With the (relatively) new queen updates, she has certainly become a death machine. The changes definitely changed the Xeno meta, however since I rarely play Xeno, I'm hoping some Xeno/Queen mains can help me out here with a few questions.
I understand that the queen has expanded overwatch/command abilities (ability to view past traditional view range while in ovi-mode/evolution only occurring while queen is in ovi-mode. These updates imply that for the betterment of the hive, the queen should generally be in Ovi-mode. On the other hand, the queen has gotten a MASSIVE offensive boost while mobile. She can be a one-xeno killing machine and really make or break a xeno push. Obviously these two play-styles cannot be used simultaneously. My guess is that the Devs want a competent queen to know when to switch between competent commander and killing machine. Still, since the queen role is not white-listed, I feel like this can lead to queen players choosing one or the other almost exclusively. Obviously this hasn't been the case, (since the xeno win-rate lately has been great,) I'm wondering how this new queen update has actually played out. Can any Xeno mains fill me in on the nitty gritty details or correct me where I'm wrong?

Re: Xeno Queen Meta Discussion/Question
Well, for me it seems they want to prevent early unneeded queen deaths. They want to have the queen be strong but also an end boss. Now you wont fight on the frontline as queen until they either attack the hive or you have to attack the marines. The queen is now a lategame enemy and not something to hunt down early.

Re: Xeno Queen Meta Discussion/Question
It’s hard to balance a game where both sides have extreme variance of skill level, especially where one role is easily the most important of the rest of one of the sides.
I believe most of the queen updates were made to make for interesting gameplay for both sides, and having to play around whether the queen is ovi’d or not and the xeno hive as a whole is slightly stronger, or you have to play around the queen being out on the battle field being a near death machine, depending on skill level.
Most of this has been achieved, and most queens will know that their ovi is important to the hive, and when t assist with sieging/defending the hive.
Though, the real problem is when the two extremes of the skill level start to show. For much less unknowledgeable people, they’ll just never ovi and assume their some sort of drone+ role and fuck over the entire hive. While on the other side when you get a much more robust xeno main, the queen just feels overtune on that player, and they can easily solo carry a round by just ovi’ing for 30 minutes, then going combat queen for the rest of the round. (Symb, for example)

An enlightening statement that says so much, yet so little.

Re: Xeno Queen Meta Discussion/Question
As a marine player I am enjoying the changes.
Now you rarely see any t3s, huggers are a thing of the past, and the minor buffs to the Queen in contrast to the bigger nerfs to Xenos means m AP rounds go that much further.
I went from about a 70/30 winrate to 90/10 especially on high pop rounds.
A+ changes
