Rovernic's - Moderator
Real Name (Optional): Ryan
Byond ID: Rovernic
Age:18
Timezone:Eastern Standard Time[GMT-5]
How many hours are you willing to put in daily to moderate? 3-5 most weekdays, weekends highly variable
Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?
I've been an administrator for several different games. I was an admin on for a minecraft server during the earlier days of the game, and held the position for several months. I lost interest once 1.0 came about, and dropped shortly after. I was an admin on one of the severs for Persistent World, a modification for Mount and Blade which once focused around roleplay. I do say once, because the community changed and the role-players gradually left leaving the server to die. I also briefly admined a small SS13 server that was mostly hosted for a group of friends. While I don't mean to count this as admin experience on the player interaction side, I do have experience on the technical side to some extent.
Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
Only on one of the much earlier ones, though it was so long ago that I can't quite remember who the host was. I have played for quite some time on the current iteration of Colonial Marines.
If a player was shooting everyone in briefing at round start how would you deal with the situation?
Why does this issue seem to happen every round?
Well, since moderators can't freeze there is not much physical intervention you can do. If the marines have stopped him already, if by killing him themselves or having the MP actually do their job and arrest him, I would talk to him and explain why he's being banned. Point him to the rules section of our forum. If he is civil, the sentence of the ban can be shorter, if not he can wait a long while to think about what he's done.
Oh in the event that the marines have not handled the situation by the time I was made aware, the conversation part of that response is rather void. Just a short, description on what rule was broken, and a link to it.
You notice that a warrior is breaching the Nostromo for no reason and is unable to seal the breach. How would you deal with this and what punishment would you give for a first offender?
Nuke the server. Delete everything. Resign my position. We tried boys.
No? Not the right solution? Damn...
Right, well as a moderator there is only such much you can do with regrades to the station hemorrhaging air like a crudely torn artery with blood. Dealing with that, so long as the warrior isn't breaking any OTHER rules, would be first. Asking the nearest player that is capable of sealing the breach would be a viable solution.
Void mentioned playing with variables, though to what extent moderates can affect these would definitely decide whether the problem could be fixed that way. Either way, players are generally pretty willing to help the administrative staff.
Now on to that warrior. Since its his first time, I'd start by talking with him. Before deciding whether he deserves a ban or not, I'd check the logs to see what exactly happened before the incident. If it was clearly malicious intent, a temp-ban would be issued and a note added. If it was completely on accident for whatever the hell could cause someone to breach a window accidentally, I'd warn him and add a note.
Additional information you'd like to add:
Since my last application was denied due to a lack of input, I would like to ask the staff to consider leaving a comment. Even one as simple as a -1 and the reason for such, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

M.O.T.H.E.R. Status Update
Warning.
Continued actions may result in loyalty chip activation, as well as the implementation of Politically Correct subsystems. We don't want that, now do we?
ADMIN LOG: Apophis775/(Erin Kowalski) has created a M.O.T.H.E.R. report

+1 from me.
Your app was well written, you provided a very reasonable outline of how you would deal with the breacher. would be happy to work with you, sir.

@Void
No mate, I mean that there really isn't time for a discussion with a rule breaker when he's actively killing half the crew.
