Colonial Marines Character:
Main: Robert 'Caddy' Timmins
Secondary (Corporate Liaison): Daniel Carmichael
Age:
16
Sex:
Male
Timezone:
Eastern Standard Time
On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?
Weekdays = 5 * 4
Weekends (mainly Saturday) = 9 * 1.5
Overall : +33.5 hours per week
[This will change if I become employed or begin volunteer work again.]
Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?
Some, not enough worth noting.
Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
No.
What other servers do you play on?
Aurora, Hippie, Paradise, Polaris, and 8chan/v/ server while it was up.
What are the 3 biggest servers you play on besides CM?
Aurora and Polaris are my main servers other than Colonial Marines.
Have you had an application to Colonial Marines before?
No.
Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where?
No.
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines?
No, not even banned in general.
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on ANY server? If so, where and When (roughly)?
Perma-ban from Paradise for attempted murder of the brig's physician. It was around two to three months ago but I got it straightened out I would have just gotten a day ban or so but I logged after no one answered my multiple ahelps concerning events that lead up to the attempted murder.
Are you familiar with the chat program Slack (its use is required)?
Yeah, I'm already in ours.
Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each situation (BELOW) the situation. If you start it on the same line, I'll assume you can't follow directions and auto-decline your application.
1. A player is firing his weapon in the briefing area near the start of the round.
(a) If it is a single discharge I'll assume it was a misclick. If they apologize IC I'll know for certain that it was that, if they remain silent I'll keep an eye on that player for continued discharges wherein I will PM them questioning whether they understand how to un-equip the rifle.
(b) If it is blatantly obvious that the weapons discharge was done in order to harm another player(s) without RP purposes and proper consent I will warn the offender of the consequences of griefing and deal out said punishment as well as a note.
(c)If it is Active shooter level discharging(IE: Griefer shooting) I will sleep the player in order to speak with them before giving them an appropriate ban as well as add a note.
2. The Sulaco has a breach to space.
Find out how it was caused (SM explosion, broken window, acid) and then patch the hole accordingly. If it is a persistent problem being caused by either a marine or alien PM them about it and dispatch a warning and note. If it continues apply ban for grief.
3. The marines want the nuke codes because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who.
Inform them of the odds as well as the fact that the use of the device in this situation would lead to the destruction of the Weyland Yutani compound, which is not acceptable.
4. A Sulaco researcher has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online.
PM the offender to get an understanding as to why they tossed the grenade into logistics. Depending on their response (IE: accident or intentional) plus any previous notes suggesting a pattern in behavior add note and warning. PM any witnesses or R&D personnel who were present to understand the situation from their perspective and clarify the event. If there are casualties caused by an intentional incident they should be healed, if it was not intentional I consider it an IC issue.
5. A player is starting to talk about the things he did with your mom last night over Ahelp.
Inform the player that further such use of the ahelp system will result in a ban for insulting staff as well as in accordance with rule 1: Don't be a dick.
[Edit: Wasn't sure if we could ahelp-mute players. That'd be preferable to a short ban.]
6. You notice a marine with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules.
PM them to change it next round.
6a. The marine is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, noone has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
Check notes for previous mentions, if none add one. Speak with fellow staff members concerning the name. Re-inform the marine that they will change their name and that it is not arguable.
7. You see a Sulaco Doctor with an M41A rifle strapped to his back running around the briefing area. There are wounded in medbay, and the other doctor is in surgery.
PM the doctor in order to find out if he's new to the game. If he is direct him to the wiki in order to learn his position as well as assist him until he can get a hand of his job. If it is clear that they are not going to be preforming their role PM them to either enter cryo or face the consequences of committing a role infraction, also add note.
8. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
Inform the Corpsman that it is not within his job abilities and dispense warning and note. If he continues a job-ban would be in order.
9. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the Sulaco, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
Give MOTHER report informing the marines of their advantage over the xenomorphs. If this does not work request that the administrators send Soviet Reinforcements to 'assist' the marines.
10. The round ends, and a marine starts unloading his weapons on other marines.
EoRG, immediate 3 hour ban as well as note.
11. A marine who has recently awoken is using soap to slip other marines.
IC issue unless said marine uses his soap slipping to assault downed marines.
12. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
Inform him of our rule on improper escalation, add note, depending on previously actions carried out by player dispense a ban for grief/improper escalation.
Any additional information you'd like to add?

+1 You're a fine mentor and I'm sure you'll be a fine mod. Like Cas said, you're a little heavy handed with some of your punishments, but it's nothing we can't work on in your trial. Hope to see you on the team.

+1 for the reasons stated above. A good mentor can be a good mod.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....
