On Cryo

Post by Nick123q23 » 04 Feb 2016, 19:13

Why doesn't anyone ever use cryo when they want to leave the round? It opens a new jobslot for people who might need to replace you later.
This only really applies to sulaco personnel, can't expect SLs to run up to cryo from the planet if they get bored, although it would be nice.

Let's not beat around the bush;

effort.
When the voice from the shadows calls you
When the wind whips past your ears
Will you stand when the weight is upon you
Or will you go to your knees in fear?

People do and it's encouraged quite alot but as stated above some people really need to at that very moment and either don't have the time to there or it's too much effort.

It's literally a short walk to get to from anywhere.

The planet would be an example of a long walk or just any map where the marines deploy to.

It'd be interesting if Stasis bags could work as a planetside alternative to Cryo.

Anywhere on the sulaco, anyway. Like I said earlier, I don't expect anyone in the AO to go into cryo

As an MT on Sulaco usually I'll do sweeps consistently around the ship though for SSD. I would think another addition to your question is 'why don't players move more SSD into cryo?'

What Wyatt said. MTs are basically cryo techs after the engine is set up.

99% Certain that our cryosleepers don't reopen a job slot if someone SSDs in them. Just moves the body the somewhere it's not in the way.

They remove the person from play entirely and the job slot is cleared, sending the player back to the join menu after the cryo timer runs down.

Do we have any proof of that? I know Paradise does this, but we clearly are using different code. I've never fucked with the pods before but I'm fairly certain the bodies aren't removed given the sheer number of closed/occupied pods I've found late joining.

I can confirm that the person is removed from round and their job slot opened.

We do this frequently on lowpop to man cargo/medbay/engineering setups and then cryo, the slots open after the body passes through cryo and goes away.

We should put cryo beds in the nexus actually. Even if marines go SSD and aliens open the cryos up it would be the same as them getting facehugged standing there or left behind.
