First Round as Medic

Post by Giggles » 28 Mar 2016, 13:06

So, I thought that I would try out a new role. I love begin a medic and I have a lot of experience but I have never been a medic on this ship before. I wanted a new role which did not mean leaving the ship. I wanted to stay on the nice warm ship without the threat of being attacked or getting lost on the planet. I was signed up on the Solako and started my shift.

After I had found out where everything was, I was acquainted to my fellow medics. One of them asked me to race them from one corridor to another and we did that for quite a while until we heard the drop ship coming with some injured marines. My first patient was a blind person and I fixed his eyesight and off he went to fight again! I was so pleased and happy that I had fixed this guys eyesight. He went to contribute to the war effort all because I healed him :P

The rest of the shift flew past as people came in needing all sorts of operations. I put on the first responder jacket, some gloves and got right into the work. One person after another needed an operation and just as I was helping another guy, an alien pops up from a vent and mauls my head off.

Tis the life of a medic, we always get brutally slaughtered whenever we just want to help people. :( I'm glad you had such a good time as a medic, though! <3

And yes,it's hell being a base medic.

My first round as doctor was also one of my first rounds of SS13. I had no idea how the hell anything worked, and I just kinda stumbled around oblivious to how I could save the marines dying around me. After clearly showing my uselessness I got the bright idea to head down on the dropship so I could (attempt to) save marines down there.

Thankfully there was only one casualty. Unfortunately he was in bad condition. Panicking, with no idea of what to do, he eventually died before my eyes, while the marines around be insulted my idiocy. It was then that I went to the back of the shuttle where there were too many marines in one spot. Someone had forgotten to close the shuttle shutters, and upon opening one up, someone got too close to me, and I feel to my death from the shuttle.

Then I read some guides, figured out how shit worked, and became a damn good doctor/medic.

Aren't you Matt? We restored a damaged heart too, not just the eyes.

I've only played medic a few times, but what I've learned is that you're not doing it right if you're not aggressively slamming marines onto tables to administer bandages.

There is barely a dull moment, even if you are not on the planet.
Marines come up injured, mutiny, random engine issues causing radiation poisoning.. oh, and random alien that mauls you to death.
