok honestly, these sprites aren't terrible. If you can get past the fact everyone is either sickly thin or sickly pale (sometimes both), they're okay. Besides, they look the most jarring on their own. Keep in mind almost everyone is gonna be wearing a uniform, and thus you'll almost never see them.

But I do have to ask...Why was this necessary? I get you wanted to go for a 'darker and edgier' look, but don't fix what isn't broken, you know?

I think the mouth and chin need to be more distinguishable because at the moment they're the same tone and make the face very skullish from the front also the skin tones could be less pale.

to those of you being super white, we have an ethnicity option that should affect skin tone, as well as a skin tone option.

I think I like the aesthetic the new sprites are going for but the shading needs adjusted in certain areas. Neck and trapezius don't transition well from head to clavicle. Also think the pectoralis needs to be little lighter transitioning into the abdomen. The shading also darkens too abruptly moving into the transverse abdomen. There's not much space to work with, especially to keep that outline which I think looks cool. I think the inner arms could be lighter to look less like noodles while keeping the outline on the outside. Lotsa words, if I get time to work in PS this afternoon I can post a sprite of what I mean.

There is no mouth and it is hard to distinguish the head from the rest of the background. Im content with these sprites beside this. Staff should update it.

Hey guys,

A lot of the anorexic looks come from the fact I'm using a dark border and more often than not we're displayed against dark tiles. I'm working on softening up the sprite a bit by reducing the contrast and increasing the vibrancy a bit.

Here's my current progress. The arms aren't as (seemingly) skinny and the jaw isn't as seemingly gaunt. I'll probably be using this as the base caucasian and adjusting accordingly.
Image

It will take me a little time to adjust everything, because we have a lot of different sprites I have to update. Once I take care of the skin tones, I'll start working on adding mouths since that seems to be a common complaint.

Please bear with me for the next few days while I make the adjustments.

I personally like the old sprites better, but the post-new sprites that are being worked on are beginning to look good, too. Can't wait for the sprite updates - I look like an anorexic weeb running around in a headband.
