No respect for Queen

(A hunter dragging Queen in crit to humans). A lot of time the chat is full of orders to the Queen, make eggs! make jelly! allow slash! or calling her an idiot. That may be a reason why choosing a Queen at round start feels like a player sacrificing herself for the others. That's why I don't want to play her at least.

Usually the queen doesn't act like a queen. If xenos have to ask for eggs shes probably being bad. But you have a point.

I've always believed we should make it so if the queen dies, the xenos have to replace her quickly or else they die out. But strengthen her power.

I'd like if when Queen dies, everyone suffer. You didn't do your job afterall: protecting the Queen. Something like you all devolve to T1. Then those T3-s would care and not just call her an idiot.

I know both of those had been suggested at some point. Not sure what happened to those threads, but they contained five times your daily recommended value of sodium. I'd be all for either one for what it's worth.

Or aliens get a global penalty, like reduced damage or speed. Dunno. When we kill the queen as marines we're all like YERRHH HUGE VICTORY but it's really not, they just evolve a new one in a short while.

This server is definitely not Medium RP from an Alien standpoint when you commonly get:

Eh? It's low RP, and the Queen does get treated like a cheap hooker with everyone wanting a piece of her but never being happy with the end result. The Queen is almost an entirely moot and pointless Caste. It should be the Queen who stays in the Hive, she should be ridiculously fucking powerful, and the Marine Major should only come once the Queen is dead. Then for the Aliens, it's going to be -all- about protecting her.

Low-Medium RP server would be more accurate. But there's really only so much you can do RP-wise as a xeno. Marines are allowed identities and personalities, whereas Xenos are essentially clones. They're a hivemind.

Anyways, it's perfectly clear that the Queen is becoming less of a Commander and more of an egg/jelly whore. It's extremely common to see runners grab jelly, ignoring the Queens order to stay in groups, attack the Nexus solo and die.

You guys are forgetting something really simple.... Hivemind chat is translated to the easiest to understand speech. That means Aliens can say "Humans/Shuttle/Weapons/Grenades/Explosion/Bombs/Acid/Blood etc. It's not bad RP to say "HEAD TO ENGINEERING", as that is something which would be translated through alien thoughts.

Aliens have poor RP because no one is invested in their Alien character or cares if they really die beyond having to evolve all over again. People are also generally anonymous as aliens, so you have players who often play known characters in-game become anonymous and fuck around.

This goes for every role... if you're a good player people will respect you you no matter. Often times most Queens are shit and give awful orders, a lot of GOOD alien players will ignore shitty queens and do their own thing.

Maybe so, Feweh, but for those who are truly dedicated to the Xenomorph side of the conflict, they will do their damnest not to use human words. Although its not bad RP to say 'Head to engineering', it IS bad RP to fuck around doing nothing productive. In my case, instead of Engineering, I'd say 'metal bubble with eight machines'. Sure it takes more time, but muh immurshunz.

Aliens have poor RP, in my opinion, BECAUSE they are anonymous 99.5% of the time. You can tell who is well known as a marine when they are playing xeno because of their playstyle. For instance, people know me (a few people actually) because of my absolutely fucking impenetrable T-Comms auxiliary FoB with plasteel, girders and a turret. Took the entire xeno team to breach a girder row, and they didn't even get farther than the plasteel.

In addition, aliens have poor RP because people think they can get away with 'netspeak' such as 'AYYY LMAO!', or 'Rekt', or Queen-Mother above... 'Git gud'. Indeed, if you look at the 2010 game (best in my opinion), people who play xeno in multiplayer do their damnest not to die, acting like an actual 'perfect hunter-killer'. In my opinion, people just fuck around as a xenomorph BECAUSE a GOOD xeno team has at least 10 mindless larva which are gone in a fuckin' instant if the marines are even half competent. 'Need hosts!'? Don't go rambo and blow yourselves up as a tier one. Each T1 that dies deprives the hive of a (marines call them 'OP PLZ NERF!') tier 3. Hell, a hunter would be MUCH more useful than the wet tissue known as the runner.

While I agree with being respected with every role you are good at, no one KNOWS that you are that particular role unless something happens. This something is some xenomorph recognition that I have been advocating and other people, including myself, have been trying to push. If there is a bad queen, I feel its a civic duty of the more experienced xeno players to help and guide her through the process of being the 'be all-end all' of the hive. While it is true that a lot of good players will ignore shitty queens, a lot of xenos ignore good queens and go off to implode against marines and cripple the hive.

Exactly the mentality I was talking about. And you call them GOOD when/because they know better and ignore Queen. If you have a better plan you can always share, you can tell where are the weak spots, offer to lead the offense, etc. Imo if you are GOOD you should show the others around you how to engage, how can they play together efficiently, not just doing your own thing. Ignoring should be the last measure if everything else fails.

That's actually a good idea. People aren't as likely to be salty when their ckeys are in the open.Total anonymity makes for a toxic community.

This is unfortunate but is the truth, I'd love to see something done about this but I'm not sure what. Rules or some sort of a debuff for losing your queen sounds good.

I especially dislike the hate a Queen gets if she fails at her job. Yes, she did bad, she might be new, she might have had a bad day, ANYTHING! It is not a good enough reason to call someone a 'failed abortion', it's just one round.Instead of that she should have been swarmed with suggestions on improving, even if it is the most obvious things like laying eggs or jelly. I could see the Queen being very upset by that. And I mean, what choice do you have when the rest of the aliens choose runner at round start and go die? At least she was on the right track.

I'm not speaking from my experience of being a Queen, this happened yesterday with someone that was a new Queen, there was so much hate towards her, frankly it is disappointing to see...

Assign each player a number that persists between rounds. Like a 4 digit hex number as an example. So one round I could be Hunter (05A3) and the next I could be Hivelord (05A3)

This is definitely something I think we need. It would make it a lot easier to identify people in game too, rather than having to remember numbers in the heat of things.

I'm sure it would help deal with the rest of this too, if only due to losing anonymity as others have mentioned.

In the post you linked to there were quite a few different ideas.

Something that seemed to be liked least was having a players ckey shown to everyone.

I'm all for a static name that carries across ALL rounds you play as a Xeno, allowing people to recognise when a good Queen is playing... or heaven forbid the Bill Carson of queens is playing.

But I dont think that we should be announcing peoples ckeys for general playerbase.

A 4 digit number/letter code should be fine. Every player gets assigned one and uses it everytime he plays xeno.
I don't think adding ckeys is a good idea. Your "roleplaying" as someone and your real name shouldn't be just right there. People should try to find out who you are when they want to say like "awesome game man!" or "that was sick!".
