Vivalas - Coder

Post by Vivalas » 20 Sep 2015, 17:00

Byond ID: Vivalas

Age: 15

Gender: Male

How would you define yourself? (Coder, Mapper, Spriter): Coder, I'm a competent mapper, but that's not my main interest, and not my main application.

If Coder, what languages? I would consider myself fluent in DM, I'm learning Java and Lua, but am not really that good with them, due to lack of practice or any real motivation to use them.

Any previous experience developing with SS13? About 3-4 years, play on BS12 a lot. EDIT: Derp, misread this.. read below

Proof of any previous or current work: http://www.mediafire.com/download/i2pcl ... p/Work.zip I sometimes do random bug fixes for baycode and a small feature (right now I PR'd a new uplink item, just a non-spectacular breifcase with money in it). Most of my work isn't with SS13 but I know my way around the source code and some other things. I've made a few small contributions to Europa Station, but the majority of my work is in that zip and it's BYOND related but not SS13. My biggest project which is the most impressive is on my hard drive on another computer so when I pull that off I'll link it up here too. I've also been working on my own recreation of the old BYOND game Lost Worlds, and while I haven't finished it, and most of the code is not mine, the repo is here: https://github.com/Vivalas/Rogue-Worlds

How well do you know Git? I can do basic things like merge PRs, rebase things, commit, push, update branches, etc.

Your primary job is server development, not policing the server. You may be given Moderator-level of access but you should *not* be invoking any administrative actions unless there are no moderators or Admins online. Do you understand? (Yes/No) Yes.

Anything else you'd like to add? I can map if needed and have good practice mapping, but that's not really what I tend to want to do.

Bump? Been about a week. I realized that two of them probably don't compile, but they both have working binaries that are up-to-date, the code is for demonstration purposes.

Also, here is my big project, my biggest one, http://www.mediafire.com/download/m0dx4 ... uild_9.zip Sojourn: pretty much spess exploration game in developement, kinda like SS13, but a lot more different too.

Apologies about the wait time, there is currently a lot of back-feed that the CM staff are having to deal with. Although I am not qualified to give an opinion here as coding is a grey area for me. Your application looks very well done, well formatted, and you seem very experienced.

I'm sure when everything is cleared that this application will be looked over. However, for now I ask that patience be expressed as some other applications are nearing 2 months old and still not looked over. Also, you may want to look into having yourself become more well known in the community via forum activity and play time.

That's fine, I just wanted to know if a staff member had seen my application. I have no problems with waiting.

Hi, sorry I haven't gotten to you sooner, as Vrai said, I am VERY busy, we lost a head staff member recently, and I'm picking up a LOT of slack from their job.

I kinda just lurk unless I find something interesting to reply to, was considering writing an MP guide.

But yeah, I played kinda hardcore for like two weeks and got burnt out, if you really want to deny this on the basis of inactivity I can accept that, I really want to help out with bugs/optimizations/features since I really have way too much free time.
