This was initially my curiosity into being a Mentor however after being informed of the lack of spaces and the fact I don’t need to make an app like this and can merely message Jerkface I am changing it to a Moderator Application. It is not necessarily completed but is in significantly better condition that originally.

Due to my semi busy schedule my availability fluctuates dependent on the day, on average I would estimate I am available somewhere around 30 hours a week.

No, I recently (about a month ago) resigned my post on JKJA: MBII as I no longer felt it was the right place for me to be and I had lost interest in the game after becoming addicted to SS13 and CM specifically.

I have had several bans here of varying lengths due to failures to keep my actions within the rules but none over 24 hours.
1. 180 minutes (3 hours) for EORG.
2. 180 minutes (3 hours) for SSD at round start (Parents divorced, had to go to the other house right after round start, intended to continue playing upon arrival)
3. 720 minutes {12 hours) for execution of the CE as SO (Killed CE following a fight which was caused by the CE insulting my character.)
3b. I have an active Job Ban on Executive and Staff officers.
4. 1440 minutes (24 hours) threw CL down disposals because they refused to leave my operating room (apologized immediately afterwards as I realized this was a massive overstep. Cryoed myself after being warned I would be banned my actions)

Write a description of what you would do in each of the following situations. Do not write on the same line as the situation - use the space below it or make space as needed. Failure to do this proves your inability to follow instructions and your application will be automatically denied.

1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
Contact the player and inform them how they have breached the rules, explain that they can face lengthy bans for doing so. Attempt to discover the reasonings behind the attack so as to determine if it was malicious or not.
I would confer with any available higher-ups about the situation, because in some instances it has malicious intent and in others it's just plain idiocy, I am generally quite forgiving and would not immediately peruse a ban unless the player's notes indicate they have done this before or generally cause trouble for the hell of it (even in this instance I would seek both sides of the story and try to resolve without having to ban them). I would furthermore add a note to the player referencing the incident and it's resolution.

I would allow the MPs to continue to arrest the player, and possibly send an SM to place them into brig Cryo dependent on the OOC resolution. Regardless of what happens OOC they still broke marine law and will be required to face the determined punishment.

2. The ship has a breach to space and a bunch of players have died or are dying as a result.
Firstly I would determine the source of the breach, fix it if it is within my power and the cause is something accidental or malicious.
If the cause is determined to be malicious aHeal the injured or dead marines that suffered due to rapid loss of atmosphere and then locate and question the culprit before attaching a note to them, additionally place a short ban on them after confirmation from higher-up if available.
I would SM the CE and/or the aCO to inform them there was an atmospheric breach and that it has now been sealed, along with recommending extensive repairs at the next port. I would also include a quick casualty report.

3. You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost.
I would PM the player and ask if they are new to the server or game, if they answer in the affirmative I would guide them through the basics of the game, how to interact with things such as weapon reloads, equipment selection, ranks & skill structure etc. If a mentor is available I would direct them towards the player, if not I am more than happy to help them myself as has been stated. In addition, if no mentors are online I would ping one on Slack and inform them that there is a new player online and recommend they keep an eye on them best as possible just encase they need a bit more help or clarification.

This is something I have done recently, today as a matter of fact, I walked a PO through how to use a weapon and how the drop ship operates along with a quick tour of the hangar and the bits of it relevant to the PO, I'd have done more but I was required ICly elsewhere and I had shown the basics they would need to be effective.

4. A player is being very rude to you in Adminhelps and requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
Personally I behave differently dependent on the setting, when dealing with things from an administrative point of view I remain calm, civil and mediate things fairly well, whereas IC I might react... harshly in some circumstances. I would ask why they wish to speak with an Admin or higher and if needed direct one to them however in usual circumstances they don't get to choose, if they flat out refuse to cooperate reasonably I would apply a note.
If their behavior progresses to a more serious form of disorderly behavior I would give them a warning and a further note.

5. You notice a player with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules. The player is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, no one has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
Inform them that whether they knew it or not, it is a rule. As it states upon round start and join that "Ignorance is not an excuse" their not knowing it will not make them exempt from it. Additionally just because no one has noticed before it is still against the rules. Some investigation may of course me merited, including brief research and inquiry to the higher ups to consolidate an opinion before complete action is taken. If the name is a serious breach I would ask an admin to force change it and warn the player, if needed I would add a note and warn them not to use names like that again, rules are rules.


6. You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green with no threat present.
PM them and ask why they are geared up so heavily, if they have a valid reason, such as going down to deploy or just returning from a deployment I would allow them to continue but keep an eye on them for a short period. If they have no reason to be so armed I would tell them to return all the gear immediately as it is LRP, if they do not I would at first use SSM to inform MPs and alert them to the situation, if the MT engages in hostilities I may take more severe action such as putting them to sleep and healing any injuries as there would be no reason for the MT to open fire on MPs (I would check logs and talk with the MT to ensure I didn't miss something that arguably gave the MT proper escalation and then confer with a senior.)

7. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
I would PM them to stop immediately and have them seal the wound afterwards I would tell them that ONLY doctors/researchers/CMO/Synthetic can perform surgery. Medics are COMPLETELY forbidden from doing so.

8. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
SM and/or Queen Mother and indicate the number of opposition. I would give the _acting commander an SM indicating the xenos are low on numbers and/or a rough location. I would do similar to the queen (if no queen each xeno) and prompt them to attack relentlessly in an attempt to destroy as many marines as possible and avenge their fallen. I may instead send a message from USCM High Command telling the marines to get a move on as ARES reports situation nominal & OPFOR almost wiped out.

9. The round ends, a MARINE starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member Adminhelps complaining he was killed after the round ended.
This, whilst perhaps dissatisfying is not against the rules, CLF is not friendly with the USCM and the marines are perfectly at liberty to take action, if the CLF is not engaging it might have been preferrable to capture them, but at the end of the day the marines are just as likely to decapitate someone by handcuffs as by an SMG. I might also SM the marine something along the lines of "You feel it would have been better to capture the CLF" as shooting a hostile soldier that is not fighting back could be considered... barbaric.

10. A marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start.
Put them to sleep if needed, but originally PM them and ask them to stop. I would remind them that this is not advisable, MPs would be informed if necessary. This is very close to, and can be under, the No Griefing rule and therefore there is minimal leeway, I would include this information in my PM and suggest they read the rules closer as round-start rule-breaks are taken quite seriously due to their potential impacts..

11. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
This is improper escalation of violence, indeed in the rules under Lethal Force it says "a fist fight does not suddenly turn into a gun fight" I would give them a note and warning, possibly also apply a short ban after review of the offender's notes. I would consider an aHeal on the dead marine dependent on the IC situation for the fight and round time.

12. An issue arises that requires Admin+ abilities.
Inform any available Admin (either via in-game communication or Slack) of the situation and give them a brief overview of the issue if they aren't in game.

13. There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
Speak with the concerned player and determine the cause of their upset. If needed I would PM the offending player and ask them to apologies and then halt their behavior but also tell the concerned player it was likely not meant in offence, bravado and banter is commonplace in communities like this.

14. A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
Apply a ban and inform higher-ups asking them to escalate this up to where it needs to be. This is not tolerated and is rather a pathetic thing to do.

15. You see a player playing a xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines and die.
Ask them why they did it, if they intentionally suicide add a note and warn them, even if they give satisfactory reasons as to their actions I would likely apply a note just as a point of reference for any future incident.

16. You see a xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat.
Either PM them and tell them to stop or use Queen Mother to inquire what the hell is going on with my children (or both). Add a note to the offender.

17. A xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different xeno player complains to you that it's metagaming/failRP to call it a "dropship".
The aliens are a hivemind, they can call it whatever they like as the only real thing going on in their communication is a conveyance of thoughts. They can therefore call it a flying donkey and it is still permitted.

18. A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet.
PM them to ask why they mentioned Aliens while triple checking there is no event I don't know of that has given them knowledge. Use OOC to tell the marines to disregard it. Add a note to the player and also check for any previous offences. If there are prior offences possibly add a small ban and confer with higher-ups.

19. A Marine kills another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself.
This is while perhaps extreme, a valid action, primal desire to survive make people do extreme things. The marine would likely be arrested upon rescue for their actions. If the dead marine complains I would explain this to them, I would also speak with the killer and tell them than they should try to find another way, but that in the long run it is acceptable.

20. You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforcing a rule.
Speak with the staff member about it, ask them to correct it but ONLY if I am certain that they made a mistake. If they do not correct it, I would do so and make note of the incident for future reference, though I would likely discard the information eventually unless I notice it again.

20a. You see a fellow staff member abusing his powers in-game.
Take screenshots of the action and inform someone the offender's manager as quickly as possible, do what I can to mend any damage IC or OOC.

21. You see a player talking in OOC chat about what he did with your mom last night.

I am filling all this out essentially because I want to help new people to the server, I cannot claim to know all the rules inside-out nor am I presently very active on the forums, I am applying because I wish to help, my primary motivation for doing this is that Grimcad ^{(other staff are available)} is always advertising that you are recruiting Moderators, whilst I do not believe I would be accepted as one as I have an active job ban and a record, there is no harm in offering and I have a great deal of experience handling administrative positions in games and communities.

As I mentioned about my knowledge of the rules, I have taken to checking them semi-frequently and I take administration VERY seriously. I understand that all staff are required to have an in-depth knowledge of the rules and whilst I currently cannot repeat them all from memory I have never intentionally broken them.

Yeah, you can delete this application. If you want to be a mentor, just PM Jerkface and if you want, you can make a pitch in that PM rather than an in an application post advertising why you should be a mentor.

I was struggling to decide the bests pairing to highlight it, I have (at least for now) removed the highlights from nearly everywhere if not everywhere.

As of within the next 18 hours approximately I can re-appeal for that ban, I’m not going to do so however as back to back appeals do not aid my chances. I intend on appealing within the next week however, it was requested I try and get more playtime without receiving notes, so far as I am aware I have done so. I appreciate your concern over it and I hope I will be able alleviate it.

IIRC, breaches can't happen any more, but good answer none the less. However, if a pred goes boom on the Almayer, it might be one of the few reasons that you would allow the scenario to continue on uninterrupted, as rare as said event might be.

I was aware of this, apologies for not making that known. I left it as it was as while not possible to deliberately breach the ship if it were done it is important to know how it would be dealt without I would of course not heal people if a predator caused the damage.

Of course. Personally I think the application format needs to be updated to clarify what can be done now after all the game changes, and also to remove the vague parts such as improper enforcement as it’s not directly mentioned.

This is being denied. I'm not a fan of you breaking rule 2 while having an active moderator application up, full well knowing it's breaching rule 2. If you can't show restraint, you're going to have a tough time on the team. Ontop of that, you have two active jobbans. I don't recall ever accepting a moderator with a single one, if you manage to appeal them successfully and go with a clean sheet for a month, I'd be more lenient. Until then, this'll stick.
