Introducing: Corporate Liason job (for Alpha)
Here's a bit of a preview for the next alpha test, and so people can familiarize themselves beforehand with the new job: the Corporate Liason!
The Corporate Liason is the Weyland-Yutani representative on board the Sulaco. They are NOT a part of the military and are under no obligation to follow military orders - however, they do still have to follow ship-related orders, for example the Commander restricting access to the bridge. The Liason is effectively there only to observe and report back to W-Y the various things that go on during the round.
The Liason doesn't just stop there, however. During the round, they can pray to the admins in order to receive objectives, and the admins are able to spawn "supply packs" that are randomly placed around the station (ie. hidden in various maintenance tunnels). The Liason is NOT able to grief or cause trouble and will be quickly jobbanned if that occurs. They MUST remain in RP at all times.
Think of the Liason like the regular station's Chaplain -- you're a sleazy (or not, if you choose) corporate greaseball who's there to ensure that Weyland-Yutani's assets are being deployed in a financially viable manner, but has no actual authority beyond what their Corporate Overlords (admins) decide.
The Liason gets their own fancy office, which is actually the nicest set of personal quarters on the entire ship. Which is on the brand new bottom deck of the Sulaco. Which I'm not showing yet, haw haw.
Enjoy!

Re: Introducing: Corporate Liason job (for Alpha)
Feel like this job along with the Commander and XO would be perfect for the potential job-whitelisting/unlocking. Perfect for this as well because it's really not a "needed" position for the game rounds.
Honestly I'm more thinking for admins on how frustrating it would be to have some idiot be your RP voice in-game. Not to mention this is a job that requires actual RP as you're not running around shooting shit.
Not for the average player, something to think about.

Fuck white lists forever,I'm all for having some jobs be where if you fuck it up you're job banned until you explain your shit on the forums but white lists are garbage.Pink wrote:Feel like this job along with the Commander and XO would be perfect for the potential job-whitelisting/unlocking. This isn't a average job position.

Re: Introducing: Corporate Liason job (for Alpha)
Honestly, I'm with RoswellRay, I really dislike whitelists because it tends to cause favoritism and whining, and requires more work out of already-overworked admins. It's really hard to be impartial about it.
I'd much rather prefer the job be open, jobbanning is just a click away. It's not as if the job has any actual authority or powerful items.

Correct yet..
It becomes a completely dysfunctional job if you don't get someone competent in the position.
I think one thing some people don't realize is that Whitelisting/Locking certain jobs actually promotes server play. People want to work towards goals that are unlock-able, it keeps them coming back and makes them strive to earn the position.
CM in general suffers from major repetition and offers very little incentive to return when everything is available upon login.

Re: Introducing: Corporate Liason job (for Alpha)
I am thinking this should be a white listed job for people such as the staff or people who fill out a application for it given that some people might become power hungry as it... My personal list of people who I would nominate for it, (The staff) Wooki, Xur, Darknova, Sgtmuffinman, And a few others.
Why am I still here again?
Just your Former Head Staff stalking around from time to time I suppose.

Re: Introducing: Corporate Liason job (for Alpha)
Whitelist MIGHT be a thing we need to do if we get shit people for this job like with commander ... Speaking of which, can't we make commander whitelisted for Alpha at least? I can't think of many other ways to restrict idiots from ruining that role..

Re: Introducing: Corporate Liason job (for Alpha)
The only reason i think whitelist would be good for this (Or earning it somehow) is due to it seeming more like a optional job and isn't exactly needed for the progression of the round, it seems to me more like a nice job on the side for Rp.
Please do correct me if i'm wrong about this.

Re: Introducing: Corporate Liason job (for Alpha)
Yes that's most of the reason, though i already mentioned another very good reason which ties up with that. People who are absolute shit and do not know what they are doing will not fulfill this role, since it will likely involve a lot of RP.

Re: Introducing: Corporate Liason job (for Alpha)
I'd like to see Commander and this as a unlock-able job/Donor job.
Reason for unlock-able, people who invest time into the server are far more likely to be less of a shitlord.
Donor unlockable, same reason essentially.. anyone who's willing to donate to server is usually a serious player.

Re: Introducing: Corporate Liason job (for Alpha)
No, i see their point - someone who donates to the server is less likely to be a baldie.
They're saying that donors don't have to wait to unlock the job, as a benefit of donating, not that its a donor-exclusive job.

Re: Introducing: Corporate Liason job (for Alpha)
I'm usually against donor benefits directly impacting game-play
However, with Commander and Liaison requiring such a demand on not being shit you have to weed through the generic mess.
Commander is going to play a MASSIVE role in the new map, just with Sulaco alone. Having average joe there who does fuck all is going to severely impact gameplay.
I do however think that the Staff should personally start by the forums and go through those who should be white-listed before the time unlocks/applications. Individuals like MrJJJ who have been a part of the community for awhile show that they aren't your generic morons and should by-pass the given Time unlock/Application process.
This will also help to create a healthy enough balance of players to fill these roles early on aside from Staff and Donors.
