What did the barricades ever do to you!?
Curious to see if anyone has had this happen to them as well.
LV map, Alpha marine, holding the small and shitty LZ FOB, contacts south of containers as usual, trying to get a easy breach in.
Position is the cade that usually gets put between the containers and the enterance wall to the Nexus on the west LZ side, you know the one im talking about.
Im one of the only marines actually getting rounds out to deter and try to kill the bastards and i hear the words from a wounded, dying engineer near me say :
"your ahh, shooting at the cades you know!?",
Well sorry engineer, i cant help it bud, i cant stand right on the barricade because you get stun/slashed and is a easy way to die,
I cant stand too far back because most of my rounds wont get over the barricade and you suffer the same effect even when standing 1-2 tiles back from the cade, what ill call the Goldy locks zone, it seems fitting.
This is obviously a result of the recent changes to barricades and how they function, have you been told by engineers or even anyone for that matter, " hey, stop trying to shoot and deter them enemies from breaching us because your slightly damaging the barriades!" ?

Max Dallas has been hit in the chest by the M40 HEDP grenade.

"It was a fantastic round. If the CO hadn't cryo'ed before the end I'd have bothered him to give at least two more medals. To PFC Max Dallas, who kept doing the path between the frontlines to FOB (the only place with medical aid) with a roller bed, and saved a lot of marines who'd have husked otherwise. And to Dr. Haley Altman, who after all medics were gone was fixing us time and again for hours straight. At the end there were over 10 patients around her either dead or in crit, and she just kept going."

Well, it used to be that when you click directly on barricades, you won't actually shoot at it and the bullet will just fly past (gone with the barricade update for some reason).
Right now, you can stand directly against the barricades, thanks to their new defense mechanism against xeno slashes when they're at full health, and even if they've taken damage, they still have the RNG chance to block slashes.
Though, standing one tile back is still the safest way to go about it. Just stand right up against barricades if it's still fresh, and move back once it's taken some damage, because I don't trust RNG.

Exactly the method im going to and am using from now on and have already started, engineers better be ready to have to weld and replace even more barricades these days because sadly with the new barricade changes, theres nothing else we can do about it.DefinitelyAlone0309 wrote: ↑12 Aug 2018, 06:36Though, standing one tile back is still the safest way to go about it. This was added because of prevalence of "autism forts"

Re: What did the barricades ever do to you!?
Do you mean the return of the "clicking on barricade will make the barricade ouchy" that the devs fixed earlier that somehow has an effect on autism forts ?
Do you see the "Because you never want to hit your own cade" part ? Please tell me why was this changed ?

Re: What did the barricades ever do to you!?
Do you wanna hit your own marines? No
So why all the FF.
Now imagine that Cade is your comrade that allows you to shoot thru him . If you are near him, you shouldn't have a chance to hit it. If you are far away, get ready for FF

Re: What did the barricades ever do to you!?
I'm asking solely about the "clicking on barricade makes you shoot that barricade" part, as it was changed earlier to make that not a thing anymore. Why was it changed back again ? Was it somehow effecting autismo FOB ?NethIafins wrote: ↑12 Aug 2018, 07:57Do you wanna hit your own marines? No

That update to how cades work was dumb, indeed
But

You could've just stayed 1 tile behind the cades, big brain boyBillyBoBBizWorth wrote: ↑12 Aug 2018, 06:20Well sorry engineer, i cant help it bud, i cant stand right on the barricade because you get stun/slashed and is a easy way to die,

I am a big brain boy, yes, i was actually standing exactly one tile away when the engineer said this, and he said it because some of my bullets were actually hitting the cade so its not like he was lying or anything.Like i said though, theres not much i can do about that when the cading is reacting the way it does now with the changes. So your basically forced to damage your own hard cover, which is quite silly.immaspaceninja wrote: ↑12 Aug 2018, 08:43

As far as im observing, unless your standing right up against the cade just wanting to be decapped by one slash, your projectile pass rate will never be 100%, so im forced to damage the cade even standing just 1 tile away from it because i refuse to man a cade right up against it unless in certain scenarios, which majority of the time arent the case.

All you had to do is move closer to the exact cade your bullets were flying thruBillyBoBBizWorth wrote: ↑12 Aug 2018, 11:14I am a big brain boy, yes, i was actually standing exactly one tile away when the engineer said this, and he said it because some of my bullets were actually hitting the cade so its not like he was lying or anything.Like i said though, theres not much i can do about that when the cading is reacting the way it does now with the changes. So your basically forced to damage your own hard cover, which is quite silly.

Also, barricades actually block slashes now and at their max health they have something like a 99.99% chance of doing that
Mission failed, you'll get em next time

The cade is damaged because bullets marines are firing are damaging the cade as well as the xeno slashing at it, meaning you cant go right up against it because it doesnt have slash protection anymore, its not 100%.Even if it is 100% health, its still not good practice to go right up on the cade, they will and are able to one slash decapp you, you never trust RNG just like you never trust Forklift or any type of hydraulics by standing under a load just waiting for a seal to pop and be crushed. You dont do it, its a clear occupational hazard.
I should of got a screenshot to help visualize what im explaining here, ill make sure i do that next time so theres no confusion.

Re: What did the barricades ever do to you!?
I feel like it's not that much of a risk to stand literally ontop of the barricade to fire safely over it, atleast from my experience. As soon as any evil red coloured alien comes to ruin your day you just step one tile backwards and ruin his, then it's just a matter of getting an engineer to repair it and done.
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Elder Empress The Wise? I thought not. It's not a story the Marines would tell you. It's a Xeno legend. Elder Empress was an old queen of the xenomorph, so powerful and so wise she could use the plasma to influence all aliens to create life… She had such a knowledge of the xeno side that she could even keep the ones she cared about from dying. The xenomorph side of the world is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. She became so powerful… the only thing she was afraid of was losing her power, which eventually, of course, she did. Unfortunately, she taught her daughters everything she knew, then her daughters bodyblocked her in her retreat. Ironic. She could save others from death, but not herself.
