Is xeno fun right now?
Well? Is it?
Personally I don't feel like it is because you just shit on everyone and as long as your queen isn't dumb, you're likely to win.

If you play xeno, it's very goal oriented - go out, weed, capture, break. You don't have much time to "roleplay". It's a much different game than when you're playing a Marine.
Winning as xenos is not as guaranteed as it was a few weeks ago where you could rofl stomp your way to victory every game. Recently the xenos usually manage to push their way onto the Almayer, but their victory is not certain.
I personally have fun with xenos. I like weeding everywhere and melting everything as a Drone. Being the Queen is also fun, if not frustrating at times.

Re: Is xeno fun right now?
It depends on what you like, if you play CM for the combat gameplay then you'd enjoy playing as a xeno right now. Not much chance of roleplay as ThePiachu said though, but that can change depending on who you're playing with/against. You could end up fighting a bunch of ungas who can't set up a proper FOB or you could be fighting four delta squads, the same goes for xenos, sometimes you get great buddies and other times the only interaction you have with them is when they say "I call ravager" at roundstart.

Re: Is xeno fun right now?
being a xeno can be a fair bit more challenging at times, moreso once the tank comes into play.
While logistics is easier for xenos for the most part, ensuring a good hive balance is not. Now moreso than ever, there is always a chance that a hive might seem lacking in certain areas, and if you have too many of one type of case, it can cripple you for awhile until balance either restores itself or you all die horribly.
Depending on your role, you can expect a fair bit of busywork too... Being a drone is tiring, moreso if other drones aren't doing their part to help.
But overall.. It can be quite satisfying to get marine kills, provided you know how to play your caste. Ripping off limbs and watch marines panic is such a thrill.. But so is being a queen and watching your own xenos accomplish such things.

Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

Re: Is xeno fun right now?
Playing as certain xenos (like Runner) is like the one of the only things that still gives me PVP shakes. No other games besides maybe eve online does that for me and therefor it feels pretty great and fun to me. There are obviously less intense xeno roles but most of them are also pretty fun. Nothing better then gassing an entire squad in an elevator as boiler or husking that pessky spec, cutting off limb after limb as ravager or running over marines as crusher, cutting of the hydro/nexus route as lurker so good that marines react to it. The list goes on. There are allways fun and intense moments I feel like.

The condition known as "Xeno Boredom" is directly proportional to the amount of spinning xenoes present.

"It was a fantastic round. If the CO hadn't cryo'ed before the end I'd have bothered him to give at least two more medals. To PFC Max Dallas, who kept doing the path between the frontlines to FOB (the only place with medical aid) with a roller bed, and saved a lot of marines who'd have husked otherwise. And to Dr. Haley Altman, who after all medics were gone was fixing us time and again for hours straight. At the end there were over 10 patients around her either dead or in crit, and she just kept going."

Xeno gameplay can be fun if you enjoy combat or just want to do something different once in a while.
Just don't expect any RP from xenos. I've rarely seen them RP with predators, but it's unlikely to happen.

Re: Is xeno fun right now?
The exciting part for me is fighting marines pushing into the hive, the thing is nowadays that only lasts for about 20 minutes of a game.
The rest of the 1-2 hours is fighting marines hiding behind barricades at the front/FOB/CIC/SD. The thing with fighting marines at barricades is that there is not much strategy. Your class is pretty much irrelevant as the barricades block the vast majority of xeno abilities, so whatever caste you are your job is pretty much just to slash the barricade once or twice then heal for a minute and repeat. There is no opportunity to risk your life to capture a marine, there is no opportunity to use your special abilities, there is no chance to try and outplay 3 marines and kill them by yourself while risking being crit. You just slash the barriacde and rest, repeated for 2 hours.
Personally I'd like if they made barricades weaker, but gave marines something to sustain pushes for longer (i.e better meds or something) so that the most interesting part of the match lasted longer. Its kind of boring when you have 40 xenos attacking barricades because you know the game is pretty much over and there is nothing really exciting or challenging for you to do, so you are pretty much waiting for the next round.

this is pretty true actually, defending cades is super boring for both sidesSaytkl77 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2018, 16:50The exciting part for me is fighting marines pushing into the hive, the thing is nowadays that only lasts for about 20 minutes of a game.

The winrate is honestly too lopsided right now for me to enjoy Xeno. Might feel differently in the future.

Re: Is xeno fun right now?
Xenos are only fun if you don't want any sort of challenge or effort on your part as the player. Regular privates can only be a threat with buckshot or AP mags, so the xenos just bowl over most marines.
