A Idea: Union of Progressive People occasionally

Occasionally (maybe 1/100 times) instead of survivors add a 5 man Union of Progressive People team on site with the objective to extract a artifact from the aliens hive. It would add a little spice.

Just a thought.

You can pretty much only get 2 scenarios from this. Either the UPP team is somewhat robust and really cuts down on the xeno number before marine's deployment, hurting xeno's chance of winning greatly (or just fucking clears out the roundstart xeno and the queen); or the UPP team is full of baldies and xeno just get 5 hosts for free or with minimal losses (like one or 2 xeno is what I consider minimal)

You just described what happens on big red every round if all the survivors get to security and secure the HG shotguns.

We do that with events, and sometimes is more common than you think.

Ha, that's nothin...

back in the hugger combat days, before xeno pop scaled and back when survivors were limited to 3, every now and then you'd get a round where the survivors band together and take on the xeno swarm themselves, doing considerable damage to the hive or (in at least one case) wiping out the hive entirely... BEFORE THE MARINES EVEN LANDED.

I was there when it happened, it was trippy as balls.

The idea of putting down UPP planetside at round start would be like pre-hugger combat nerf but on steroids, considering that all UPP weapons use AP rounds by default.

Or we could flip the roundtype. Have a large force of UPP on the surface that starts, with a small-ish group of already-mature/elite xenos without a queen.

The marines would be fighting the UPP and both sides would get harassed by the xenos throughout the round.
