big bad list of cardinal marine sins

Post by CubeJackal » 10 Jan 2016, 02:57

let's put up a big list of shitty marine habits that get people killed and players upset. i'll start us off:

1. targeting the head
2. leaving harm intent on in a firing lane
3. breaking into medbay
4. breaking into requisitions
5. breaking into the hangar before briefing is done
6. running off into the woods on your own
7. trying to throw things through grilles
8. trying to shoot things larger than a bullet through grilles
9. bumping into electrified grilles
10. the soap at round start

add your own below and we'll see how many we can stack up

1.Sentry guns right outside the shuttle doors when aliens invade.
2.Barricades right outside the shuttle doors.
3.Retreating early.
4.Welding vents before they know Xenos can crawl through them.
5.Friendly fire (I'm a doctor most of the time, and you know what the majority of the surgery I do is? shrapnel removal and bone repair.)

I might add more at a later date. highly likely because marines always come up with new ways to piss me off.

1. Not setting up atmos
2. Having MTs and CEs on and the engine never being setup
3. SMES at midship never being setup
4. Squad engineers not carrying light replacers

Marines in their underwear.

Good hunting.

1. Bumping into medics who are attempting to stabilize a patient.
2. Standing in the path of doctors and medics who are trying to move a patient.
3. Dragging someone else away from medical personnel who are attempting to treat them.
4. Crowding medbay with perfectly healthy marines as if you enjoy causing a massive hindrance to doctors.
5. Informing a doctor/medic you're fine and leaving when they're actively trying to treat you. (It may be a minor injury, but we can't tell that from our HUDs and it usually takes as little as ten seconds to get you back to full health if you don't have any broken bones.)
Aka Dennis Hunt the (usually) overworked medic/doctor.
Currently AWOL due to my computer dying.

Every. Single. One of these, I have personally experienced as a doctor.
Thank you SO MUCH for highlighting these issues that I forgot to.

This happens much too often on this server... Oh, a marine is injured? Nasty gash on their left arm and they've got a broken bone somewhere, according to the analyzer.

"I'm fine." he says, walking out of medbay.

No. Stop with the "Too Tough To Bleed." shit. You're playing as a HUMAN with marine training. Humans die when they get shot. So when you get shot, or when you get injured, just go to medbay and allow them to treat you. And don't complain about having to wait, blame the fact there can only be like 3-4 doctors even though there's sometimes sixty marines. Also, with only two OR's, and A SINGLE CHEM DISPENSER, Medical's almost always understaffed and sometimes under-prepared. You can drain the dispenser of power TWICE and STILL not have a complete stock of chems.

I'm sure I could come up with a laundry list, but I'll just throw these here:

1. Pushing engineers repairing/hacking/barricading
2. Having a cringe-level obsession with attachments
3. Not understanding the concept of triage

1. Running after contacts like it's your god given right to ERADICATE them from the planet.
2. Running into friendly line of fire to carry out 1.
3. Complaining on squad comms because it's apparently everyone else's fault when 1 fails.
4. "guys come on let's assault i have the inherent feeling the aliens are up north my voices are telling me".
5. Mentioning the words "Suicide Squad" in any serious context. Pyrrhic victory a shit, and you're often taking manpower away with your clever little up and down flanking that will end with you on the ground.
When the voice from the shadows calls you
When the wind whips past your ears
Will you stand when the weight is upon you
Or will you go to your knees in fear?
