Aliens and Stasis/Bodybags
Alright so, there have been numerous times where a alien has stumbled across a bodybag or stasisbag and opened it killing the person inside or eating them. Now I know it should be totally fair game and because "Muh Balance" or whatever but should it really? Aliens walk right up and end up killing and eating the person inside breaking 'immershun' since they have no idea what the bag even does. There is a total difference of a bag lying around after the nexus has fallen or in alien territory and one next to the LZ ready for pickup. So I wanted to see what both alien and marine players think of this and if there should be a rule about it or not. In my personal opinion, its mixed. Aliens should only be able to do so if the bag is in enemy territory or left behind, not when its at the LZ where its ready or in a unguarded medbay area. So please, give your thoughts and opinions on this.

Re: Aliens and Stasis/Bodybags
Technically, an alien wouldn't consider a marine in a stasis bag alive, since it's a, well, STASIS bag. And players in bags don't count towards victory, so there would be no harm in preventing that somehow.
Inb4 marines all jump into stasis bags as they see the horde draw near and laugh at aliens staring cluelessly.

Re: Aliens and Stasis/Bodybags
So, let's break this down.
If a face hugger can break into a cryo storage unit aboard the Sulaco in canon.
There's an issue with a very big, very dangerous alien breaking through a bag, to kill a human on a planet in an active combat zone.
Let me say that again, active combat zone, transport hubs and lz's should be protected, medical lines and supply lines should be protected, it is not up to the xeno to not exploit a marine failing.
Marine mistakes are a xeno's best friend and some random, "YOU CAN'T KILL IN MY SPECIAL PLACE, I CALLED HOME." rule is really not worth discussion.
I would be happy to hear how I am incorrect on these points.

Aliens know cryo does not mean dead.

Um, I'm just going to go off the game mechanics here and say, if Aliens can see marines through walls, they can see them through a bag.

Re: Aliens and Stasis/Bodybags
Aliens use the thermals code, the cold metal messes up the thermals because of the proximity to the metal. This is, of course, if the xenomorphs in our lore have thermal sight, that is.NoShamNoWow wrote: But marines can go in lockers and disposal units and aliens cant see them :/

if aliens can see through a bag and through the walls, why didn't it do that in isolation and see the player through the walls, doors and lockers.

Re: Aliens and Stasis/Bodybags
Canon, aliens know life in cryo regardless.
See Ripley's intentional infection in aliens 3.
You may argue, "Hey whistle, maybe the pod failed first."
True, however it was alien blood used to attempt to gain access, as seen in avp, when the aliens self harm to melt the chains from the queen, they are smart enough.
And it would have to be intentional.

Re: Aliens and Stasis/Bodybags
doesn't answer that, and if you want another example of of aliens not seeing people in lockers, it's been in acm stasis interrupted I think, there was a cutscene where a scientist hides in the locker but is killed by the alien because he squirms too much or something.Egorkor wrote:if aliens can see through a bag and through the walls, why didn't it do that in isolation and see the player through the walls, doors and lockers.
both of these games are also canon.

Re: Aliens and Stasis/Bodybags
While in canon aliens don't have xray/life vision, they would still be smart enough to look inside the host sized bag, with the host like profile, cryo or bodybag regardless.
Hosts hide in all sorts of places, xenos would look around, xenos would look in a bag.

Re: Aliens and Stasis/Bodybags
Not against them opening and hugging if alive. Am against just straight up eating people for no reason. Also from an rp stance is it really right to just leave people in stasis out in the open unattended knowing whats going on
