YESS. Full on training round. Pre-round query to use random name, and - if you go for head, your job is to train people. If you queue for sub-role, you at least should not "main" it. Would need MASSIVE mentor support though, as basically, this would be incentive to mess around with roles you never touched, have little to no expirience with etc.

Because peer pressure. Nobody likes to be called baldie just because they decided to try something new, and are slow at it. How many people dropped Doctor/Medic because they tried it, and found themselves in a spot where literally every marine gave them [REDACTED] for beeing slow.

Of course, this means if xenos are even available, they would rotflstomp whole marine corps. Because nobody aside from SLs, XO/CO, and Chiefs would have any idea how stuff works.

Would give me a reason to try out MP. While marine law is quite understandable, the amount of gray area and the proper conduct... well, lets say that new MP players get a hard time to do stuff properly. They either powertrip, or are way too lenient.
I'd be really interested in doing this, either as a one-off or a semi-regular thing. I've been slowly expanding which roles I play by just jumping in with the wiki open but am now at the point where I want to learn medic and CT, but the idea of taking one of those slots and then killing everyone with sheer incompetence/making the req line somehow even longer than it normally is terrifies me.

I really enjoyed the HvH round a few days ago where the event began with reports of a UPP spy planting a power sink before suicide bombing the memorial garden gathering. I was an SO doing indoctrination with my squad in the bunk room when the bomb hit, and it felt like that scene from Starship Troopers where RIco hears that the bugs whacked Buenos Aires. After that, it became a normal UPP boarding round but the warm-up was fun.

I think that possibly a UPP vs. Zombos round to give us a break from marines and xenos would be excellently nice and much appreciated from having to deal with people complaining with OP marines or OP xenos.
Anyways, the story behind it is that the UPP were testing in a captured W-Y facility, they find a mysterious virus and begin to test it, at first it seems to just be a very lethal biological agent, but after a doctor begins to perform an autopsy the body reanimates and kills the doctor infecting him as well, this will lead to a the beginning of the unknown for the UPP as they struggle to find the cure and also struggle, meanwhile the plague later spreads to the rest of the medbay. As the UPP (live playerbase) struggles to escape and set up a stronghold against the hordes...the only cure being somewhere in medbay, easy enough to grab, however that is also in the heart of the infected area, and it may require some hacking and heavy fighting to grab, and then you must purge the rest of the infected and eliminate them all.

So I did my first event last night and it was met will mixed success. I spawned a few powerloaders in, renamed them USCM Combat Exosuits and spawned in several people with tank crew gear and max powerloader skills to operate them. There was a magnificent March into briefing. With most everyone going "what the fuck" In one way or another. I told the marines to follow commands orders (but not to use the tank under any circumstances) and left it at that. Well command must have overestimated the powerloaders combat abilities and sent them, alone, to scout out the far side of the wearhouse (the map being ICE). They uh... died pretty quick to say the least. Reinforcements came a bit too late. And both marines and aliens wound up having a huge pitched battle just north and east of hydro. Also in order to balance it out (which was totally unnecessary it turns out) I spawned the xenos a Ravager, Lurker and a Spitter.

If you were a part of the round I would love to hear your feedback and criticism on the event.

Well, first let me just say for the record that command had like, no fucking clue what to do with them. They didn't even get orders to board a dropship at the time.
Hell, we didn't even know where they were when they got 'five kills' and then started screaming "They're all around us! SEND HELP, HOLY SHIT WE'RE SURROUNDED! AGGH!"

The screams, man. I immediately sent Delta to help-- By the time they got there all I heard was "They're taking me out-- They got me! "T-T-THEY GOT ME O-OUT OF THE LOADER!" "OH G-GOD, A-AGGH!" and other screams of suffering powerloader operators. Delta comes across a few loader remains, and then HEAVY contact. I think, two or three of the powerload crew were dragged out of some dark corner and revived, only to perish when the front collapsed as the tank did some kind of awkward shuffle outside of dorms.

The idea was good, but the execution ICly went pretty bad. Plus, not the best map for powerloading exo suits-- Deep snow and tight spaces preventing easy navigation.

Did another event last night. Fairly small as well. I'm calling this one "Predator Apprentice." I found in the code a "human+", something pretty much better than base humans in most ways. So I spawned them on the ship as Apprentices to the Pred players. Along with some choice equipment that made them strong, but not too strong. From my point of view everything went quite well. There was a ton of interaction and RP between the Apprentices and the Preds, and even a fair bit between the Apprentices and the Marines. All three of the humans said they enjoyed the experience, though they admitted to being a bit intimidated by the Predators role play (they are big scary gruff people). And all three of the apprentices even wound up with their own kills. Dchat seemed to enjoy it as well, which was something I was a bit worried about. While there are somethings I would like to change around, I'm happy to say that the next time I run this event I'm going to open it to the general player base. So If I ask for volunteers in OOC or Dchat, it could be your chance to get in and get a little taste of what the predators do. I'd also like to now go ahead an open this up for any comments, concerns, gripes, grievances, and suggestions on the event. And if you participated with the event in anyway I'd love to hear your stories as well!

I liked this one, It was a bit strange at first sight, but I realized most apprentices were admins which I can understand because you can't trust the run of the mill player with pred shit. I also know you can't force RP but you should give the players that are well known for good RP a shot at it or something. Idk tho, great event Grim.

I wasn’t around for the Predator event sadly but it sounds like it went well, I would be glad to see more of it.

It has a few benefits, but namely among them it causes more RP for Predators and gives them things to do besides hunt. Overall this could raise the opinions people have of Predators and just inspire generally a better environment with them.

Would it be possible to add side missions?
As an example, while you do a common HvXeno round, add a tiny UPP commando to do their things, hijacking the Almayer or just abducting marines.

Or using more often the corrupted xenos.
Or having to retrieve an actual item for the CL to get extra Req points.
Or having prisoners that actually wanna break free and resists a it.

Really, anything that isn't major but would make rounds less repetitive.

Most 'small' events are already kinda like side missions, but if you're talking about events that have some gameplay benefit . . . IDK about the other admins and stuff but I occasionally do events like that, though I haven't been around the past month due to IRL stuff.

Basically, grab 5 guys at the beginning of a round and shove them as UPP with a specific mission, as an example. Doesn't require TOO MUCH of administration and that'll give an unusual additional objective for 5 + rest of players.

Really, I don't see that often at all. It's either BiG aSs EvENt or regular round and I believe that breaking the routine with none major mini events would be very appreciable.

Just mu opinion tho, but beside events, CM rounds are all almost the same since 3 years :P.

Might be a bit silly but what about a pizza restaurant that is staying open even during the xenomorph infestation. Maybe using the pizza ERT they could be set up in a little shop with supplies of food and drink and serve the marines planetside while they have downtime. They could perhaps use equipment or xeno corpses as currency in order to buy their meals like in other shop events. Not a deadly serious event but I think it could be a fun one.

Last night Zombie round was pretty fun, although I have a feeling hull window glass and docking bay shutters did half of the work - https://youtu.be/-H0nX1ZsvYo?t=2831 . If this mode becomes more common, it would be nice to give zombies some ability to deal with those more effectively. Pounding at hull window for 10 minutes is not exactly the most fun thing out there...

As much as I enjoy a CLF into zombie round, not giving Researchers an option to research the cure or even burn zombie corpses wasn't that ideal. At that point, once you have a few zombies around, it's just a question of whether SD gets triggered or not. At least give us a chance. Heck, it could be a hardmode - zombie virus gets introduced late, so it's harder to research the cure and what not. At least that way we would have that sliver of hope so our defeat would feel all the greater ;).
