Bloc97's Coder/Mapper Application

Post by bloc97 » 11 Jul 2016, 23:00

Byond ID:
Bloc97

Age:
19

Gender:
Male

How would you define yourself? (Coder, Mapper, Spriter):
I would like to Code and Map for CM.

I code in my free time, usually making small projects. I mostly use modding as my main time-killer, but I've made some small unfinished games with different engines (Unity, GameMaker, RPGMaker, etc.)
I study in Computer Science/Physics in university, so I am pretty confident that I can code to some extent, and I am still improving myself. I've had mapping experience in other engines, but not in BYOND.

If Coder, what languages?
I use Java and Lua extensively.
I know C#, Ruby, Erlang and DM in some extent.
I have touched some PHP, JS, but I am not confident enough yet.

Any previous experience developing with SS13?
Made some tests in hosting SS13, analysed the code, made small modifications, but nothing too fancy.

Proof of any previous or current work:
A lot of my previous works got lost through time, but I've hosted many gameservers in the past. ROBLOX, Minecraft, with custom plugins.
But my recent work can be found on GitHub, where I have multiple mods for games such as Factorio and RimWorld. All of those projects are just practice for me, especially to improve my OOP.

My biggest project that I can show without starting to upload anything is this factorio mod:
https://github.com/bloc97/Factorio_Vani ... laEx_0.0.9

My other random stuff is located there:

I can show you guys more stuff if you ask, but I probably lost the source code and would only find compiled binaries...

How well do you know Git?
I use git.

Your primary job is server development, not policing the server. You may be given Moderator-level of access but you should *not* be invoking any administrative actions unless there are no moderators or Admins online. Do you understand? (Yes/No)
Yes, I fully understand that I should not be moderating other players, and leave that to Moderators/Admins unless there are none online.

Anything else you'd like to add?
I hope that I am as useful to the CM community as you guys are to me. CM is a great server, with some great ideas put into it and I wish to help out, add more features, add new maps (or gamemodes), and hopefully optimize the code, since the server experiences a lot of lag spikes during heavy fighting.
This would also be a great learning experience for me, as I would get to know even better the DM/BYOND engine. Maybe some day I would participate in a SS13 remake.

I will stop my application here since it is too long already, if you have anything to ask about me or my ideas, I will gladly respond.

If you guys feel that I might not be competent enough (due to my lack of experience in DM), I will certainly improve myself and reapply in the future.

Good application! Your experienced with code and i think we need more coders as some have left.
+1 from me!
The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. [ding] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, start.

Thanks, not trying to be mean, but I don't think that non-devs are supposed to reply to applications...

However it does seems odd that no one replies to my application... Weird huh.

Don't worry, we're aware of your application. It just usually takes a while for us to go over t and decide.
