Why Do People Like Saul?

Before you go clicking that ban button, this is surprisingly not my usual shitposting.

While some people may have a different opinion, alot of people I've seen give me a good response to Saul Freytia when I play him.

The question has been eating away the back of my mind until I had to make this thread in all seriousness.

Why do people prefer when I play Saul over my other characters? Why do people like him?

I have effectively built a character even his own mother would hate to be around, but out of any online community I have ever been in or around, I have made the most friends in Colonial Marines. And since I mainly play Saul and that's the in-game face people see me as, I can't help but wonder why that is.

One would think I would get serious negative feedback regarding a character I play as an abraisive egotistical asshole. But it's primarily the opposite.

When I personally ask people this question I've gotten responses like, "He's funny. Like the class clown of CM." Or, "People tend to like assholes."

So consider this a sort of study and respond to it with as serious of a reply as you can manage.

Ermmm first two posts about yah weren't so good. For those wondering on who the hell this guy guy is, it's. Saul Freytia. I don't know just the way your character makes you that that likeable asshole. I remember a time in HGTV you were pleading for help, I could of just went in with my hatchet while you were leg cuffed, but didn't. Even though you had fractures still ended me decaping, anyhow back to what I was saying, pretty good squadmate to be with, I'd choose you somebody who actually know their shit, and giggles rather a damn baldie.

I like Saul as a character because he is one of the only characters that actually goes out of his way to play a unique character rp wise , he is a shitler and a joker , meanwhile all the other marines are stereotypical marines wanted to shoot and kill not interested in anything else (except for maybe hating the CO) meanwhile Saul just stole your gun while you weren't looking.

I think people like saul because he's unique..even if, as barclay would put it, "a soulpatch wearin' shittah". Personally, I despise him ic'ly, but find him a unique twice ooc'ly

I'm going to completely honest, I don't particularly like any specific character on CM, but I guess I sorta-like Saul, just because he's an assholish character. I'm assholish the entire time, regardless of character, so I can relate to him. Salt Freytia joke was a good one, too.

Honestly I like Saul more IC than OOC. IC he's an interesting influence on the marine dynamic, and gives people more things to talk and banter over. He's in general a good person to have around because he changes things up so much. He's different, and people like to shit talk him IC or have him talk shit to them.

OOC you kind of piss me off with your constant Saul shitposts and all. I feel like you use his IC characterization to try to get yourself known in the community, and it's tiresome to see "where's badass saul freytia in this picture durr" on every thread. If you let people recognize you for it and didn't try so hard, I think people would appreciate him even more, because he isn't constantly being rubbed in everyone's faces.
