Bar being built almost every round - why?

Yeah, MT's get bored, but I've seen this trend happening more and more. As a CO the other day I had to go over myself with a BO to corral the marines out of the fuckin thing down to the hangar - and the bar wasn't even selling alcohol.

It diverts a lot of attention away from the mission and makes command & SL's jobs even harder because a lot of players would rather ignore the xeno threat and drink fancy drinks - fair play, even wants to have fun in their own way, but I feel like when you play CM you sign an unspoken game contract because this server is not like a typical SS13 server.

As such, the bar stands against everything that the server does. If the xenos just fucked around in the hive for hours and chatted about how content they are to stay close to mother and suckle on her sweet, sweet royal jelly they will eventually get steamrolled by the marines and the xeno players who DID try would just be extra salty.

As I said, when you play on the CM server I feel you should play to the server's specifications - fight as a baldie/xeno and help your side win. Don't jerk off to Angelo's impressive bar building skills and sip appletinis 'til the xenos slash your fuckin' head off.

But serioiusly this is fine, if a merine wants to get drunk while they wait they can. If the shuttle is here for them to leave they can either grab a already made drink or gtfo. I dont see how this breaks away from the mission at all. Your way of making the xenos do the same is just wrong as they cant do that, they must attack or of the queen says otherwise it dont matter. That would be breaking rp since xenos arnt ment to just sit around and chat. The marines are a different story as they have reasons such as well, they fucking marines!

Heh. That was me that round as well. As for it diverting marines, I was the bartender, and I served maybe... 10 different people the whole round? Most marines look, and ignore it. A few RP for a few minutes. But the bored ones, the staff with no jobs (CL, survivors), THEY tend to congregate. Gives them something to do. Also, MT usually is a thankless job. We set the engine, hack a few machines, and that's IT. The good ones build cameras, and set atmos, but we really don't need to do anything else. Additionally, it breaks up the meta a little bit, gives SOMETHING new besides "OH WOW, LETS ACT SURPRISED THAT THERE ARE AYYLMAOS HERE! I WONDER if they can INFECT US with some sort of face...hugger..." :D

So far, I have built a bar... twice. Others have done so, but I haven't seen any.

As the CO, if you don't want it, tell your staff. That first round, you told me to take it down, AND I DID. We're usually nice about it.

But in the end, I will keep building bars. Not every round, there were 5-6 between it over the last few days that I FoB maint tech'd it, but whenever I feel the calling... that hidden job preference visible only to the chosen few... of bartender.

Pretty much, yeah. As CE/MT, I can fuck around with the SM (*BWOINK* Why is the aft of the ship GONE?), oor fuck around with telecom scripting (selective mute is fun, but *BWOINK* WHY ARE COMMS DOWN?), oor go to the FoB as a shitty combat engi with extra rules (usual choice, when applicable), or build something cool.
Bar is the easiest, and most rewarding of these.

Mining asteroids please.

Requisition and engineering get resources/building materials, including stuff Req can send away for more requisition points (like diamonds/gold/silver, etc).

Research gets analyzer/building materials.

Engineering gets shit to do.

Everyone wins.

Sounds like busy work though, so far as I can tell; repairing nodes or something like that. Mining is fun _and_ useful.

I think that making a bar in the cafeteria is pretty bad RP wise, but I wish secret bars in the observation room or somewhere else hidden happened more often.

all grief friendly servers are safe spaces for players who got laughed at in OOC from hippie, who got outrobusted by doctors in CM, who got stunbatonned mercilessly to death by security in paradise, no wonders these "griefers" come to us.

To be fair, a Doctor can outrobust pretty much anyone with casual ease, even a Predator, via chems, a hypospray and a spray bottle; never leave home without your Chloral/Soporific mix.
