Kurugii - Moderator Application

Post by kurugi » 17 Aug 2015, 06:39

Byond ID: Kurugii

Colonial Marines Character: Kor Megron

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Timezone: EST; -5 GMT

On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?
20-40

Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?
I've co-owned and administrated a couple gaming servers such as Arma II DayZ Epoch, 7 Days to Die, and space engineers.

Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
No.

Have you had an application to Colonial Marines or New Eden denied before?
No.

Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where?
No.

Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines?
No.

If a player was shooting everyone in briefing at round start how would you deal with the situation?
I'd knock them out and message them asking if they had a reason for doing it. While waiting for a response I'd check the player's notes to see any other offences are on their record. If he responds, I'd inform him that griefing is not tolerated and make sure he understands why I have to punish him and give him a 1440 minute ban and record it on his record. If he doesn't respond, I'd message him again to make sure he didn't miss it and warn him that if he doesn't respond his punishment will be more severe. If he still doesn't respond or has logged out I'd give a 7 day ban and make a permaban request.

You notice that a xeno is breaching the Nostromo and is unable to seal it with resin. How would you deal with this and what punishment would you give for a first offender?
I'd message the xeno to ask why he made the breach and tell him that that's not allowed. If he understands or apologizes, I'd let it go. If he ignores it I'd give him a warning and make a note on is record. I'd also ask an admin to patch the breach.

The marines want the nuke codes to detonate the Nostromo because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who. What do you do?
If the round has gone on for a while and neither side is making progress I'd escalate it to a head of staff if one's online. If none are available or there's no reason for it I'd reply back as USMC saying I cannot authorize the use of the device.

A Sulaco Medic has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online. What do you do?
I'd message the marine to find out why he threw a grenade into logistics and if he knew it was napalm. Depending on why he did it and if he knew it was napalm I'd give him a warning and make a note on his record that he threw a grenade into logistics or up to a 3 day ban for griefing and napalm. I'd message the medic and inform him that he is responsible for any damage caused by marines using his grenades and that a medic should not be making grenades. I'd ban the medic for 1440 minutes for griefing and making napalm. I'd also make a note on the medic's record that he was making grenades as a medic.

What would you do if a player started to talk about the things he did to your mom last night?
I'd message him telling him to stop disrespecting staff and if he continues make a note on his record and kick him. If he came back and continued I'd make a second note and ban him for 1440 hours to see if he cools off.

Any additional information you'd like to add?
I'm currently unemployed. As such the times I can play are more open. When I find a job, it'll be more restricted. The hours I'm able to moderate per week most likely won't change. I have no experience with the ss13 administration system, but I am a quick learner and would be able to pick it up fairly quickly.

I didn't like your first question and the mother question.

7 Day Ban seems too long while you file a permanent ban.

You can mute, but you decide to go for the kick and the ban. Sometimes, you don't have to be hard on disrespectful players (it'll create more problems later).

Also, I don't know who you are.

5. Determine the punishment.
Try to determine the most minimum punishment possible. There's no reason to jump DIRECTLY to a ban, especially if the incident didn't cause a major disruption to the game. Try to use warnings, and if you do need to ban, don't go excessive. There are very few reasons to ban more than 12 hours. (Sample ban numbers will be in another section of this document). If you feel someone needs to receive a permanet ban, give them a ban for 14000 minutes (10 days) and make a post in the Permaban Request section of the admin forums, explaining the situation, and why you believe a permaban should be enforced. This should ONLY be done for repeat offenders, or direct griefers.

If after a warning and kick they still continue, a mute most likely won't help.

Good. You read the procedures, I was expecting you to do this. You're literally the only person who've done this to me. Just what I expect from the player.

Still, I don't know who you are. I'll change my opinion.

+1. Very active on the forums, active in game. Decent player and the activity time [until you get a job or whatever] is great.

Keep up the good stuff, mate.

Neutral but leaning towards a +1 given the fact of I have spoken to them and they seem a bit... Immature on some stances and mature on other stances but they are very active on forums and again a pretty decent person in game

I'm going to give this a -1 personally because I have recently seen some slightly immature posts on the forums that you have made although I do like you in-game so perhaps re-apply at a later date depending what the other head staff vote.

Pretty average all around.

You don't handle yourself very professionally on the forum's or in-game currently which is your biggest issue.
Feel like you'd fit in perfectly in another Month right now.

+1 Many of your posts are quite humorous, and you sound like you'd be a good, yet not overly strict, mod. Also you like clowns.

I am going to have to go with denied mainly because all of the immature and or 'humorous' comments you leave around both in game and on the forums. We at the moment need strict staff as we can not afford anyone who is not fit to be them in the slightest given our population growth over the times in addition with the amount of staff resigning

+1 from me.

Dunno why you even bothered. This application has been denied for now... Try again in about a month or so...
