How do you survive as a Survivor?
This question came to me after having a few of my first rounds as a survivor. It seems incredibly difficult to actually do the task given to you (survive), even when you group up with buddies and cade down a place with halfway decent weapons. After 10 minutes the xenos seem already ready to smash down your silly defenses, and "Young Runner (137)" knows your weapons usually do jack shit (unless you have a shotgun, of course).
I can't really come up with any GOOD ways to get out with your skin intact besides hiding in a locker (because thats just lame IMO).
So, here's a few of my personal questions that I have to discuss:
1. What is the best way to survive in general?
2. How do you like survive on [INSERT MAP HERE]?
3. What are some past rounds where you have managed to make it out?

Don't be not alive.
Seriously though, teaming up and finding a safe place to defend with guns is good, but if you make that spot somewhat hidden, you'll be more likely to live.
Also, you seem to vastly underestimate what bullets do to runners, especially young ones. Playing xeno and trying to kill survivors might help you a lot.

Re: How do you survive as a Survivor?
I'll admit that I don't really like playing Runner and Hunter and such roundstart. So yeah, I don't have too much experience with hunting survivors. It's just that the times I have faced off with Xenos (solo or with buddies), it always seems that they don't care as much about being hit.

Adapt, use your imagination. You have to think like a vanilla ss13 spessman and not like a Colonial Marine.
Sadly, I have forbid myself of giving away any more tips for survivor since players that read it exploit it to fuck the round survivors, so the few ones I still have will remain secret.
I can give you this thou: Xenos are creatures of habit. That means they'll do the -exact- same thing every round to find survivors

I can't go into specifics in fear of being found out, but their is really two choices- Break into the armory(And by then the Xenos are on you, they check armory fairly quickly) or run away and hide. Not saying you won't get weapons and/or tools on the way their, but mostly its a choice between the two.

Never hit armory first unless you spawn really close, find other weapons first.

Re: How do you survive as a Survivor?
As a survivor you can run and hide, or hunker down in a building. A gun is always useful, and having friends can sometimes be your greatest asset. If you are afraid of fighting you can always run, humans are faster than some Xenos. If you really hate the idea of fighting, hiding in a locker might be your ticket to life. Honestly though survivors can do some real damage, the Xenos you face all start young and that means they will spook easily, just by holding a shotgun you can scare a runner off. Also the CMB auto revolver has a burst fire mode which can obliterate things.

If you want to cade up somewhere, try to 1. Find a friend, 2. Get some guns with ammo, and 3. Find a place with the least amount of entrances. Reinforced walls are your friend, so the more of them the better.

Re: How do you survive as a Survivor?
Short answer: git gud
Proper answer: Get guns, get as far away from the hive as possible, fortify rooms/places with chokepoints. Remember to get rid of vents by disassembling the pipes or welding them.
Easiest map to hide on i feel is prison station since it is so large, so you just rush the armoury, then fortify either tcomms room through welding the door and placing barricades there. Or the warden's office which has the perfect 1 tile corridor you can place like 5 barricades in if you have a buddy with extra metal. Good thing about the large maps is that xenos can't be as bothered to get you if you're as far away from the hive as possible, and it's also harder for them to get reinforcements earlier on.
It is especially fun to fight in that 1 tile corridor in the warden's office with a shotgun, i managed to kill a runner and a sentinel there, and scare off another sentinel there. All at the same time due to xenos sucking when forced into close combat where they can't dodge shit.
You could also, hide.

Re: How do you survive as a Survivor?
Feels like the only good way of surviving is to just weld a door shut, throw up some barricades, weld any vents, and wait for either t2s or marines, whichever comes first. I think T1 aliens being able to devour full hp humans is kind've stupid, 2 runners can just chain knock you down and kill you if you don't just hide in a room.

Re: How do you survive as a Survivor?
the warden's office on prison is a pretty good choke point. with enough barricades and ammo, xenos won't be able to get you. unless they somehow manage to get a boiler over there before the marines arrive. Feels a bit iffy though, because it's right next to the landing pad.

Re: How do you survive as a Survivor?
Warden's office is pretty good, and I haven't gotten any BWOINKs about it.
Had a round yesterday that where me and two other survivors camped out in there, and had 4 layers of cades. We thought we were good, but suddenly 7-8 hunters and spitters flooded out of the unwrenched pipe. We forgot to dismantle one of the forward pipes in the choke, and they used that to their advantage.
That genuinely scared me. 7 hunters appearing out of thin air when you have no guns is bound to give anyone a spook.

Re: How do you survive as a Survivor?
I'm going to be honest. focus less on specifically surviving and instead having fun with being a survivor. Why would you want to hide away in the same spot for forty five minutes doing nothing over and over again? It's honestly gotten stale for me.
That round you were hiding in the Warden's office(I watched you get swarmed after I was dead) I went and grabbed the tactical shotguns from the Research armory and proceeded to start hunting down Xenomorphs myself, killing two while running around before I got swarmed. While in the hive I managed to lob a few grenades due to poor chaperoning.
Don't neccesarily need to be as aggressive but I certainly had more fun that way than hunkering down and waiting for the end to come or for marines to come where I'm promptly forgotten once I'm rescued.
