Tony Weather - Moderator Application.

Post by Tony Weather » 18 Feb 2016, 19:18

Byond ID: Tony Weather

Colonial Marines Character: Desmond Coldsmith

Age: 20

Gender: M

Timezone: EST

On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate? This is mostly based on what days I have classes alongside my work schedule. Though I tend to be around in the evenings so perhaps five hours or so a day, with longer times on the weekend.

Do you have a Skype account (Skype is REQUIRED)? Yes. (Will be provided if accepted.)

Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)? Depends, I've had my hand in leadership with other games in role play communities though I don't have much desire for power.

Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers? Yes. I've been around since the Pre-Alpha days and have played on and off as the game mode was worked on.

Have you had an application to Colonial Marines before? No.

Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where? No.

Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines? No, Haven't had many issues with staff to have this occur.

Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each situation (BELOW) the situation. If you start it on the same line, I'll assume you can't follow directions and auto-decline your application.

1. A player is firing his weapon in the briefing area near the start of the round.

If he isn't harming other players, I might just drop a warning for him to calm down. Though truly this could be handled by Military police.

2. The Sulaco has a breach to space.
1. Plug said breach through any means possible and have atmospherics restored.
2. Find said culprit of breach and identify the nature of the incident. (Accident, or on purpose.)
3. Administer proper punishment.

3. The marines want the nuke codes because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who.

I would have to deny his request and state that we could instead perform a bio scan to give them the hint that they are technically winning.

4. A Sulaco researcher has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online.

There are logs for a reason. And Napalm grenades are not permitted on the server and the researcher and the marine responsible would have to be contacted to discover their intents and handle subsequent punishment.

5. A played is starting to talk about the things he did with your mom last night over Ahelp.

I would warn him to stop or face the consequences as this not the proper use of Ahelp

6. You notice a marine with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules.

6a. The marine is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, noone has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.

Best way to defuse this is to simply tell him that while that may be the case it still needs to be done to adhere to the rules set forth by the server he is playing on.

7. You see a Sulaco Doctor with an M41A rifle strapped to his back running around the briefing area. There are wounded in medbay, and the other doctor is in surgery.

I would ask him to put the rifle down and return to his work station as his services will no doubt be needed. On that note Doctors are only allowed to carry a colt 45 with 2 magazines, though they may use a rifle if they are directly in danger.

8. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.

While this may or may not be true, Squad medics are suppose to stabilize patients to ensure they reach proper medical care, performing surgery is beyond their skill level as field medics. (Surgery must be conducted by a Doctor)

9. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the Sulaco, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?

I would contact command asking for a status report and offer them a Bio scan to give them the encouragement they need to finish the game.

10. The round ends, and a marine starts unloading his weapons on other marines.

This is end round griefing and would be punished as such.

11. A marine who has recently awoken is using soap to slip other marines.

While this is certainly a.. dick move to perform at best I would ask him calm down.

12. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.

I would have to punish the marine, quite frankly one punch does not mean you should gun down one of your fellows. (Unless said marine was actually trying to punch him to death. AKA they got in a fight over something and they willingly went lethal on each other.)

Any additional information you'd like to add? No. Not really.

Hm.. I had presumed that was a example of a typical player response to six and the actual question.

His answer to question 6a implies that he would have had to know the answer to question 6, so I suppose it's not the worst mistake to make.

You're definitely someone I've seen a lot in game.

Neutral, leaning towards a +1.

Eh. I'm going to go ahead and withdraw this application. Things are getting a bit busy on the home front with Exams coming up.
