On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?
I am pretty sure that I can be on server for like 15 hours in a week or more.

Yep, I was a staff member on one SS13 server for 6 months.

Eh, I play only on CM for like 5 months or so.

I received just one ban like this: jobban on MP/CMP(Bans were lifted like 2 months ago).

Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each of the following situations. Do not write on the same line as the situation - use the space below it or make space as needed. Failure to do this proves your inability to follow instructions and your application will be automatically denied.

1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
I would PM all involved players to investigate this situation from different sides. There are 3 variants after this: 1)Missclick: Offender will receive a warning, victim will be healed by admins. 2)It was on purpose and involved players are dissatisfied: Offender will receive a ban depending on his previous rule violations. and some notes, victim will be healed. 3)It was on purpose, but all involved players are fine with this(including victim): I will let them to continue this RP stuff, but shooter will be warned that next time they would receive a ban next time.


2. The ship has a breach to space and a bunch of players have died or are dying as a result.
I would heal all victims and ask an Administrator to fix the breach (It's most likely impossible for players to create a breach, but I would investigate the situation and find out what exactly happened).


3. You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost.
I would tell a mentor to help him. If there are no mentors, I will help by myself/request some mentors in Slack.(In some cases it's possible to ask other players to help him with using of LOOC).


4. A player is being very rude to you in Adminhelps and requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
I would hand them up to a higher staff member(if they are not busy). If they are busy, I will wait for them and then hand this player up to the higher staff. I will also inform the staff member that the player was rude to me. Possibly add some notes about his bad behaviour in Ahelp.


5. You notice a player with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules. The player is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, no one has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
I would tell them that no one has noticed this name doesnt fit the rules. I will ask him to change his name after the round. If he keeps arguing, I will give him a ban depending on his previous rule violations. Add notes.

6. You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green with no threat present.
First of all, I would check the notes.
1)If this happened for the first time, I will just warn him that he is not supposed to carry such equipment in green code. I will also ask him to drop/return that equipment on its place. Possibly some notes.
2)If this is not the first time, I would give a ban depending on previous rule violations. And of course some notes.

7. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
I would PM him and tell that Squad Medics can't perform surgery in any situations. Then I will give him a warning/ban depending on previous rule violations. Add notes.


8. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
I would inspire one side for pushing by such tools as subtile message or send message as High Command/Queen Mother report.



9. The round ends, a MARINE starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member Adminhelps complaining he was killed after the round ended.
I will tell the CLF player that this is not against rules. EORG rule only applies in FF situations(UPP member killing UPP member, marine killing marine, etc).


10. A marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start.
Welp, such actions are forbidden by the rule number 4. I would give a warning and write a note. If player continues to do so, I would give a ban.

11. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
Such actions are forbidden by a rule number 14. I would inform the player that he wouldnt shoot someone IRL for punching them. Then I will give a warning/ban depending on previous rule violations and heal the victim. Add notes.


12. An issue arises that requires Admin+ abilities.
Check if there are any Administrators in game. Then ask for help or request one Administrator in Slack.



13. There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
I would perceive this situation as IC unless comments are major/target player or players in particular.



14. A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
First of all, I will heal all victims to get the round going as usual. Then I would give a 7 day ban, write a note and request a perma ban for this player.

15. You see a player playing a xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines and die.
I would inform the player that his actions were against rules(Probably rule number 11) and give a warning/jobban depending on previous rule violations. Add notes.

16. You see a xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat.
I will ask the player to stop and inform him that Xenomorph is a medium RP role and he can't write something like this In Character. Then I would give a warning/jobban depending on previous rule violations. Add notes.


17. A xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different xeno player complains to you that it's metagaming/failRP to call it a "dropship".
I would PM the complainant and explain him that this is not against rules or roleplay standards(Xeno hivemind is an English translation of their thoughts so words such as “hydro” or “shuttle” are acceptable).


18. A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet.
I would investigate the situation and ask the player about the source of such information. Then I would give a warning/jobban or let it be depending on the situation and previous rule violations. Add notes.


19. A Marine kills another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself.
Two variants here: 1)It was RPed properly. No intervention. 2)It wasnt PRed properly. Offender will receive a ban/warning depending on previous rule violations. Add notes.


20. You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforcing a rule.
I will tell him that his actions were wrong. If staff member continues to do so, I would inform the Manager and let them handle the situation.

20a. You see a fellow staff member abusing his powers in-game.
I will inform the Manager or Senior Moderator/Admnistrator about this and let them handle the situation from there.


21. You see a player talking in OOC chat about what he did with your mom last night.
This is shitposting, who cares?

Ok so I went through some of your questions and just a couple quick questions and responses

1. In regard to it being a misclick, when you say warn them do you mean just saying "dont do that again" or giving them an actual warning and note?

4. Sometimes admins won't respond, and you need to be able to use some verbal judo and de-escalate issues with a player. Do you think you would have an issue with this?

Now two quick "What if" scenarios for you

1. A Young Boiler is going around on Big Red melting flares, and they are by themselves. Suddenly a predator uncloaks, points to the boiler, does a *roar, and charges full speed with dual blades and goes to town on the boiler killing them. The boiler ahelps "I was minding my own buisness and a predator just killed me, all I was doing was melting flares." How would you handle this?

2. A marine starts to get mouthy with an MP, and the MP says he's about to be arrested for insubordination. The marine punches the MP, and the MP responds by taking out his baton and beating the marine to death while you're observing. The player then ahelps "This MP just went crazy and beat me to death." How would you handle this?

Welp, about responses:

1)There is no real reason to give an actual warning in a case of accident. I would just say "don't do this again and be careful with pushing buttons".

4)I am pretty more than sure that I can make a contact with nearly anyone, so I won't have any problems with finding of resolution by myself.

About scenarios:

1) Welp, this is a tricky one for me. As I know, Boiler counts as Innocent prey(This caste really has nothing to do with predators). Predator can't attack such prey in the most cases. This is about whitelists anyway, so I will inform Predator Council, whitelist manager and also will ask a player to make a report because it's not enough to give only a normal ban or something like this.

2)Thats a violation of rules number 14 and 15. There was literally no reason to beat a marine to death. MPs are also held by higher standarts of conduct, so the punishment will be more strict. I would give a jobban and a 3 hour ban to MP and heal a victim. And of course adding notes.

Welp, about the reasons:

1)I actually want to try something new. Like.. I was a staff member on another server, but it really differs from CM.

2)I can cover low-pop time, so it's possible for me to moderate a server in such time.

3)I actually improved since May and want to prove it, really.


About skills:

I actually don't really experienced in mapping or coding/spriting, but I can learn it if needed.

Breaches, I'm pretty sure, can't happen anymore. However, the one occassion where you may not want to wall off the area is when a Pred goes boom, as rare as it might be onboard the Almayer.

No. Players don't get the luxury of picking and choosing the staff they get to talk to. If the player isn't satisfied with how you deal with the situation they are free to open up a staff report on the forums.

Players do indeed need to abide by a staff's ruling. However, check with the other staff to see if they didn't previously ok the name, sometimes this stuff get's missed. If it's a staff that's been long gone then I wouldn't worry about this to much. None the less, get them to change the name. They can appeal it on the forums if they don't like it.

If this is the person's first note, you don't necessaraly need to jump straight to a perma. Give them a hefty ban, unless they have existing notes/bans in relation to this type of behavior, then by all means file for a perma

Wouldn't really be a job ban/ban scenario, unless it's a perpetual issue. Just SM them to preserve the atmosphere and immersion, unless of course they don't listen, then boink PM them.

Considering the note you just got and also being accepted as Commander I'm going to say this, play more and prove slip ups won't be happening, a slip of for meta during your mod app is a big red flag.
