James Beel Moderator Application

Post by James Beel » 27 Mar 2016, 06:57

Byond ID: James_Bell

Colonial Marines Character: James Beel

Age: 16 DOB: 16/03/1999

Gender: Male

Timezone: GMT

On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate? 3+ hours everyday

Do you have a Skype account (Skype is REQUIRED)? Yes my username is Ultimatebellsy

Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)? Yes I have had a lot of experience being mods/admins on many different game servers. I was an admin on a really big Arma 3 life community and was also a moderator on Gmod DarkRP server called FriendlyPlayers.

Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers? No

What other servers do you play on? Yogstation, LLJK5 and Infinity - RUS

What are the 3 biggest servers you play on besides CM? Yogstation, Tau Ceti and Infinity

Have you had an application to Colonial Marines before? No but I have made many applications on different servers before.

Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where? No

Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines? No

Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on ANY server? If so, where and When (roughly)? I was banned on Yogstation for 24 hours for failRP

Waht

Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each situation (BELOW) the situation. If you start it on the same line, I'll assume you can't follow directions and auto-decline your application.

1. A player is firing his weapon in the briefing area near the start of the round.
I would freeze the player so he couldn't do anymore of these actions and sort the situation out once he has been frozen

2. The Sulaco has a breach to space.
I would only deal with this if it was a player griefing in some sort of way. For example if he purposely threw a grenade just to breach the ship. Breaches aren't allowed at any point in the round.

3. The marines want the nuke codes because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who.
I would tell them that they have to keep fighting will the end even if they are being overrun. If they go down to 1 marine I would get other admins opinions and then come to a final decision

4. A Sulaco researcher has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online.
I would freeze him and ask why he did this certain action. I will also warn other players not to enter the logistics. If he has no reason there will be a ban issued. Also the napalm grenades are in the process of being removed and you are not allowed to use them.

5. A played is starting to talk about the things he did with your mom last night over Ahelp.
I would simply mute him for a certain amount of time for disrespect to staff which is against server rules or, I will give a increased punishment.

6. You notice a marine with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules.
I would tell him to reconnect and change his name in the character setup or, simply change it myself at the end of the round.

6a. The marine is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, noone has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
I would still tell him to change it and also tell him he should read the rules over again.

7. You see a Sulaco Doctor with an M41A rifle strapped to his back running around the briefing area. There are wounded in medbay, and the other doctor is in surgery.
I would tell him to remove the rifle and tell him to go and treat the wounded players, unless the Ship has been overrun by aliens.

8. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
I would give the medic assistance but make sure it didn't interfere with any of the roleplay going on.

9. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the Sulaco, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
Tell them that they have to go and fight in an encouraging way. I could also roleplay and say like 'It is for the fate of our beloved ones at home'

10. The round ends, and a marine starts unloading his weapons on other marines.
Freeze the player and tell him that it is a major offence and would kick or ban him immediately.

11. A marine who has recently awoken is using soap to slip other marines.
I would first ask the other marines if they are not bothered about this situation and ask them if they want him stopped or not. I would also treat this as a Neglect of duty while playing as a marine.

12. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
I would ask the dead marine if he wants to take the situation further as there is no point the other marine should go to that level of violence over a punch.

Any additional information you'd like to add?
I have a lot of experience and it would be an honor to be able to help out this great community.
Thanks for reading
James.

Answers seem mostly okay, besides these two;

I would tell him to remove the rifle and tell him to go and treat the wounded players, unless the Ship has been overrun by aliens.
Even if sulaco is overrun a doctor can only pick up a rifle when in immediate life threatening danger.

Squad medics can't perform surgery at all.

Considering I've never seen you ingame before and your forum account was made today, it feels like you're just applying to random servers in order to get an admin position and that you don't really care about CM in particular.

Thanks for the input but your last comment, I do not just apply on different servers just to get a position. I may have only joined today but I really want to help out the community. Other than that your opinion has been took in.

Why help a community you know nothing about or even have seen what happens. Knowing the players and the people of the server is really important to being staff in my opinion. If you spent more time getting to know people and forging relationships and experiences in game, I feel you could be accepted.

But until then, i'm giving it my -1.

Get somewhere around 70 hours on the server. 5 hours is like, 1 maybe 2 rounds at most.

Going to have to go Neutral on this App. While I have seen your online today, however I feel the lack of the playtime and experience is somewhat off putting. I'd suggest like the Others play more and then try again in about a month's time. - Free

I've recently been putting in activity to try my hardest to cover for some of the dead shifts that have been around and to be honest, having a guy that's only on for one round at a time isn't someone who can be relied on to begin with, regardless of app content.

No idea who you are and you've played 5 rounds. You have no idea how the server operates gameplay wise, let alone how to enforce rules.

Well you see that's hwy you're wrong. Don't make judgments on people you haven't saw in game even though I am on during most of the day. And I do know how the server works infact.

Also I have played 7 rounds now. You can learn a lot within about 10 hours.

Mate I would just let it go. Wait till you have played for maybe a month at least, get your name out there, if the community doesn't know your name, no one will give you their support because they don't know how you will act.

Yeah, but you don't even qualify against someone who's been around since the New Eden split, or even when the Alpha came out. They'll know more than you. Give it a few months, then you'll understand. You may see some things in a days worth of rounds, but it won't compare to what someone else has seen over their 4 months on the server, or longer than that.

75% of the aHelps are in-game related questions, while the remaining 25% is rule enforcement stuff. Just play one month and apply again. If you would be accepted for trial right now, you would face many embarrassing situations where the aHelpers would successfully question your knowledge and believability. So yeah, just knowing generally what the game is about is just not enough. It is more about small things here and there you have to learn.

Better for your own trial-mod experience if you have gathered some knowledge first.

But if you still want to push this application relentlessly through... I will go with +-neutral for now.
