On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?
If the clock in and clock out verbs don't screw me up, I should easily hit 20 hours per week, with a peak on weekends.
Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?
Oh, yeah. I've been a moderator in a SS13 server for some 72 hours.
Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
No.
Have you had an application to Colonial Marines or New Eden denied before?
No.
Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where?
No.
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines?
No.
If a player was shooting everyone in briefing at round start how would you deal with the situation?
Well, a similar situation has actually already happened to me. It was not in briefing room, but it involved a marine killing other marines.
I... Uh... This is the reason why I quit... I'll leave this one to the end.
The marines want the nuke codes to detonate the Nostromo because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who. What do you do?
I'd obviously deny it. Here's a line I quite like using:
"I am the manager of this solar system. My engineer just got me out of a very important meeting because of you, Mr. Schofield. Let me make something clear here: we pay you VERY well to do your job. We are NOT going to give you a green light to destroying a trillion-dollars-worth space station, so you better figure something else out."
A Sulaco Medic has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online. What do you do?
Holy fuck... These marines, I tell you... Well, investigate and then:
1) Is he a griefer? If so, add note and ban him. Punishment matches the damage he caused.
2) Was it a mistake? If so, check his notes for other "mistakes". If the damage wasn't that great, leave him off with a warning and a note. Big damage? Get the banhammer and reward him with a short (1-2 hours) ban
What would you do if a player started to talk about the things he did to your mom last night?
"Dude, that's creepy. She ain't even alive no more." I mean, uh...
"http://cm-ss13.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=1363 . You have five minutes to go to that link, read rule 8, and report back to me. Your next ahelp goddamn better be an apology merged with a very good explanation."
If he decides to be a smartass, give him a short ban (20 minutes~), and add a note. No fucking around on my shift.
Any additional information you'd like to add?
Yes. I can cook and cle... Well, I used to be a staff member like you, then I took an arrow in the knee I came upon this situation. You know the xeno breaching rule? Yeah. This one:
You notice that a xeno is breaching the Nostromo and is unable to seal it with resin. How would you deal with this and what punishment would you give for a first offender? [Warning: wall of text ahead]
Well, I saw a drone breaching prison (and not enclosing with walls/doors) on two spots. I quickly fixed a breach that was in my reach, and I PMed the drone about her second breach. She fixed it and told me she did not know about the breach rule. I went to the logs and searched for her Byond username: no results, that means she was really new to the server and gave support to her story [that she hadn't read the rules]."
Then I checked the rules. Notably this:
No Breaching - Breaching to space, for ANY REASON (unless, your an alien, and pre-seal the area with resin to prevent atmos loss) will result in a 24 hour (minimum) ban.
At that point I tried to convince myself to follow the rules and apply the 24h ban. I remember having it in my head: "rule's straightfoward. If you can't ban this one, you're no good as a moderator." But she had fucking apologized to me for the breach, and she said that it would not happen again. Fuck. In the end, I took me some five minutes to realize that I just couldn't ban her. Upon that realization, I just shut my computer off and went to bed. That night I listened to the voice that said "a decent mod would've followed the rules". And resigning was the first thing I did when I woke up the next day.
Now I'd like to undo it: I'm asking for a second chance as a moderator.
