A little background
I'm a half black half filipino employed college student aspiring to be a Network Administrator. Computers have been in my life since the first day I decided I wanted to get into the IT field. Therefore it's only natural for me to become an avid gamer. That's how it works right? We became interested in computers, and from there we were like "What entertaining shit can I do with this thing?" That question lead us to gaming!
That being said
As a gamer I've always loved immersing myself in the developer's world, SS13 is the most immersive multiplayer game that I know of. From the complicated processes you can execute, to the actual donning of a role and following that role is completely down my alley! The simplicity of the engine keeps a tight grip on me, I don't have a grand and complicated GUI but a more punctual and straightforward GUI/Command Line. Me being a network engineer who interfaces with Linux all the time, this is my heaven!
Why Colonial Marines and not X Station?
At first I loved playing on regular Station servers, I could don my role I wanted and spend the next couple of hours being that role. Though the problem was that I would end up getting bored, wanting to do something that actually affects the other users I'm playing with. (Example: A virologist researching viruses for what?) I wasn't getting this "I'm making an impact" feel that I wanted. In Colonial Marines, everything you do is supposed to be in your faction's favor. Instantly giving me the "I'm going to make an impact" feel.
Lastly Why Colonial Marines and not X Station you ask me? This server reminds me a lot of the modded game from Warcraft 3 called Metastasis (Have any of you guys ever played that?)Why are you even introducing yourself you weirdo?
College is stressing, especially in the IT Field. If you know nothing about Network Engineering, just know that it's complex and bruh you can't fuck up. Through this server (and I already told you why this server and not x server) I am able to relieve stress peacefully and enjoyably. First I would like to be and feel like I'm a part of this community, then I would love to help build it.
