Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each of the following situations. Do not write on the same line as the situation - use the space below it or make space as needed. Failure to do this proves your inability to follow instructions and your application will be automatically denied.
1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
Check on the player asking him what went down between the two of them. At the same time pming the other player to explain himself over the situation. It's likely to have been a improper escalation (Fist-object-guns) but it happened out of nowhere causing me to step in the scene. I'll check the logs to see if one or the other had similar experience to this to see about what punishment I will give out to the player. If he had more than one incident then it's going to be ban.Otherwise i'll let the MP's handle the player and check the other players log also just to be sure he didn't instigate the situation. If there isn't anything related to the issue via the notes then i'll declare it handled.
2. The ship has a breach to space and a bunch of players have died or are dying as a result.
I will gladly seal up the breach talk over OOC checking on who needs to be healed due to the recent space damage that killed some of the players and try to play it out as RP. Possibly saying "faulty construction" over ARES and popping in a random song while I am fixing the breach to lighten the mood.
3. You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost.
I assume he is likely new to the game. Pop in via looc checking he if he is new to game and answer any questions he has about Colonial Marines. I'll post some links to the rules,guides and ask if he needs any more help to what he is suppose to be doing so he can have a clear way of knowing what to do in any marine roles.
4. A player is being very rude to you in Adminhelps and requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member
Cool the player down best I can. He may not be cooperative at all so I will stay professional and remind him to stay clam so we could talk about the issue he was currently having. If the player continue to be disrespectful then im going to ban him writing down a note regarding that incident. If the player stayed calm then we address the issue he was having accordingly with no extra being needed.
5. You notice a player with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules. The player is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, no one has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
The player is still breaching the naming rule and ask him to read over the rules again. It's understandable if he didn't understand the rules but next time I would tell him to read over EACH rule carefully so he doesn't get into deeper trouble next time around. Write down a note regarding the incident and consider the issue handled
6. You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green with no threat present.
Just to be on the safe side I'll check the players note to see if he has any history of griefing on the server. If he does have any notes of griefing, I'll pm him asking him what is he doing being in combat gear then proceed to tell him to return it to the nearest MP or take it to cargo to give to the RO. Should there be no notes of him griefing i'll consider the issue as IC and let the mp's handle it accordingly.
7. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
This is kinda outdated but it's obvious I caught the player red handed attempting to powergame. I'll tell the player to put the player in a stasis bag and request for a doctor to ready a OR room for the wounded marines via the alamo or the medevac. I'll warn the player not to attempt doing anything outside of what his character should know cause that would be breaking the medium RP. Write a note regarding this issue.
8. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
Giving both sides messages from high command can usually get the round moving in a better pace can be a good place to start. The aliens I would tell them to pick off lone marines to increase their numbers for it to swell again and the marines I would make a message giving a good speech about finishing up the job so they could go home and drink beer.
9. The round ends, a MARINE starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member Adminhelps complaining he was killed after the round ended.
It is considered a IC issue but I would tell the CLF member he is a hostile faction according to the lore of the game so theres no further investigation needed for this situation. If the player continues being "salty" about it i'll tell him let it go cause it's the end of the round anyway.
10. A marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start.
The player is being a bit of a asshat, it's likely he has a history of being one too. So I would pull up his notes and check if he has any. If there is multiple notes of him being one I will place a ban on him and place a perm ban underway. Otherwise, i'll pm him telling him to knock it off.
11. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
It's plainly improper escalation but i'll investigate more into it first before I make any final judgements about it to see how firm of my punishment should be on him.First thing will be for me to check both of their notes to ensure about them having history of griefing. Should both sides have clean notes then i'll give the marine who killed the other marine a 3 hour ban due to him provoking a improper escalation telling him not to do it again. The other marine though I may aheal due to the matters getting out of hand.
12. An issue arises that requires Admin+ abilities.
Make sure everyone don't lose their mind in game and hop on slack for a admin to come on. In the meantime i'll make sure everyone doesn't get salty and ask another staff for help to keep everyone calm while me and the other staff keep things ok until the admin comes on.
13. There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
The player is probably salty about this but i'll calmly tell him it is a military rp server so the marines are usually rowdy like this. But i'll check to see what the players were saying to ensure they didn't get out of hand with the racialy comments
14. A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
The player is a getting a ban, 7 day ban infact. It seems intentional to me he was doing it to ruin the round. So after I ban the player I'll follow up by checking his logs to see if he had similar behavior.It's likely hes had negative notes similar to this before so i'll start a process to file a perma ban request on him.
15. You see a player playing a xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines and die.
Pm the player asking him to explain why did he do that while pulling up his notes for any similar behavior hes done before this incident. Should his notes shown to have done something similar before hes getting banned for 180 minutes (3 hours I believe) due to the rule breach of trying to be a combat larva. Otherwise if it is clean i'll tell him not to do it again writing a note of this experience.
16. You see a xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat.
The xeno player is being too excessive meming. I'll pm the player telling him to cool down being a memelord on hivemind and inquire if he read the xeno rules. if or if he didn't i'll tell him to read up on it so he understands what and what not to do as a xeno player next time.
17. A xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different xeno player complains to you that it's metagaming/failRP to call it a "dropship".
The xenos can call the dropship a dropship. It's better for rp scenarios to call it something different in order to enhance the experiences for the players. I could tell the concerned xeno he pronounced "bird" cause thats what the dropship is similar to in order to get more rp going on.
18. A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet.
Pm the command player telling them to correct their mistake as marines have no KNOWLEDGE at all about the xenos being on the planet, only thing command could possibly know is there is surviors of a attack. it's likely the command player did not read into the server rules before hand so i'll remind them to read over the rules again as to what the marines should know before first encounter with the xenos.
19. A Marine kills another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself.
Shitty thing for the marine to do. But IC wise, it is something someone who wanted to save their ass would do out of a dire situation. Concluding it was on the EVAC pod then it mean it was a do or die moment. I'll consider to let him go spite of this.
20. You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforcing a rule.
After the staff member gets done talking to the certain player in hand or situation. I'll go on slack and correct him of his mistake of a rule he gave out and give him better information regarding it. Afterwards, I'll make sure any players who was given the information gets corrected about it.
20a. You see a fellow staff member abusing his powers in-game.
Should I witness this the first thing i'll do tell the staff member to stop he might continue abusing his powers anyway so I'll make sure to put timestamps on anything he has done during his admin abusing and get any evidence possible to remove him from being a staff member then I will ban the admin and get in touch with the managers in order to make sure they are aware of the situation. I'll try to mop up the mess afterwards during the round and attempt to make sure players affected by this get aheal and to tell them to come forward if they were affected by his abusing powers in the fourm report.
21. You see a player talking in OOC chat about what he did with your mom last night.
It's likely just a causal joke the character is doing, i'll laugh along with the kid and make sure to keep the conversation light hearted to be sure there isn't any personal feelings done out of spite. Although should the player get out of hand and insults people i'll step in immediantly to put a stop to it to prevent any possible griefing next round.

I usually just run over the last few questions and won't dive into the bulk of your answers.
20. You can just tell them on the server as it happens, you don't need to wait till after they've given out the wrong information or enforcement.
20a. Gonna be blunt, but this is a terrible answer. To start, you normally don't want to tell a fellow staff "Quit abusing your power" as that's not going to achieve any productive outcome. "Get any evidence to remove him from staff" sounds like you're trying to get the staff removed, which abuse or not you shouldn't be trying to get anyone removed. Saying you're going to ban a fellow staff should never be something you do for any reason at all. It's not your job to decide what punishments happen to your fellow staff and, especially, you're not the one who actually makes the call on, "This is abuse and I'm going to remove this person from the staff." Under these actions, what if you banned a fellow staff for something you thought was wrong, but they were actually doing nothing wrong at all? This answer throws off a vibe which makes it seem like you believe that you're just about in enact on whatever you believe, rather than going off the rules and protocols and this is only going to net you problems as a mod. Just to help clear it up, you should immediately bring this to the attention of the head staff and let them deal with this rather than jumping in yourself and trying to, "set things right."
Skimming over your other answers, they're not terrible but I'm not really blown away myself. Can't say I'm going to support your app, but there are still other staff you can try to convince. Good luck with your app and you can still get it accepted even without my direct support.

In addition to what Emerald said, there's a couple of procedure issues with the use of notes and the application of punishments. Some of your answers, like 16 and 18, are too superficial for my liking.

19. You didn't really explain at all how you would investigate the situation, the marine could have RPed it out or he could have just ran up and shot the fellow marine with no context.

For the first question, I wanted to contribute more to the server since im pretty much a old player at this point of the game. I seen many changes happen to the server over the years and I wanted to be apart of it more. If I didn't decide to do something for the server (be a codder, mapper, etc) soon enough i'll probably leave the community without leaving a small impact on the server. It's the challenge for me in CM. The xenos actually being a menacing and terrfying is something that makes a fight really tense. It feels refreshing and something thats REALLY missing in alot of games these days.
Thing I really dislike about the game though is that RO line honestly it's a killer for command and marines alike since it takes time for them to give the stuff out most of the time.

App overall looks good and I'm happy enough with it but to just test you I got a scenario.
An ahelp comes in by an obviously enough annoyed player claiming that someone intentionally shot them to death at the front-line. When you check the disgruntled players logs you see that the player did infact get shot three times in the back with a pulse rifle however before that they were slashed and spat on multiple times by xenomorphs. When you question the person who shot the disgruntled player in back they claim it was an accident and the player walked in front of them while they were trying to shoot nearby xenomorphs.
How would you handle this? And for reference you're a full mod in this scenario not a trial.

Only admins can use High command and Ares announcements. On 15 a xeno ban can be applied if they already have a note on being suicidal as a larva, since they're causing trouble as that role specifically. The same concept can be carried to other things like a doctor that just knocks people out for no reason or such. I'd want to see revised answers regarding 16, 18, 19, and if they had a day ban for similar things or such. Seems fine besides the issues explicitly brought up already.

I'll stop there as other issues were already brought up. Overall a decent enough app outside whats mentioned with 17+. You get my +1 at the very least since I feel you can learn in the trial-mod period. Just remember what emerald said.
