Marines fail defenses as engineers and command become even more crucial.

No-Retreat by itself is not a solution. You need constant resupply and reinforcements.

Re: Marines should be losing.
Honestly as a 24/7 marine player I enjoy both winning and loosing in equal all depending on the challenges we face before our victory or defeat but the fact is as things are now your forcing marine players to constantly change their way of doing things to deal with consistently re-buffed aliens. ((Cool thing to note, ravagers are now faster then smartgun rounds when on weeds. Totally something we needed to add *Sarcasm off)).
I understand aliens being more dangerous then the marines but the fact is if your going to use cannon lore to justify unbalancing the game to aliens you have to take into account the MASSIVE number of non cannon buffs and abilities aliens have been granted or marines have had removed to give them an advantage. Such as 1: Queens cannot move when in the egg laying state due to the egg sac and having a very mobile actively partaking in major combat queen is against everything the hive stands for as the loss of the queen is cannon wise a MAJOR loss instead of the temp annoyance we have now 2: Aliens in most cases are not big enough to swallow a live human whole nor would they due to the risk of disrupting the facehuggers attempt to insert the larva 3: They do not eat dead hosts as they gain nothing from it 4:Aliens other then queen, warrior and praetorian do not evolve from royal jelly and are all based on their original host as they use the host's genetics to design the body. 5: Where are our motion detectors...
In short if we are going to set a reason for why the aliens have a better chance to win lots not do a disservice to ourselves and the game by claiming lore ((Because hey cloning is lore but it is the midst of being removed even though Ripley was cloned from a couple strands of dna from her hair.)) And instead admit why we are doing it, for a better feeling and more enjoyable overall game experience.
Over all I'm all for like a 30/70 ratio as long as we are honest cause I'm tired of this selective cannon bs. We cannot use it as a reason if we are not going to enforce it in every instance where cannon is breached.
Also if we do this we need to start white listing commanders, no more of this troll bs or them going ssd 2 minutes in. They do that it should be an instant job ban for life from any command position. Aliens being robust or marines screwing up can end a game after a time, but a shitty commander can sentence the round to a horrible and quick end.

The only thing worse than a shitty CO is having no command down to the CE at roundstart, which is common enough as it is. Maybe job ban people who are consistently misusing the role, but certainly don't whitelist it.tenshar wrote: Also if we do this we need to start white listing commanders, no more of this troll bs or them going ssd 2 minutes in. Re: Marines should be losing.
Always love a sulaco finish as scouring a planet is boring as fuck.
I love that aliens are more powerful and have that awesome extra speed which when cooperatively used can demoralize marines like crazy( e.x. working as a team of hunters flurrying around tablefort so they burn up ammo then rushing in when they have to reload or run out of supplies). It also discourages most people from going rambo
When marines actually cooperate and build decent FOBS and only going out with full squads it turns into really fun sieges on the planet before the inevitable sulaco siege. Ive only managed 2 rounds on the ice planet and im mixed on its as the xenos lose all their attack speed on the surface making them easier targets.
The thing that irritates me most is marines seeing their first runner near the river and instantly going full raider on the caves early round. If a queen isnt on their game and they end up hitting the round start hosts it leaves xenos limping for the rest of the round

I don't know whether this should go here or in the Ice Colony thread, but that map seems to have some flow issues. I've seen more rounds than typical get ended in admin intervention. Not enough evidence but maybe it's because marines are patrolling around instead of sitting in some nexus analogue. Seems to actually be working well for them, just too hard to finish off the xenos on the ice colony.
