This is just a simple thread I wanted to make regarding my favorite weapon, the M240 Incinerator Unit. I feel like this beast of a weapon is simply not powerful enough for a thing that SPITS FLAMING PLASMA!

My thoughts were that maybe we could make it into a Specialist option, with a full flame-retardant suit and a tank that goes on your back that holds a ton of plasma that can be hooked into the flamethrower, I dunno.

THIS is the reason I made this thread friends- I DON'T KNOW! I would like to compile a post to make a suggestion once that is open again and I would value the feedback of you all.

i'll get the ball rolling. It would be neat if the flame thrower actually LIT the aliens on fire and kept them that way. I don't think that the current way it is used it very effective. YES, it may stop them from advancing, but it only does damage if they are IN The flame.

I suppose you could possibly have the sniper incendiary ammo code and just add it to the Flamethrower so if the flames hit a xeno they are set on fire.

EDIT: You can also already get a full flame protection suit.

There could be a mode on the flame thrower where it is the simple:

-Line burst

OR

A hack and slash where a 3X3 tile limit is sprayed right in front of you for ultimate area of denial or something.

..... Literally why.... I JUST tested the flamethrower and the thing is so fucking OP as it is. It destroys literally anything that is not fire resistance if you keep unleashing flames. People can solo preds with them cause it kills them in like four hits.

NOPE.
Literally tested it. ONE BURST even if they move because of the inital damage that happens if the fire hits you it puts you in dark orange immediately due to the instant burn damage from the blast

Maybe SAS but from what I have seen when using it, and I use a decent amount of gas in each burst, it only travels about 5 tiles.

But hey. this is only a chat area about the flamethrower, I just wanted to talk about how it could be made better.

It honestly does not need to be better.... If it was made better it would be pretty fucking Over powered. Its at the moment balanced. It is designed to scare aliens away or used as area denial or clearing weeds. It is effective at what it was made for which is all of the above along with killing tier 3s other than the ravager and queen

Well let's move onto another question I've had...

Why don't we just have a pack you can get that holds two/three plasma tanks, however you would want and you can connect a hose to the flamethrower?

Well. mainly because that is not the way the flamethrower worked in this universe. Flamethrowers lack that backpack full of fuel and or plasma due to the fact of it than becomes more of a hazard to the user than it does good given friendly fire can now turn him into a fireball or a alien than can easily cut it and it can leak. There are a variety of reasons we do not use flamethrowers but this was the top reason we never used them in world war 2 anywhere else but japan. Even than we used them in Japan was to burn the enemy out of bunkers/destroy forests so they can not hide. That is the entire reason for the flamethrower

Ah, sounds good. To be honest SAS every time I've used it, it felt just... well, WEAK.

A couple rounds ago I used one on a Spitter who wasn't moving quickly. I fired one burst, then a second, and then a third, ALL direct hit's and it didn't even put it into Crit.

So, what exactly are the stats for the Flamethrower, and can you give me a good amount of Gas to use in each burst?

It putting a pred into crit I believe has nothing to do with the damage it does to aliens since aliens only have three forms of life.

and the flamethrower rarely puts them in crit as they just walk through flames, even I as an alien have take more than 1 flamer shot and other times walked through the flames to attack humans and walk back out without even being close to crit.

The real question I have, do the flames do anything after the initial firing? at least as a ghost and analyzing atmos on the square the flames are on, it literally changes nothing to atmos, no heat or anything

Yes. That is correct. It does not do atmos stuff cause that is the way the old flamethrower we had worked and it did alot of atmos fuckery. So we turned it into the tiles the fire is on are the tiles that do damage. The longer your on the tile. The more damage. The initial blast does burn damage also. But yes. Our version of the flamethrower does not fuck with atmos. But still does burn damage over time

The flamethrower is way better than the default SS13 version where you needed to set pressure and mix ratios and it wouldn't work half the time. This flamethrower is great.

I'd be all for making a flamer fuel tank that was bullet proof that went on the back as a specialist weapon, cause I wanna light the world on fire.
