ID theft rule and survivors

Post by DrPillzRedux » 20 Aug 2016, 22:55

So I was playing as survivor last night and I didn't want to get rescued. The CO had declared me a terrorist for taking stuff from a dead marine (something many survivors do), despite me never being hostile or inhibiting the marines. I then took gear off an unconcious SL and disguised as them. I was then told that I'd be facing a ban if I did not return the ID as even survivors are not exempt from it. Even though the marine CO had declared me a hostile, despite doing barely anything, I was not allowed to do something as little as hide.

I find this extremely silly. First of all, a lot of survivors will take things from dead marines. It's a common story here. Second, survivors have the option to resist being rescued. The marines WILL look for them, so why is it not okay to try and blend in? The mask/ID mechanic is still in. What's the point if it's not allowed? Silly stuff like this really ruins cool situations.

If the SL gets cloned, it'll be hard to properly replace his ID, due to how the ID system in this server works.

So it is a bad idea to take such sensitive items from dead marines. Armor is fine, but an ID is pushing it.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

I've never had a problem with it as a BO/XO/CO though? Pop in two computers and boom.

Upgrading IDs or making new ones with any access is against the rules.

Sorry but this is possibly the worst rule I've ever seen on an SS13 server, no offense.

I think so too, but that's how it is unfortunately.

The reason it is against the rules is that spawning is tied to IDs, so you can screw it up if you're changing/upgrading, though basic no access are safe.
