1.On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?
I get really random hours and days for my work so i would say around 15 to 30 would be a good estimate.

2.Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?
I do not.

3.Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
I thought this was first one but i have been playing for awhile not sure how long.

What are the 3 biggest servers you play on besides CM?
Just paradise.

Nope this is my first time applying for staff ever in ss13.

Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines?
i was banned once for EORG but other than that nothing.

Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on ANY server? If so, which server, when, and what for?
I was perma banned on paradise for just being an over all shitter before i started playing CM alot but after
joining this server i realized how much of an impact being a shitter makes.

Are you familiar with the chat program Slack (its use is required)?
I kind of know what it is but i have never used it although it doesn't seem too hard to pick up.

Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each of the following situations. Do not write on the same line as the situation - use the space below it or make space as needed. Failure to do this proves your inability to follow instructions and your application will be automatically denied.

1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
I would PM the shooter and ask whats going on and deliver justice accordingly probably with a warning and a mark on his notes. I would also talk to the victim and get their side of the story and heal them if need be.

2. The ship has a breach to space and a bunch of players have died or are dying as a result.
I would attempt to fix the breach and fix the air issue along with trying to calm the players who were affected VIA ooc to try and keep salt to a minimum.


3. You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost.
I have seen those players before and have tried to help them so i would try and help them again if i wasn't busy and if i was i would ask a mentor to help the poor fellow out.

4. A player is being very rude to you in Adminhelps and requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
Well if i am correct you can contact other staff using SLACK so if i couldn't handle hooligan after trying to be reasonable and deal with the problem myself i would use SLACK if no admins were on or use Mchat.

5. You notice a player with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules. The player is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, no one has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
I'm sure we could just talk it out and help person realize just because you haven't been caught doesn't mean its not against the rules. Along with the fact that ignorance is no excuse for rule breaking but if the name seems like it may have just become relevant to the rule it still needs to be changed and hopefully we could avoid putting a note down unless they have had several other notes on it then a name change will need to be enforced.

6. You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green with no threat present.
Ah yes i would rather deal with this IC but he didnt respond then i would PM them and ask them why they are acting in such a low RP manner and add a note and a warning and hopefully send them on their way without further issues.

7. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
I would PM them and inform them that their job is to stabilize people who need surgery and not do the surgery even if its their best bud them taking their time with that surgery could cost plenty more lives. However i believe medics can no longer perform surgery.

8. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
Well i would need to find a way to encourage one side to do something with out interfering too much. So I would perhaps ask an admin to use queen mother or high command to motivate the troops to attack or do it if i could.

9. The round ends, a MARINE starts shooting a hostile IRON BEAR and the IRON BEAR Adminhelps complaining he was killed after the round ended.
I realize how this could be upsetting but it is fair game so i would talk to the iron bear while trying to calm them down and tell them that its not against the rules for marines and iron bears to fight after round end due to them being in game enemies.

10. A marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start.
I may wait a moment to see if he stops his behavior and let the MPs deal with it although if he starts stealing special gear i would intervene and message them about the incident and add a note for it.


11. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
This would require me to talk to both player and i would give the offender a three hour ban to let them cool down along with a note for improper escalation and murdering the other marine.

12. An issue arises that requires Admin+ abilities.
Well i would make sure it requires Admin+ abilities then get an admin or above via Mchat or SLACK and describe the issue(s).


13. There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
This will always be a touchy subject where both side probably wont be happy but i would tell the marines making jokes to lighten up a bit.

14. A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
Well if i couldn't get a hold of them by some other means like the forums then i would give them a 24 hour ban and the reason i wouldn't give them a 3 hour is because maybe something happened and they need a while to cool off or they might realize griefing isn't the best thing to do some time in that 24 hours and i would of course add a note about it.


15. You see a player playing a xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines and die.
I'd message them to see why they just committed suicide and give them a warning if they didn't do it to just waste an xeno and if done again i would give them a note and possibly a xeno job ban.

16. You see a xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat.
i would notify the xenos that despite xenos being more relaxed than the opposing side they still have roll play standards and low RP will be punished .

17. A xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different xeno player complains to you that it's metagaming/failRP to call it a "dropship".
i would let it slide honestly. However if the player kept up their low RP i would give them a note and a warning And then a job ban if they kept it up even after the warning.

18. A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet.
I would speak to the command staff member about meta gaming if they mentioned xenos in specific and give them a note for it.

19. A Marine kills another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself.
While this isn't against the rules i would advise them that it is generally something that causes alot of salt and that they should try and negotiate perhaps if they have the time.

20. You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforcing a rule.
I would ask them if it was an accident and if they persisted to argue i would bring it up with the head if we couldn't resolve it ourselves.

20a. You see a fellow staff member abusing his powers in-game.
I would ask them why and report to the head of whatever rank they are in the chain of staff.


21. You see a player talking in OOC chat about what he did with your mom last night.
I would tell them that general OOC disrespect is not allowed and that my mother is an adult she can do what she wants.


Any additional information you'd like to add?
Well ive been playing on here for awhile i know the rules and what should be expected of staff. I did go through a patch of being an ass hole and a bad player before i started playing on this server frequently so if you contact paradise you will probably get a big list of my notes but i learned a lot since then and my behavior here shows it for sure also this was my first app like i said so dont roast me too hard but dont hold back on the important parts.

3. You should always add a note when talking about a name change issue.

6. It would be better to SM an MP about it. We only really need to involve ourselves if the MT is fighting on the front lines.

8. Since mods can't use those, it's best to SM the CO or the queen.

10. This is actually a pretty recent crackdown we're doing so it's not you're fault for not knowing, but you should go ahead and give a warning to anyone doing disarm spam.

14. You don't need to contact them through the forums for this. The ban would usually be harsher as well. Anywhere between 3-7 days.

17. This isn't low RP. Xenos can translate words to regular English if they like. Calling it a dropship is fine.

20a. Don't bother asking why. Report it straight to their senior and they can explain themselves to the senior. Asking why would possibly just lead to a fight.

Overall, it's a fairly decent application. You're rough around the edges, but trainable. You're biggest problem that a lot of people miss is not checking any notes before PMing people, so you have to make sure you're checking the notes every time. I'll go ahead and +1 this though. I think you'll do okay in trial.

Hello Gerald888,

There is a severe lack of punctuation in your application. Communication is important for a moderator, are you sure you'll be comfortable with explaining complex concepts or rules over PMs to people who's first language definitly isn't English?

In 2, how would you "keep salt to a minimum"?

How would you deal with the following adminhelp?
ADMINHELP: John Jhonny: "The CMP Mark Marky brigged me for giving keloderm to medics, I'm not the one who did it, it was the other doctor. Also he full stripped me and put me in the orange suit when my timer is only 15 mins"

yeah i realized that. I do however know i can still communicate with people who's first language isn't English.

As for number 2 i planned on informing the players that the breach is being handled but you can only do so much talking when it comes to lowering salt.

So for the admin help. Well addressing the names in the rule about names it says you must have a unique first and last name which i assume means no "Mark Marky", So that would need to be addressed after this ahelp. Well the full strip and jumpsuit change isn't needed when they are being held for less than 30 minutes so i would remind the CMP of this, As for the doctor claiming it was the other doctor i would question said doctor about it and attempt to get the issue resolved.

Oh and thanks for the leaning+1 even if i don't get it i still enjoy the support.

Pretty much what Slc said. The answers are solid, the procedure needs to be nailed down somewhat, but that's what trial is for.

I'd like you to rephrase you answer to 15. though. How would you determine wether what they did was intentional or not and what would you do if you determined it was not?

Well Sir Lordington I would check their notes for previous suicides for no reason especially ones on the xeno side and if i found none i would ask them if they knew where they were going, Perhaps they didn't know where the front line was and got caught up in the fight. If i determined it was not intentional i would message them and tell them they need to be more careful and communicate with the hive to figure out where not to go and see if the queen wants larva to stay in the nest.

I think overall you show a decent enough understanding of the rules, but you could look a bit more into the situation of 19. It's one of the few cases where you can justify a marine shooting another to death, but it requires some for of role play and in character reason to actually do so which you should be checking. Beyond that you should probably work on your grammer, your punctuation and such, as it's important that someone understand you when you tell them what you're doing wrong. I think I'll give your application my +1, you seem like you'll be able to learn everything you need to.
