Petition to remove resin handcuffs

Post by Recounted » 02 Oct 2016, 23:26

We all heard the cries of the marines whining about this. We all know we all complained about it while being trapped in a nest surrounded by 25 xenos. Now with a admin who did a vote if we wanted to remove it, with a majority of us saying yes, yes we would like to remove it. So now im here to collect a signature of al the players who wished resin cuffs were removed.

Well I mean, I wouldn't mind them being gone.

But come on, there are better ways to do this.

In lore, NO ONE escapes a nest unaided.

Ingame, marines either SSD, oor call out their precise location, get up, and use their hugger immunity and like 12 handguns to kill anything they can reach, be it a drone, the SSD larva swarm, or their hugged "friends".

What you just said explains a hive with a queen who tells no xeno to watch over host I been captured many times to know the moment you get up that you will be thrown right back in the nest

And now we are in the forums where we can think of a replacement rather than remove it and there be chaos in the nests.

Okay. Remove resin cuffs, which gives marines a better chance of escape. BUT, if a marine DOES burst, he becomes uncloneable to balance it out.

Without cuffs it becomes impossible to give marines a sporting chance to escape without also allowing them to instantly double nade you. I will have to instantly neurotox whenever they resist out of the nest, not even risk disarming.
The only way I can advocate removal of resincuffs if the time to unnest becomes at least 8 minutes. So you really need to time it, instead of spamming it and trying to get RNG to go in your favor so you can suicide.

Yeah, it helps when people don't smack the escape button as soon as they're resined in. If they were removed, I'd go with Suro's idea. Though Drones get 1 less thing to do.

I'd argue keep legcuffs.

Remove resin handcuffs but in return (which is less punishing) add a delay to clicking things for 1 minute if you freed yourself from a nest. That way it could be treated as if there was still resin stuck to you and hampers your movement. However this also gives the xenos a better chance to subduing people without relying on something that takes 90% of the interaction a player can have in the game. Thoughts?

Gonna link some related posts to resin cuffs so you guys can read them up yourselves.
"Let's change up Resin cuffs rather then remove em." > viewtopic.php?f=59&t=7151
"the salty topic: remove resin handcuffs" > viewtopic.php?f=59&t=6818
"faster way to remove resin cuffs" > viewtopic.php?f=59&t=7253

I'm neutral on resin cuffs myself, perhaps cause I play both ayylmaos and muhreens.

+1, i don't know why people balance aliens based on stupidity, aliens don't even eed resin cuffs in the first place, all they need to do is to prepare checkboard nest prior to infecting marines, separate the marines at least 3 to 4 tiles away from each other and have a sentinel and drone guarding them, i mean, is that TOO MUCH TO ASK? can aliens be competent for once?

Why would a drone be involved when resincuffs are removed? And why would you not put them all in a + shape so one sentinel can guard 4 hosts? He has to spit as soon as they stand up, you're just making his job harder.
Unless...you want them to kill themself with no way for the ayys to stop them?

its funny how you think you can vote this out like its a democracy or something, you dont vote around here, you just adapt

as to my opinion, im neutral as life will be hell for xenos if they lose resin cuffs

Well if anything we should have a serious discussion on this instead of saying their based on stupidity, incompetence, etc. Since that doesn't benefit anyone NOR does it expand WHY we don't like it or why it doesn't work.

I've been on both ends of the resin cuff system, I've also been at the hands of those who did abuse the resin cuff system as well.

Here's why people who play marine often don't like it, is because it actually takes the controls away from your character. In a situation that in their belief that they should have. Which is mostly true, mainly because we assume since we escaped (and phrasing matters alot when it comes to this) that we are free to control our character. However with resin cuffs that freedom is broken, while yes for .3 of a minute but that's still fairly long when most actions take seconds or even less than seconds to happen.
I've even been at the hands of abuse using the resin cuff system. Where I was getting dragged between nests resetting my resist timer and getting tackled so i couldn't escape my resincuffs inbetween the nests. This gave me actually no chance to escape (until I ahelped it and even then it wasn't in my opinion the best outcome, mainly because nothing was done to boost me because "I was too far in the nest and there was no chance i was getting out anyway".). In a way its sort of a trust that is violated for the marines in the game mechanics. Marines trust they'll have a chance to escape or to suicide if they break out, this violates the trust that's been there for a while by basically still having you removed from the controls. This type of trust is why people don't get angry over normal handcuffs or just being nested.

I know there are people who don't like resincuffs on the xeno team as well. While most of their opinions are often other xenos that can't watch a human in a checkerboard nest without resin cuffs is a bad player or something along the lines of that. Its not something thats determined by any system so i don't have much of that in here.
Then there's the fact that checkerboards are really good at keeping people in. Its sometimes questionable that resincuffs were originally suppose to remove checkerboard tactics (I'm pretty sure someone high up said that) and what happened was that it made it WORSE. So some people argue that checkerboard is enough.

Now we have to ask ourselves are resincuffs worth whatever trade off it has. While many xenos will agree that they're good. It lessens the burden of watching hosts who in the lore where never able to escape on their own. It also lets other xenos play more offensively which people argue both ways because there should be some xenos defending or what not.

So if were to replace resincuffs with something else, then we have to do something that allows us to have some freedom for our marine (we don't have to give unilateral freedom to a marine escaping) while also making him a much easier target to subdue. Which is why i posted my idea of where there are no resin cuffs but you have a much larger click delay if you free yourself from a nest. This prevents you from being too much of a threat able to rapid fire 3 mags into a xeno or avoid working with other marines to escape. While also making you easier to subdue again as a xeno since no longer are they unloading bullets into you quickly. This still will let you suicide but it takes longer which give xenos a better chance to once again place you in the nest. However we gain the ability to do what we want to and have control once again.

And yes, its not a democracy, but if you provide logical answers, good explanations, and a good answer/plan then something might change.
