are you volunteering to play ct or ro to copypaste what youre out of for every goon that asks or volunteering to write and distribute said note (which will inevitably go unread)?
put your money where your mouth is, fuckers. play ro and ct, every damn round, if you got the procedure down pat and are insistent that they are not actually shit and bad jobs, see how long your patience lasts
What is it with these late deployments?

Such hostility. Anyway, I'm not arguing that it's a bad job or not, I'm just arguing that the situation you made up can be fixed by that. Also I've played RO and CT plenty of time, heck I even used to do it every round until I found doctor to be even more fun for me.misto wrote: ↑05 May 2018, 20:26are you volunteering to play ct or ro to copypaste what youre out of for every goon that asks or volunteering to write and distribute said note (which will inevitably go unread)?

Being the idea guy is easy, so tell me how you can bring automation into such a job then ? Only way out of the Req line is attachment vendors in prep, and then you'll still have AP, webbing and pouches,.... to worry about. Are you putting those in marine prep too ? That will take even more work to balance out the numbers, because currently, on high pop, you'll have about 16 AP mags in a vendor (it's probably more but I don't remember the exact number); and if the number is not reduced, you'll have 16 AP mags in each squad. Let's say you have 8 PFCs, and 2 of those are using shotties, the 6 PFCs and their Specs, SLs will each have 2 AP mags to shoot benos with.
Even then, what about the ordering console ? Are you bringing automation to that too ? Or will you leave that to the RO ? If you leave the ordering to RO/CT and take away everything else about their job, the job would get even more booooring for them.
Also also, we're just talking about first deployment, yet the situation you made up is very late into the game, to the point where you don't have VGrip or RDS left (both have about 30 in high pop), and people shouldn't expect their shits at that point.

Re: What is it with these late deployments?
Here's an idea for automation that keeps the Cargo crew involved:
Attachment punch cards.
At the start of both req lines, put a wall-mounted dispenser that spits out the punch cards. Marines take these, and while waiting in line, poke out the holes corresponding with what attachments they want.
At the counter, they hand the punch card to the RO/CT who looks it over. If it's not a PFC demanding seven barrel chargers, they stamp it and feed it into the attachment vendor, which spits out a box containing the attachments.
Box is given to the marine. CT/RO still has to manually fetch non-attachment requests. Having to stamp the card means marines can't just hop over the table and get the unga themselves.

Why dont we just have people pre-select their loadout in the character preferences.
Consumables can be picked up at floating powerup icons that recharge after a cooldown.
We could get rid of all that medbay nonsense the same way.
Heck, why dont we just skip the dropship and spawn the marines directly on the planet.
Instead of having the xenos push the marines off planet and storming the ship, we could just keep track of rounds with some kind of kill scoring system and end the rounds when either team reaches a certain score.
We could even give players special abilities if they earn so many points in a single life. Call it a kill-streak bonus or something edgy like that.
Get some gltich dubstep in the lobby and invite all the streamers. CM MLG division in no time.

Re: What is it with these late deployments?
and here comes the mocking exaggerations. see this whenever anyone proposes changes to the precious dumbass timewasting traditions
you can keep req people involved in the process by them still needing to restock attachments into the vendor machine once it runs out, if you insist. then it's almost like how a doctor needs to jam someone into the autodoc, a compromise that has been accepted for months now. thus you still have human involvement when it comes to purchasing and restocking the attachment and grenade vending machines, youre just saving A TON OF TIME by not having to manually pop the candy into the mouth of each and every ape that comes begging to the window

I hoped that my topic would end it but we still had a 38 deployment. That is a full 13 minutes late. Almost 2/3 of the prep time.

30 marines in the ship xo announces briefing at 12:30! at 12:15 all marines were geared up already. The aliens would like to thank the xo for him giving them the time to kill all survivors and become ancient!
