How would you define yourself? (Coder, Mapper, Spriter): Spriter

If Coder, what languages?
C++, C#, Python. I do not code professionally and while I can read and write code I am not an expert by any stretch.

Any previous experience developing with SS13?

How well do you know Git?
Used it for about a year at a startup and for some hobby projects.

Your primary job is server development, not policing the server. You may be given Moderator-level of access but you should *not* be invoking any administrative actions unless there are no moderators or Admins online. Do you understand? (Yes/No)
Yes! I have no interest in Moderating either. I wish to keep as far away from all of that as possible.

Anything else you'd like to add?
I would like to add damage states to Xenos, as well as replace old and out of date sprites like the Crashed Ship on Ice, and the Crashed Ship on Prison Station.
If needed I also wouldn't mind helping out with map sprites or other things from time to time.
I have a day job involving video games as well as a personal project but on the weekends I usually have a bunch of hours to spare that I usually waste watching random youtube videos!

I'm not a dev member, so I can't vote on this but... say I was, I really like what you are going for with the damage sprites.

Obviously not a dev, but the crusher sprites look really cool, but I'd just make the crest area look more chipped out than bloodied. Seeing xenos regen small parts of their bodies when they heal would be cool.

Yeah, the headcrest could also be chipped and less bloodied, easy changes. I did this one yesterday evening when I got home from work because I needed some sprites to apply with.
But to someone mentioning in Discord why it shows bone. Its the tankiest part of the tankiest xeno so bone seemed appropriate. For all other xenos I would just use flesh and blood.

Would be cool to see xenos showing a bit of their human-like skull too. Lots of possibilities with damage sprites

You will be issued a copy of our new spriter test by Triiodine in a day or two. You will have three weeks (extended a week due to the holidays) to complete the test and submit your finalized response to him, starting from the day you are issued the test.

Once you turn in your test 'answers' so to speak, your application will be discussed in full at the next applicable dev meeting in relation to your submission time.

Seeing as how I do not like the current direction the server is heading in and I do not have the energy nor will to argue every point against other people who appear to have fundamentally different views on the game I have decided to pull back my application.

What a disappointment. Those sprites and the idea behind them of enabling easier access to IC information really excited me. I hope you make Spriter sometime later.

Ok, I half saw this coming.
I might not have pointed it out clearly but I am not working on anything marine sided but the SG (one of the marine tools I mentioned.) And I gave my own opinion on stuff.
It is Neth who actually works on it. However, we should be able to have a conversation about stuff like this when we disagree without having to become upset.
We do discuss a lot and some ideas just are not that good in general. In general, I did not feel as if I managed to explain what I wanted in a way you understood what I wanted.
And that we were miscommunicating quite a bit.

I don't get why you argued with Awan about changes made by me, and got upset by his personal opinions on how marines should be balanced at the moment.

This has more to do with the decision to target a 65% +-5 win rate and just decisions that have been done over the past several months.
And of course Awans personal feelings in terms of balancing matter.
From personal experience, I can say, that dev teams that do not pull in the same direction ultimately end up pulling themselves apart instead. And I don't feel like I would be pulling the same direction and I don't want to be the guy that contributes to pulling the team apart so my choice is to simply take back my app. I believe it is for the best, no actual harm done.

Edit: The biggest lesson I have ever learned in game development. A single-minded team will at the end of the day produce better results than a diverse team with differing opinions. As counter-intuitive as that sounds.
