Best Colonial/Corporate Liaison
Alright, lads
Who out there is the fairest CL's among them all? Who bureaucrats better than all the other bureaucrats? Who's pen and briefcase is the mightiest through out the kingdom of CL'ery.
My pick is Ian Hitchkoff. Great player, RP's well and is pretty damn robust finding his way about with out getting killed planetside.

Re: Best Colonial/Corporate Liaison
I once actually got a response to a fax. But I feel like so far 99% of the time there is none. I get that, staff has to manually reply and is often busy playing themselves and / or moderating. But it often feels nice if there is feedback directly or perhaps indirectly. I wasn't CL often and long all in all, but I'd suspect I sent about two to three dozen faxes, maybe two rather than three dozen. And got one stamped immersive reply. Thanks for that on that note, whoever it was.
I see a bit of big potential for WY roles we could expand on in the moderate to far future, perhaps making fax aspects more responsive by maybe eventually having a played-out WY aspect somewhere on another Z-Level, think of like centcomm / evac station on classic SS13. Maybe not USCM high command but I can see a 'local' WY station or ship serve as potential gameplay aspect and detached RP that may perhaps only overlap into the normal Almayer / colony antics if shit hits the fan or if the Xenos become a notable threat. A number of additional (corporate) roles could be created with a focus on RP or inter-faction RP, have some of those who'd be the CLs superiors technically be whitelisted roles if need be. But I'm getting off-topic here, it's best left to the suggestion portion. Sorry 'bout that.
I don't know many CLs yet but I think those stand out that interweave interesting and sometimes quirky things into the gameplay - no matter if they stay shipside or deploy with marines. Or have it both. Either way being creative or defining your character helps. Someone recently "threatened to sue aliens", according to a command announcement, which was kinda funny. At least it was memorable. Another ran out with a recorder, giving verbal notes to occurences and damage on the colony (in this case the LV one). There's likely others who do a great or good job all in all.
But I think it generally helps to be a bit creative and work or interact with other departments and people actively so you generate RP and make it fun for more.

Re: Best Colonial/Corporate Liaison
Once I got the CO to sign a contract saying he would minimize use of collateral damage causing weapons (OBs, SADARs, etc) and that he could be relieved if he exceeded an expected amount of damage.
Of course, he caused a ton of collateral damage, and refused to step down. So I got 2 of my MP buddies and we stormed the bridge with their guns drawn and arrested the commander.
My bureaucrat boner was never bigger.

Re: Best Colonial/Corporate Liaison
in one of the town hall meetings it was said that the criteria for answering a fax was seeing how good the roleplay of the CL in that round is. if they're doing good and the admins want to throw them a bone they'll fax, but otherwise if they're mediocre, awful, or generic they won't respond, usually.
I like hand labelers.

Re: Best Colonial/Corporate Liaison
Well, that would be fine if there was some feedback for the CL to let them know how they are doing. It's kind of hard to improve if you can't compare yourself to other people (since you can't see their faxes), and you don't get any feedback from staff on the faxes you do send...carlarc wrote: ↑12 Aug 2018, 13:33in one of the town hall meetings it was said that the criteria for answering a fax was seeing how good the roleplay of the CL in that round is. if they're doing good and the admins want to throw them a bone they'll fax, but otherwise if they're mediocre, awful, or generic they won't respond, usually.

Re: Best Colonial/Corporate Liaison
Issue with faxes is that Mods cannot spawn items/response teams for the CL so they are limited to just fluff faxes if they decide to send one.
Also the fact that if we send a fax that is taken by the CL as an excuse to do antag actions due to bad wording/mistake by the mod they'll get in more trouble than it's worth half the time.
On an unrelated note. Wolfgang Schneider is the best CL.
