game only lags when someone shoots at me, how to resolve this?

hello, ive only experienced alot of ordinary lag this game has like when im around a whole lot of players and i know partially of that comes from it all being on this large server and all but whenver its less laggy, when somene shoots at me or when i make contact with an enemy my screen will just freeze for 5 seconds straight and then bam im dead, anyone know why this might be? or is there anything i can do to fix this, i know i am for sure not the only one forced to deal with the lag problems this game has which means other people may have their methods so would you be so kind as to show me some of yours? much thanks and appreciated.

I've encountered this alot, when playing ravager and hit by 6-7 bullets the game will suddenly freeze for a second and then render the bullet text log. Its very strange, there is zero lag when someone shoots 7 bullets into someone standing next to me, but when I am hit the game freezes like you say.

I wish the devs would at least allow you to remove the ability to have being hit in your text log until its fixed, makes it very hard to play xenos.

when I play marine on highish pop and xenos show up my game freezes for multiple seconds or even the connection drops. Probably because all marines start shooting. I guess when the server is overloaded some clients are left behind, maybe the ones with higher latency. I don't think anything can be done on client side.

This could be byond behaviour or something on the server. Eg. I can imagine it's useful for a webserver to serve a couple clients well and lock out others until there are enough resources, less useful for a fair gaming environment.

Well, only huge lag I get is the very beginning of the game when everyone spawns at once. Then I have some micro freezing time to time, but nothing game breaking really.

It won't let you play if you don't have a beta version of client. Also how do I clear cache?
