Prison survivors.
So, last night I was a survivor on prison. There were 4 survivors in total. Survivors on prison do not start with guns. And there are 2 area's with "good" guns and extra ammo.
1. The crashed ship that has turrets defending it.
2. The armory.
So being a survivor I went to the armory to get a gun.
The other 3 survivors were also there because you wont stand a chance otherwise (without a gun).
Not even a second after I got a gun. (I was the first to get one.) The first runner exited the vents.
And it did not take long for us all to die because of the other aliens arriving and we just could not beat 2/3 runners in the open.
Now, for me at the time it feels just a bit unfair and makes it 0 fun to be a survivor.
I do get that survivors are expected to die but I would still like an epic holdout.
Because the runner goes to the armory because he oocly knows we have to go there because of the not having guns.
And survivors do not stand a chance if aliens rush.
Now, I want to know how I as a survivor stand a good chance because like this living is hard. But also how others view this issue.

Re: Prison survivors.
I agree. It makes it 0 fun. Sometimes you'll get those special snowflakes who warn you before attacking, or just ignore you entirely unless theres no more furryhosts left.
Especially if they just kill you.
I hate aliens who just kill you without even thinking about capturing.

As a survivor, grab a gun and sprint to the wardens office, cut off the vents and barricade it.

Re: Prison survivors.
Survivors are rewarded for being quick.
Xenos are punished for being slow.
Survivors hole up in Warden's Office? Xeno's fault.
Survivors get caught early? Xeno's win.
Either way, it's not TOO bad of a loss. The marines will figure out about crabbing eventually, given time.
And four-to-seven hosts isn't always necessary to get. That's why we have the monkeys/farwas, with capturing marines being encouraged by the dev team as of recent things.
Xenos need to realize that capturing is more necessary than killing. Once we get a bigger focus on capturing prey, we'll benefit from it; ergo, survivors not being necessary. If we always try to get survivors-- in a blind retarded headstrong push-- we'll lose.

Re: Prison survivors.
I think the amount of xenos who just want to shit on a survivor's round even though in the grand scheme of things they are meaningless to the state of the round is too damn high. Immediately rushing to where the survivors essentially HAVE to go to just to kill them/capture them, even though they have been alive for about 3 - 5 minutes and then dragging them all the way to the hive, facehug them, and then directional dancing on their nested body, spamming roars, and other nonsensical shit, it just makes me think that these xeno players just want to cause tremendous salt and ruin what is in my opinion one of the most unique roles. I don't like how survivor can be RNG dependent on where you spawn, given how even a 10 - 30 second delay on acquiring weapons could just mean gg, your round is over. I also don't like the idea of survivors killing a bunch of bald xenos who try to replicate this but die as a cocky, overconfident young runner to buckshot. I just find it wierd how i'm legitimately enjoying survivor more if I just immediately hide in a locker and pray that some xeno isn't spending the entire 30 minutes before marines show up specifically trying to ruin my round and contribute essentially nothing to the hive, especially with how many xenos would rather fuck with survivors rather than weeding, collecting monkies, breaking windows/apcs, doing anything really useful to the hive essentially.
This post kind of sounds salt filled and I can't possibly say with a straight face that there is zero salt behind it, but I do think its to the point of bad manners at some point.
EDIT: Also not a fan in particular that on prison station, basically the ONLY thing you can do as survivor that guarantees anything is rushing to armory and then immediately to warden's office, no deviation from this ever I find.

Re: Prison survivors.
As a Xeno I rush the survivors every round I can. It really is the best course of action, especially on Prison.
I think that if you're playing survivor and aren't comfortable with the idea of being a part of the first burst wave you must be approaching the role with the wrong mindset.

Re: Prison survivors.
Survivors can give marines essential information, so it's on the xeno's best interests to infect or kill them. I personally prefer to always infect, but, you know, you gotta do what you gotta do.
Unfortunately there are few possible variations as a survivor if you intend to play the whole round. Each map has its own strategies, and rarely deviations pay off.

The research armory also has tactical shotguns if you spawn closer to it than the crashed ship or security armory. Those will rock a young runners' world.

Re: Prison survivors.
Survivors give marines information that literally doesn’t matter for any other reason than RP. Xenos love to go out of their way to kill survivors. I’ve had entire hives dedicate themselves to killing me. The majority of the time they don’t even try to infect.
Survivor is a useless roll that you should only play if you wanna play as a first wave xeno. Tick xeno and survivor and if you don’t get xeno then you’ll get first wave.

I am pretty sure if they go around opening lockers you can report them. Don´t quote me on this though.yogurtshrimp69 wrote: ↑08 Apr 2018, 20:00I think the amount of xenos who just want to shit on a survivor's round even though in the grand scheme of things they are meaningless to the state of the round is too damn high. Re: Prison survivors.
There's little about survivors that isn't meta. If they want to survive they need to know the layout of the map, where to find guns and where to fortify. Or take a bet on which areas are less frequented by xenos and hide long enough for the marines to arrive.
I'm giving you the extra motivation for xeno players, but they are completely justified in hunting down the survivors as they are hosts, and dangerous ones at it.
Prison is the easiest place to survive in any case, as the warden office is so easy to secure.

Re: Prison survivors.
Capturing and infecting survivors actually gives the Ayys a significant tactical advantage early game. It forces up to 3 players to play xeno in the early game where numbers are the most important for the Ayys. This is extra true since survivors are often played by veteran players who will be a massive help to the hive. Having said this, it's bullshit to meta-rush the armory and wait for survivors, but I doubt it's an enforceable rule.

Re: Prison survivors.
Prison survivor is one of the most fun times I can possibly have as a survivor whether it be me taking the Warden's hat from the office and claiming the prison as my own because who's gonna' stop me? The corpses laying all around me or the xeno hive which I am now obligated to fight due to their senseless young runner (420) bloodlust?
I once managed to collect the other four survivors and take root in the crashed ship with all the MAR-40's and turrets and fight the USCM because we claimed to be pirates, we killed some of them and they ended up wiping us, it was for RP and boy was it fun. Other times, you just grab an HG from the armory and trudge up to the Warden's office to just set up a line of five barricades with barbed wire that the xenos will inevitably try to get through and you just chuck the incendiary grenades at them.
Prison is arguably one of the easiest survivor rounds, and in order from my survivor experience,
Prison > Big Red > Ice > LV
LV might be the shittiest play to play as survivor due to lack of guns and places to hide, you just end up getting your ass throttled every time due to just lack of gear.

Re: Prison survivors.
The worst part of survivors is that you never survived. You're supposed to have survived for several days.
Like, the odds of you just running around like Newt and hiding in places while everyone got murdered? Highly unlikely for 5 different people.
There should be some sort of defense, maybe some sort of overturned table with spent shells and a corpse or two. Maybe survivors could spawn in half wrecked barricades that spawn randomly every round.

Re: Prison survivors.
I've only survivor'd twice and the key seemed to be getting into a narrow defensible space where you can fall back behind a few layers of defense. Wardens office is your best bet on Prison.

True, although nowdays 5/7 times I did not manage to reach the wardens office. The aliens showed up before I even left the amory. So that is a full on rush. Re: Prison survivors.
The xeno bloodlust for survivors never ends until the Queen literally threatens the xenos or the marines show up. If you are a fresh survivor, you are going down. If you are a survivor that's killed any xenos, you are definitely going down as the whole hive descends on you for killing one young runner. The bloodlust is so bad that particularly robust survivors can really dent the hive, especially in the Warden's office, by killing xenos who literally will do nothing else but try and get to them, even past the point of avenging numbers. Shit tradeoffs like 4 young runners for one host? Having drones weed up all the way to Warden's office rather than weeding or building the hive? Hell i've seen boilers die trying to get the warden's office, because marines show up and no way a boiler is going to run away easily.
