Change of gears?
I've had this idea for a map/overhaul for a bit... but I wanted to see if people would even be receptive to it before I put up effort for it.
Major infestation-
Spawning:
Marines no longer respawn, there is no ERT, and there is only a supply drop every X minutes (30, 60, whatever)
Xeno health
Xenos are weak, easier to kill (couple shotgun blasts, half a clip of pulse, etc), but deadly. (the two swipe to kill and such)
HOWEVER there is now a respawn and timer that scales with how long the round has been going. (wait 3 minutes until 30 minutes in, 2 after, and 1 after an hour)
Xenos that respawn will be a generic hunter class that can't evolve and are basically grunts for the horde.
You can wait for an occausional chest burster for more options.. but if you're impatient you can just be a hunter
Xeno queens are now singular and can not be evolved into and once they are killed the xeno respawn mechanic stops.
One land based map is required. There will be two opposing sides. One where the infestation has spread, and the other will be a WY base.
Parts of the WY will be indestructible to prevent a total collapse, but there will be weak points and marines will have to guard at least 3-4 bottle necks.
MP will be replaced with WY combat synths. Probably whitelisted and quite special with their pro/cons. There will only be 2-3 that answer directly to the commander.
Capital offenses result in quick execution from synths.
I have a ton more ideas for this, and I still need to do testing on proper timing, squad sizes, distances and such...

Seems really cool in theory honestly. White-listing synths seems...meh? just make them like Specs. Limited slots and if you misuse it it job ban.

The idea for synths would be that they are basically OP cyborgs with limited ammo and power.
And yeah, I feel like this would be more in line with Aliens (movie) in which they had a set number of people... and they could kill xenos but they just kept coming.
Plus the respawning mechanic would keep people in the game and make each death a guaranteed xeno. I'm not sure if cloning should be added or not.
Ideally these rounds would last between 1 to 2 hours.

This sounds a lot like the idea apop threw around a couple of times, with a couple of differences. His idea is a base defense, where the goal isn't to win but to survive as long as possible. He also mentioned NPC xenos and supply drops in the form of random marines from the dead pool. I'd be up for it either way. Combat synths are cool.

I'd be interested as long as this is a sidemap/mode we switch to between that and the main game we have now. If it completely replaces the current system I don't think I'd be as receptive.

Kidding? No one will ever agree on replacing. I like it. It sounds fun. I'm a huge fan of horde mode game types. Marines should earn points while playing, though. For staying alive, killing, etc. The points would be tied to a individual directly and be used to 'buy in' as it were if they died, I.E cloned in the scanner.
Gears of War horde mode has a buy in feature similar to such, just minus the cloning bit.

This actually happened on yawn station with the sanctum crew. The admins got pissed at us and put us in the gateway, hoping for us to probably die inside. We instead fought off waves of ai xenos with looted pulse rifles and stuff, eventually cleared out the gateway, came back with our guns and armor, and occupied the bar. HoS went to shit, and killed Dino, I avenged him and it was gameover.
All in all, ai xenos are fun to fight, especially when you've got a cool squad and mortality is an actual issue.

I really want this to be accepted and play this mode.
