Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each of the following situations. Do not write on the same line as the situation - use the space below it or make space as needed. Failure to do this proves your inability to follow instructions and your application will be automatically denied.
1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
Since MPs have already taken care of him, I would first check the logs to try to find out if it was an accident or if it was really griefing and then I would check their notes to see if the player already had any related notes. After that, if still needed, I would PM the player and ask him to explain what he did. So if he says it was an accident, I'd leave it to be taken care of by IC's MPs, but if it was really griefing, I'd ban him according to the severity of the act and according to his ban history. Ranging from 3 hours to a permaban request.
2. The ship has a breach to space and a bunch of players have died or are dying as a result.
I would first check what caused the breach. If a bug caused it, I would use the verb to fix breachs and then I would contact a developer through slack to see if anything else needs to be done. If by chance it was the dropship that caused the breach, I would not do anything because it's supposed to happen that way. And if it was a griefer who breached I would first PM him and ask them to explain their actions. And then it would check the logs, notes and ban it according to history.
3. You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost.
I would contact a mentor to give him some help, if we don't have any online and i'm busy, i'd ask for mentor assistance on slack.
4. A player is being very rude to you in Adminhelps and requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
If he is still being rude, I would first ask him to calm down and try to explain what happened so I could determine if it would really be necessary to contact an admin to solve the problem. And if by chance he continue to be rude i'd mute or ban him and apply a note.
5. You notice a player with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules. The player is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, no one has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
I would tell him that as much as he has used the name for quite some time and no one has noticed does not change the fact that it is a name that does not follow the naming rule. Then I would apply a note and ask him to change the name until the next round. If by chance he still has the same name in another round, I would apply a three hours ban.
6. You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green with no threat present.
I would do nothing because it should be taken care of by the MP's as they're breaking marine laws, and not the rules.
7. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
The skill system will not let them perform the surgery, but if they can still do it, I would PM them telling that they are not supposed to perform surgery as a combat medic as it is against the rules. So I'd ask them to cauterize the patient, then I'd apply a note or a jobban if he's a repeat offender
8. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
I'd make a queen mother report, telling the xenos and the queen to attack.
9. The round ends, a MARINE starts shooting a hostile IRON BEAR and the IRON BEAR Adminhelps complaining he was killed after the round ended.
I would tell the iron bear that he can be killed by marines, even if the round is over. Because according to the rules, marines shooting aliens or hostile ERT's after the round end is legitimate.
10. A marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start.
I'd leave it to be handled by the MP's. But if he's doing it too much in numerous rounds, i would tell them to stop that.
11. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
I would tell him that even if the other player has hit him, he should not kill them because then they would be breaking the proper escalation rules. So I would check the logs to confirm what happened, contact the victim and check the notes of both involved in the fight. After that, if what happened was what the player said, I'd apply a ban depending if he's a repeat offender. Varying according to how many times he has already broken the rule.
12. An issue arises that requires Admin+ abilities.
If i can't really solve it, i would ask for admin assistance on mhelp or slack.
13. There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
I would tell the player that in character racism is allowed if he's actually RPing it, and not doing it only to insult another player.
14. A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
Jump to where the shooter was, then i would sleep them, check the logs to see who was actually shot, then i'd ban the marine who shot for seven days and fill a permaban request.
15. You see a player playing a xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines and die.
I would jobban the player from the xeno role.
16. You see a xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat.
A note would be applied for the first offence and the player warned that he's not allowed to say that as a xeno. For the second offence, a three hours ban would be applied.
17. A xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different xeno player complains to you that it's metagaming/failRP to call it a "dropship".
That's ok. The xeno player can call it that way, since "the hivemind is the english translation of a Xeno's thoughts".
18. A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet.
If the aliens that the commander refers to were the local wildlife, it's fine. But if he was referring to xenomorphs then it is not allowed because it is metagame. I would look at his notes and warn him that they do not know what hostiles they are going to face on the planet. If he's a repeat offender, I'd apply a command jobban.
19. A Marine kills another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself.
If they had no other options and it was really the only way to survive, i'd say that it's fine.
20. You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforcing a rule.
I'd tell the staff member through msay that he gave the wrong information, since it would be unprofessional to correct in the ahelp.
20a. You see a fellow staff member abusing his powers in-game.
First of all, i would need evidence of said abuse. If the staff member is really abusing his powers, i'd report it to their senior through slack.
21. You see a player talking in OOC chat about what he did with your mom last night.
I would just ignore the player.

Here is my take on your application. Keep in mind due to your status as a Mentor this will be more scrutinizing than an average application.
For the record, I have seen Vitor in-game as a Mentor and have liked his performance in-game. For the purposes of the application however I will not give a full +1 until I see the feedback to my concerns. As mentioned, due to his existing status as a mentor this critique is brief as I'll be going to sleep soon, but more harsh compared to an average application.
At current one of my biggest peeves with this application is the lack of specification for ban times throughout. Specifying as many as you can is a good way to give us a measure of how you grade your responses when situations come up.

Orange = Not quite satisfying

Straight to the situations. If I don't respond, you answered correctly.
2. Personally, I would fix the breach regardless since xeno players can powergame by using the void/cold to their advantage. This would lead to an unfair advantage and/or xenos delaying the round.
8. As Jamie said, there's many other tools you can use. Please clarify.
14. Again, as Jamie said. Don't jump straight to a 7 day ban and filing for perma.
15. Too excessive. Needs investigating and questioning.
18. Good, marines including the commander have no knowledge of aliens before the mission.

6. Yes, if he goes to the planet without permission from the head of the department and the commander he will be subject to a jobban.
7. Yeah, i meant to say that.
8. There are a few available options, USCMC High Command reports telling the marines that they have to finish their mission giving them a RP reason or PMing the commander asking them to deploy the marines to don't delay the round.
14. They could come back, so to prevent any further damages to the round, sleeping could be useful. Alright.
15. That's a good point. I would actually PM them first asking them to explain why they did that, then if the player had intent to kill himself i would apply the jobban, and if they're new i would call a mentor to help them.
18. Alright.
19. If he really had no other means of saving himself without killing that player to get his place in the pod I would say it is acceptable if there was RP. Even so, I would check the logs and i'd PM the victim and the killer asking them to confirm their history and also check his notes to see if he does not have a bad history or any related incidents. So, if the player didn't have enough legit reasons to kill the other player, i'd apply a note and a three hours ban if it's his first offence.

I would prefer to subtle message the commander rather than PM Them directly in order to try and keep the integrity of the round intact. That single minor issue aside everything else looks fine to me as per the reply to jamie's questions, I for one think you've got good potential to be a hammer and we can always use more mentorly able moderators. +1 From me!

Overall decently researched application- some elaboration regarding ban times to showcase an understanding of escalating bans would be good.
Only question I have to be nit picky 2. If it was a griefer- when would you fix the breach (just asking because you failed to mention it in the last example)

Vitor has always been a great and effective mentor. Initially, the answers he provided in his application were satisfactory but there were missing details and elaborations.
