Honor Duels, any way how to deny them?

Post by Avalanchee » 08 Apr 2018, 15:32

So,
As most of you probably know
i am a good person and i dont want to hurt anyone
> I am TRASH at duels because my reaction time is -32 seconds.

But i still like roleplaying with predators. And here is my question, is there any way how to deny or run away from a honor duel as a healthy marine without any injuries so you don't piss the Pred off?

G'day m'yautja i am afraid that i am colorblind and that means i am at a great disadvantage so i can't fight u, have a nice day

Well, first off, honor duel as in an actual duel or just being hunted?

Second case is not a honor duel.

HAH! That's really funny. Half the predators will just use that as an excuse to plasma cast you to death because you're not honorable, or just slice your head off. Being injured just makes you more of a target for 'muh valdis.'
Granted, you can still do this, as that's only the case for about half the preds out their.

Most Predators aren't playing for kills, so either they'll find it funny and continue the interaction or just leave you alone.

Most common Predator RP is the Honor Duels. So wanting to RP with Predator, but not wanting to participate in duels is a bit conflicting. This could be more of an issue with Predators in general, cause rp interaction often involve with you dying or getting crippled. They could use different ways of interacting.

I mean, the first Predator movie had that scene where they dropped their weapons and it left them alone. Granted, it was just hunting them, but I imagine if their prey being unarmed is too dishonorable for them, then a duelist would be the same.

I'd say that'd only really work in the beginning though. If you're halfway through a fight and throw your weapon to the ground, you're surrendering instead of declining. Only the weak and dishonorable surrender.

True, but the salt against predators I harbor is never-ending.

My interactions have been one of three things.
Fighting xenomorphs, and watch as spikes/plasma bolts hit multiple marines, and I get 50 in my face as the pred runs around marines willy nilly.

Be an injured xenomorph fighting marines, and get suddenly attacked by the pred while in combat/taking a breather.

Be a xenomorph and raffing as 50 other xenomorphs gangbang a single pred to death. Then cry 30 seconds later as the chatbox is full of 'young runner 420 has died at dankmemes.'

Granted I've SEEN plenty of awesome predator shenanigans, it's just my personal, PC experience has been very negative.

Honestly, Honor duels is a iffy subject.

Being hunted in general is something you cannot avoid. If a predator decides he wants to kill you, expect to die. Maybe not now, but you'll die sooner or later.

An honor duel, however, is a different matter.

To have a predator offer to duel you would require they find you worth dueling in a fair fight. To accept it is to gamble your life for glory. To deny it is an offence.

Really, the best you can do is just ignore them and hope they kill you quickly for insulting them. But then, I don't really experience a lot of duels as a predator, so I wouldn't know how to handle being denied a duel since I haven't really offered one.

The only way to really get out of an honor duel alive is to either kill mr. predator dead, or fight well enough that he spares you or throws you back to a medic.

It's not terribly difficult to completely avoid them if you try enough though.

I had similar experiences myself, but that's because I don't actively seek out predator interactions, so I always end up collateral damage in some other pred vs marine/xeno fight. I still stand by that predators should be changed not mechanically but rules wise, so as to open up for different interactions.

Reno put it perfectly, if you deny an honor duel, you've insulted the pred and thus forfeited your life

As an experienced predator as myself. One doesn't simply run away or deny a honor duel. Many marines think every occurrence is an honor duel all predators some similar but some up to predator to just dispatch you.....delimb yah or delimb yer friends for such. Among honor code, like a elite hitman, yer on their Kill list whether you like it or not. You don't decide you are on their list, its up to the hunter. We predators decide if it is a honor duel whether in game gestures or stances or via translator. Also you think injuring as sorta powergame/meta move knowin such metaknowledge to prevent us from hurtin yah thats where honor code lopes around that loophole. Chuckin yer guns on ground don't mean much, we can just skin yah unarmed like that if needed. Honor duels quite I like however, always get either swarmed by marines/Xenos which we risk and the honor code does heavily explain special circumstances of the given issue or given effects.
"Young Carrier (920) (follow) hisses, "Shut up both of you or we aren't going to invade disneyland."

Long time ago, I, Ka'Torag-na Halkrath, Skilled Master Hunter Of Prey, Unleashed an unspeakable evil upon Xenos and Humans! But a foolish Xeno Hunter wielder of robustness stepped forth and opposed me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore a gate of Salt of Solitude and flung em into the world of CM, and took out their Facehugger Capabilities! Now, this Xeno Fool seeks to return the favour, and undo my evil reign and of many other predator predecessors!

This thread brings out so much of why preds are horrible gameplay wise. Almost all pred players in this thread are just saying “Yeah we’re gonna remove you from the round whether you like it or not, and there’s nothing you can do about it icly or oocly, have fun”

Idk what sort of mashochist marine player would want to enjoy an obvious one-sided duel and an eventual removal from the rest of the round, but i’m pretty sure they’d be a minority in this player base.

Predators are antagonist, we don't have to play nice or behave like white knights, if you're between the limits of the honor code to be hunted, you'll be hunted and that's it.

And tell me what this actually brings to the atmosphere of CM? The gameplay and honor code system built around preds is just for them to be mindless killing machines. How does this encourage more people to play CM, and why would this be fun for anyone that is already currently playing CM?

"Hey come play this game I'm playing" "Oh, sure what's it about" "Well basically it's aliens and one side of marines fights another side of aliens, both controlled by players." "Oh sounds like fun I'll try it out" "Yeah, forgot to mention though, about every 6 rounds there will be this unstoppable invisible dude that will almost always fuck some random marines day up 'because he can'"

Unstoppable?

I wouldn't say that. really, just shoot the bitch down, you'll see.

Besides, if atmosphere is what you saying here, some heavy sized humanoid that hunts your fellow marines THAT ARE DUMB ENOUGH TO BE ALONE and rips off their skulls from their bodies it's a damn good atmosphere for me.

I'd say xenos are worse than preds when it comes to mindless killing machines. For the record, have you read the honor code? it literally stops predators from being mindless killing machines.
