WHISKY OUTPOST AT 2AM WAS LIT
I never thought I would see it again holy shit. It's a wave defense mode and it kicks ass.

fought all the way from the frontlines to the base as we slowly fell due to people not closing barricades, lost all my buddies along the way and ended up being the last one in the CIC with some boys as we prepped our final defense, I killed a shitload of gooks that day and I have no regrets. sorry to the bazillion people I probably FF'd.

Haha, I was stationed closing doors as close to the front as I could get. I didn't focus on killing but managed to get 4 smaller aliens because there's so damn many, even with being in medical so many times in the game.Karmac wrote: ↑10 Aug 2018, 04:12fought all the way from the frontlines to the base as we slowly fell due to people not closing barricades, lost all my buddies along the way and ended up being the last one in the CIC with some boys as we prepped our final defense, I killed a shitload of gooks that day and I have no regrets. sorry to the bazillion people I probably FF'd.
I tried to keep the doors shut but it's hard when people wait outside already broken walls and don't come back in until they're literally on fire and for some reason think it will help them to open the cade and run in screaming as an alien dances on their head.

yeah I shot a lotta guys trying to run through the cades as they had xenos running right up on em, hell I blasted patton when he tried to run out of medbay just after the mortars hit the xenos about to raid it, I thought I'd finish em off before any of them got back up and BLAM, CO's back on the ground

This. It happened so many times. One person can't stop a flood of 2390742897 aliens in a narrow box.

It was kinda dumb watching marines loot req like savages. But besides that both rounds were pretty cool.

Re: WHISKY OUTPOST AT 2AM WAS LIT
The game mode was really fun!
However, a few things:
- A fair amount of odd items need to be added - I had people asking for Medical HUDs, medical pouches, I personally could use some body armour as a researcher, or a firefighter's hat, etc. Heck, I had problems even finding a crowbar to open crates in forward medbay...
- The place is very very dark - buildings could use some higher-wattage bulbs
- First line of defence needs to be more interesting. Otherwise people will just send all 4 squads to defend it and that would be that. Maybe it would be cool if initially you had 4 points to defend, that would collapse into 2 points, and then into 1 point? Or heck, just give xenos access to all 3 frontlines from the get-go or something
- Game can get laggy towards later waves - some good garbage cleaning routine would need to be added to remove everything that's not useful

Whiskey Outpost really needs some welding fuel tanks aswell, or fuelpacks for the engineers; just 20 units of fuel for repairing barricades and setting up sentries is really low.

old whiskey outpost was three lanes that fell back into 4 holdout points before your final base that could be flanked on all sides something fierce, it's much better as it is now. I disagree with it being boring thoroughly, when that line starts to fall shit gets wild.

Proud to build the defenses on the second and third one in the base. That's for sure. Not sure how we made the third one without an actual high ranked commander. I had to run to the console and pull the marine forces back when the base was getting sieged. Good times for all though.

Nothing can ever compete with first Whiskey. Holding the final corridor to the Command Centre, screaming, firing nonstop on a machinegun emplacement as hordes of ravagers and praetorians attempt to breach the line to kill the final five. ANd when they do, finally, activating an IR beacon to Broken Arrow the dick out of the enemy and deny the satisfaction of the kill.

Re: WHISKY OUTPOST AT 2AM WAS LIT
I had a very Vietnam experience. We had alpha cowering east, Bravo covering west, and Charlie and Delta holding down the main action at central. Eventually central was going down, we had a couple holes in the cades we were basically plugging with bodies so command ordered a retreat to the lesser-line along road on either side of the forward triage with delta to be west of triage and Charlie east.
Problem was it was too big an exodus and xeno were too on our heels so cades were left wide open and in the retreat/desperate attempt to set up at road checkpoint cades, we lost most of Charlie. Someone launched multiple grenades along the east line of the cades in the chaos so there was really no point holding the checkpoint with a 4 wide strip of cades missing. We retreated to where center re-merges at the bunker just south of the river.
At this point I’m the only Charlie that makes it into that bunker along with like 5 deltas who apparently had a similar but slightly more orderly retreat. So while I’m trying to impress on command the fact that everyone needs to fall back to the 3 just south of river bunkers command is yelling not to abandon the checkpoint because triage and cave flanks are exposed telling “Charlie” (me and some guys in the rear undergoing surgery) to rush back out, thinking Delta was still holding theirs. Meanwhile dozens of xeno are bouncing against the bunker and even that isn't gonna hold long so I’m screaming at command trying to make them understand that in fact we’re on our last leg when we notice enemies north- they’d broken through the East at some point- we’d actually outlasted Alpha entirely.
So we retreat to the last line, again under fire. Some heroes take those elevated 2 MG pillboxes that aren’t covered in the back to buy time so I try to cover them from one of the final-sandbags-area once 90% of the marines are back in the base and they’re struggling to get back to us, but I manage to pick off a bunch of the Xeno nipping at their heels until the last guy- whose been bullied by all these enemies to the point where they’ve pushed him back into the river and he’s been beaten and burned and Hope seems lost manages to get 75% of the way back to base with me and others giving him danger close support fire and finally one last enterprising spitter has him kinda permastunned close as shit to safety and I’m trying to get the spitter off him and for the first time in the round I seriously FF because he gets up into a bullet and goes right back down for good.
Later they were in the final base trenches and were cracking the individual bunkers surrounding it before moving into the HQ. I decide we need a few marines in each just to buy time so they have to crack it so I duck in the western one closest to the doors of the base- the last one to fall. There we held until totally surrounded and the eastern cades, which faced into the narrow chute between east bunker and heading into HQ were about to go down. Boiler cloud against them meant we had to just watch as they charged the already Swiss cheese cades. Recognizing the end and that a huge pack of enemies was basically pinned between or bunker, the overrun east bunker, HQ and each other, every single marine in that western bunker wordlessly tossed grenades that by necessity were gonna hit us too- but we were dead anyways.
Our glory was immediately outshined because as soon as they started going down the HQ entrance chute the mortar crews created an impenetrable wall of explosions in there that was honestly the best defense marines put up all round. But it was still white knuckle xeno slaughter extravaganza hour all throughout with the best sense of looming desperation.

Re: WHISKY OUTPOST AT 2AM WAS LIT
It was stupid and annoying at first, but we got our gear MUCH faster that way - The actual problem was it was too easy for OTHER MARINES to push each other out of a ONE WAY LINE. So some dickweed inevitably did that constantly, and the only solution was to smash and grab because there was no MPs doing shit about it.

I agree but BE CAREFUL ABOUT REMOVING WEAPONS, TOOLS, AND AMMO. All other points are good. I would also say the mode needs more access in general to equipment for Marines and especially engies.ThePiachu wrote: ↑10 Aug 2018, 06:05The game mode was really fun!

Re: WHISKY OUTPOST AT 2AM WAS LIT
I really enjoyed the new WO as well. I was Bravo SL when we were holding the west. It was super quiet for the longest time, not a single xeno came through the west, but Bravo had competent people and we stayed put. Meanwhile, we just hear the constant explosions to our East as Charlie and Delta are getting absolutely slammed by all of the xenos. Eventually, I hear calls over command comms that the center is untenable and Charlie and Delta are pulling back and Patton was screaming to plug the gaps.
This is where I made a miscalculation as SL: I order Bravo to pull back and move to the center in an attempt to plug the gap and so we wouldn't be surrounded. Little did I know it was already way too late and we should've just moved back to the next western checkpoint. So a few Bravo's die, including me, and at this point it's just a mad dash for surviving marines to pull back to the main compound.
Also, the mortar team were true MVP's. At one point they had the entrance zero'd in and just kept dropping round after round after round, firing as fast as possible. They legitimately killed probably over 100 xenos.
God, that round was great.
