I've heard of it happening before, seems like if you can get enough meds in their system to cancel out the instant tox damage from bursting, they'll be fine, and from there it's just a matter of fixing internal damage that the game doesn't let you know that you have.

Plus the leftover toxin damage of course.

Pretty sure I earned the right to be called a robust survivor this round.

For some backstory, spawned as miner colonist and grabbed metal from cargo and a crowbar, went to west side of the map and dug into the cave, set up my own little home and became a cannibal who ate the dead colonists and looted from the marines, not even ONCE did I come into contact with a xeno or a marine (who was alive) and I was in my base when the round ended in an alien minor. I like to imagine my crazy hermit cannibal is living out his life in the jungle now, yes that is a pet slime.

Lots of people knew it was possible.
Also people with holes in their chests till get infected and can still burst and die from it. I removed three chest bursters from a guy post-burst once. He died to decapping in sulaco defense. RIP.
The only major benefit is that they ALWAYS appear as if they are infected to aliens. So it can be difficult to guess if a hugger will work or not.
