UPP vs CLF - how to roleplay them differently?

From what I've seen people playing UPP and CLF, and honestly it looks like they are interchangeable in people's minds - "xa xa comrades, let's kill the capitalists". Similarly, the response from the Marine side seems to be the same also "blast those commie terrorists".

How would you roleplay being and reacting to UPP and CLF differently? Whether it's having them as an ERT, or in HvH events - what should be the main difference between those two factions in regards to how they should be played?

In regards to how they should be played, I believe that the UPP would have a more professional role similar to a marine but with more of a Russian vernacular and attitude. The UPP have a properly trained army with the same sort of discipline as the USCM. Marines would probably treat UPP as a big threat and use full aggression against them, rarely capturing people alive as the UPP's sense of duty and patriotism rivals that of the USCM.

CLF is slightly different to UPP if you are playing as them. The CLF are more of rebel militia, they strive for true freedom from the United Americas and they'll use what few tools they have to accomplish it. I would consider the CLF to be a very poorly funded organisation that could probably resort to guerilla tactics if need be. Their goal would be more personal than the UPPs, whereas the UPP see the USCM as rivals and wish to eradicate them the CLF see the USCM as an oppressing regime taking control of their hard-earned land. I think the USCM would have a pretty diminished reaction to the CLF, they may treat them like pitchfork-wielding rebels unhappy with the current state of things or absolute savages. They would perhaps capture one or two for whatever uses they may provide.

In short-
Playing as UPP: The operation is business with a little bit of hatred for USCM mixed in, you are disciplined and trust in your comrades and your socialist nation. 'Glory to UPP, death to USCM'

Reacting to UPP: Very serious threat, exterminate with extreme prejudice, damn Russkies.

Playing as CLF: The American marines are in your territory, are you gonna stand for that?! You may be a civilian turned rebel but you can still wield your homemade gun, now get out there! 'For the homeland, clear out the invaders!'

Reacting to CLF: Treated as less of a threat but still noteworthy, capturing is probable, failure is not, defeat the two-bit colonists.

Does it ever state the CLF are communists? Just do them as poorly funded rebels with whatever sort of ideas you want, otherwise. Unlike the UPP, they’re fairly open as to what you can do. Whether minarchist or communist, so long as you oppose the USCM, you’re good.

From what I understand, UPP are the space soviets, while the CLF are the separatists. So CLF would be the America to UA's Britain :P. So No Step on Snek...

I like to roleplay my CLF freedom fighter as a Vietcong Guerilla spouting lines like, "Go home GI, Ill Kill you GI" or "Stay away from my rice imperialist dog".

On a side note Imperialism (which the CLF are fighting against) is not the same as Capitalism (which the UPP don't like).

Since the UA absorbed europe and non-communnist asia (and probably the rest too) you can pretty much be any kinda terrorist you like, I imagine its more an umbrella term used to inflate insurgency numbers with random bandits and milk the bureaucracy of more tax dollars.

One time I escaped on a shuttle with some CLF as a prisoner SO, and it turned out they were just a small, close-knit group of cannibalistic drug addicts.

perhaps they're not necessarily communist, but merely anti-corporate, and in this context anti-wy, the super corporation that holds a stranglehold over affairs in space to the point of indirectly controlling uscm military forces.

perhaps theyre simply so fiercely independent in a "get off my land" way, and can get away with it on the space frontier whereas on earth or closer to earth uncle sam would have had them mobbed with cops and fbi and etc. years ago. this kind of clf would probably also dislike being bossed around by upp authority, for example

CLF is like Americans when America was a British colony. The most basic thing you fight for as CLF are the colonies and you can be capitalist yourself.
I guess UPP runs their own colonies and people are not happy there either.

As a CLF: RP like survivor who loves freedom and is desperate enough to the point of commiting armed actions against military. This, or very poor merc/psycho.
As a UPP: Classic grunt, but with Commies as higher ups. You don't have to be commie yourself, just a grunt.

From those two "tree trunks" you can try to grow several branches, but you have to remember about your roots.

The reason RP as UPP/CLF is non-existent is because 99% of the time they are a end round meme that you get to run around and usually die within five minutes of spawning.

If UPP/CLF were somewhat more common and appeared earlier in the rounds and could reasonably be expected to be alive for longer than five minutes, I think we'd see more unique interactions because there would be time to do so. Instead of the deathmatch mode they currently occupy.
