Public Service Announcement: Xenomorphs do not need to call the dropship a "bird"
I'd like the preface this by saying that, if you like to call stuff by these weird alien names, that's fine, that's cute, but: if you're the type of person that asks a fellow Xenomorph "What's a dropship?" I can personally assure you that you are annoying and nobody likes you (I'm kidding, but it is annoying after a while).
Call a shotgun a shotgun
Call a rifle a rifle
Call a tank a tank
Guns are not "metal spitters", they are guns. Not only does the Hivemind know what guns are, but it doesn't care what you call them.
Awan said it best on Daturix's moderator application, after Daturix said they would confront a Xenomporph player using the regular words for things:
"Hivemind is the english interpertation of the xenomorph language. So calling it a dropship would be fine and this would not be a rule break."
The only thing that would be "immersion breaking" would be using proper nouns. Don't call Dropship One "The Alamo," et cetera, et cetera. The only exception for this would be things like "The Nexus," or other place names that the Xenomorphs would know about.
You know what Xenomorphs shouldn't know about? Turtles. Birds. These are animals you or you local Hivemind has never seen before. There might be a turtle or bird on some of these maps, but there's no reason why there should be. They evolved on Earth, you're lightyears away from their native range.
EDIT: If staff tells you to "roleplay as an alien" when you don't call the dropship a bird, tell them that you don't have to. If they persist, make a staff report here.

Re: Public Service Announcement: Xenomorphs do not need to call the dropship a "bird"
I suggest giving xenos more ridiculous names so that they feel jealous to not use ridiculous names on us anymore.
Queen is now : Loud nope
Crusher is : Stomp nope
Ravager is : NOPE
Lurker is : Cloakynope
Spitter is : Yikes nope
Boiler is : Gross nope
Drone is : Bwahaha Buckshot !
Runner is : Was there something under my boots ?
Larva is : nope rope, or danger noodle.
Carrier is : danger cup noodle, because more noodles because of him
Hivelord is : big ass nope, because he has a big ass
YOU DO NOT CALL OUR DS A BIRB. THAT'S VERY INSULTING FOR US. The more you call it a Birb, the more we will call you Nopes ! YOU ARE WARNED XENOS.

honestly, the options for xenomorphs to chat should just be removed since it’s not part of the lore. They should communicate through pheromones and interpretive dance

You joke but xenos used to not be able to understand each other out of Hivemind.

Benos need some way to entertain themselves on this high RP server. We need our dance routines and creative language!

Xenos should prioritise clarity of communication over RPing names but if you don't call the shuttle the metal birb when i'm queen i'll devolve you back to an embryo.

Clearly we need to add pet turtles and birds back into the game on all maps so that xenos have a justifiable IC reason to use those words.

Re: Public Service Announcement: Xenomorphs do not need to call the dropship a "bird"
When I play queen I like to roleplay about it a bit. Roundstart I will call that "bird with tallhosts has landed" , but later (as we capture more and more marines) I will start calling stuff their names with few mistakes. Like dropship will be "dropping ship", CIC will be "combat individuality center" and so on

Yes, by the rules of our server, they are forbidden from any metagaming actions. Like metarushing or metatargeting without ic reason

Rules regarding calling things exactly what they are in HIvemind have been removed years ago

Ha, that's a pretty funny and unique way to roleplay it.NethIafins wrote: ↑03 Aug 2018, 03:16When I play queen I like to roleplay about it a bit. calling the tank a turtle hilarious because they're terrified of it now so hivemind is always full of "NO THE TURTLE IS COMING"

actually, since the crushers can block it, ive seen packs of crushers going out for the sole purpose of tank hunting

I mean, every tank takes the flamer now so that doesn't actually seem like a great idea.Jaketeaking wrote: ↑03 Aug 2018, 15:34actually, since the crushers can block it, ive seen packs of crushers going out for the sole purpose of tank hunting

Fortunately fire doesn't actually do anything to crushers. Phew.

Re: Public Service Announcement: Xenomorphs do not need to call the dropship a "bird"
honestly, I like it when xenos give weird names to things.
It adds a certain charm to it, like calling the tank a "Metal beast" or the Almayer the "great bird".
Xeno speak may just be a translation of what they say, but that doesn't mean it is exactly like a human. Even in real life, different cultures may refer to things in different ways.

I'm going to call it a bird and there's literally nothing you can do to stop me.
