[Officialjake] - Moderator Application

On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?
25-30 hours per week. I usually spend about 3-5 hours a day on SS13.
Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?
I have in the past on a minecraft server, I started out as a moderator and after a couple years became a developer after learning Java programming.
Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
No.
Have you had an application to Colonial Marines or New Eden denied before?
No.
Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where?
No.
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines?
I have not been banned from Colonial Marines. (Nor New Eden)
If a player was shooting everyone in briefing at round start how would you deal with the situation?
It would depend on how the players react, if the players do not start RPing the situation out I would immediately teleport the offender out and revive everyone effected. Since it is the round start and a player was obviously attempted to grief, I don't think that those that used lethal force should be excluded from the rest of the round due to the actions of one trouble maker.
After the damage is repaired I would send the now isolated player a message to ascertain, why he committed the offense, and what he was trying to accomplish.
Unless he has an extremely good reason to start randomly open fire on marines in the briefing room I would issue a minimum day ban for a first time offense. If he has committed the offense before I would issue at least a week long ban. If he managed to do harm to the other players and the continuity of the round the first time punishment would be a minimum of at least 2-3 days.
If he has an incredible IC reason for what he did depending on the damage done I would allow the MP's to IC'ly handle it and write an admin note after having a talk with him/her.
You notice that a xeno is breaching the Nostromo and is unable to seal it with resin. How would you deal with this and what punishment would you give for a first offender?
I would contact them asking them why they are breaching the Nostromo and repair the damage. If they were breaching and caused damage to the continuity of the round I would issue the minimum 24 hour ban as per rule #9.
If they are new and simply made a mistake I would warn the player refering them to the rules and add a note as long as they did not cause a lot of damage to the round.
The marines want the nuke codes to detonate the Nostromo because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who. What do you do?
I would send them an IC announcement, telling them that their job is to recover the Nostromo not to destroy it. I would contact the commander and find out why he is requesting the nuke codes instead of doing his job.
This issue does not need an administrative response and should be dealt with IC'ly.
A Sulaco Medic has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online. What do you do?
I would find out what exactly is going on. Since this question is very vauge there are a lot of factors that come into play.
Is the Sulaco secure and free of xenos? Why did he throw a napalm grenade into logistics in the first place?
If there are aliens on the station and he is not griefing or causing harm then I would let it be that is an IC matter.
If there are no aliens on the station and the damage caused is negligible and can be handled by the MP's and the Sulaco can be repaired by the squad's engineers then it's an IC issue and at most I would add a note after warning the player.
If marines were killed as per the Lethal Force rule I would revive those killed that did not use lethal force in retaliation.
If he is griefing I would issue a minimum 12 hour ban and add a note. I would also revive those hurt by his malicious actions.
What would you do if a player started to talk about the things he did to your mom last night?
I would kindly remind the player of rule #8 and tell him/her to stop. If he continues I would mute the player from OOC, ahelp and Looc for 5-10 minutes. If the player still continues after that I would issue a short ban for an hour or two.
Any additional information you'd like to add?
I really enjoy the different atmosphere on Colonial Marines as it is a very different niche from typical SS13 servers and offers a unique environment to RP. I would like to help preserve a positive and fun environment on the server.

Dear god..... Its almost perfect... A lot of maturity shown just from the application you take it seriously and I like that you added rule numbers along with most of your punishments all being very reasonable in my eyes. You have my +1 for this for sure, It actually reminds me of my application way back... I think you would be a good addition to the staff.

Good spelling/grammar
This is the first time I've seen the wrong answer to the "your mom" question and at the same time be technically correct.

Thanks, I look forward to working with you all! Do the staff generally communicate over skype while in rounds or only if something comes up?SASoperative wrote:Approved. Wait for Apop to give you your trial. Good luck.
