Predator Language

Post by xywenx00 » 01 Aug 2015, 22:23

Do Predators use the actual Yautja Language ingame, like seen here when scorlling down, http://jokerdesigns.com/thehunted/yautja/index.php ? For words like listed down there. Would be awesome. Or are they just using random words for each sentence?

I think, not sure, if a Yautja talks, then humans see it as Yautja Language, so does it actually translate? (I might be wrong)

From what I know about the lore, that page is pretty accurate. When predators hunt together they throat their verbal communication out the window and do mostly gestures and body language.

However, when not hunting or when in a safe location, the Yautja do have their own language, though we don't personally know it backwards and forwards.

Because of the pre-existing word-bank translations, scripting the language would be pretty damn hard unless it were scripted so that non-preds hearing it would simply get a 'Unknown speaks in a language you cannot understand'.

For the most part as a predator on the hunt, if you're going to stick to lore you would stick with communicating with body-language and gestures, as talking can give away your position.

Swordhill: Did your predator just grand-theft auto a cargo train from a marine? Apophis775: That's classified.

In game we normally talk as RPing to that level is just plain inconvenient when it takes longer and you might be attacked at any time.

Thanks, Tetsip, that's exactly what I wanted to know.

@Mordrehel, I was talking about what humans see, when a Yautja talks. But I have to check on that, because I've forgotten what they actually see. :P

Huh, if it could somehow be translated as such in the code that would be very interesting...
