Gameplay Discussion: Macros

What's your thoughts opinion on macros?

I'd like to start with this statement: "Fuck Xenomorph macros in general."

I am very salty about macros. I'd really, really be in favor of restricting macros to marines and for use exclusively with operating weapons. If your macro does something a human player can't and it's not something simple like pumping a shotgun, it should be a bannable offence. And this isn't a matter of "Oh, but we can't tell." It's obvious when someone is using a harmful macro, such as the one mentioned above.

the thing with macros is, you enable them for everybody, or nobody

Xenos use verbs for pretty much all their functions and are ability based not equipment based the way marines are.

It is absolutely unacceptable to suggest a queen should need to go to the tab and click the verb while a marine can use a macro to pump their shotgun.

Ventcrawling being instant is a separate issue, and pouncing is already assigned to middle click.

Only macros I use are v for toggle darkvision and c for ready tail attack. What would you consider to be a "harmful/bannable macro"?
As an alien, I am an advocate for ancient spitters.
As a marine, I'm either an Indian tech support BO or a friendly-firing power donkey.

Macros in ANY game are always debatable. I myself don't prefer to use them, even it means my performance will suffer as a whole.

But yeah, sometimes I wish there weren't macros, and people had to play on even footing instead of having the ability to press a single button and complete a series of actions in a second.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

macros shouldn't be used to do anything a human couldn't

aside from that anything goes imo

I have some basic weapon macros for marines, never really invested too deeply into the macro system. So I'm surprised to hear that aliens can macro their pounce to auto target mobs. That.. explains a lot, and is incredibly frustrating.
