Breaking the name rule from
Your Byond Key: Goon is Love Goon is Life
Your Character Name: Forgot the number, I was a xeno, not relevant here as it is OOC issue
Their Byond key: LocalizedDownpour:
Approximate time and date of the incident (Central Us Time for best results): 9:40 GMT is when I reported it again, since my last few A-helps where unanswered
Which Admin Protocols (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=5647) were broken: Not admin protocols, actual rules. That he didn't accept that it was a rule break is why I brought it here. I don't know if staff still just go in player report, best to be safe.
Description of the incident: I reported a player with the name Reina 'Senpai' Sanada, I reported them as they broke the naming rule, as their name is a 'title' but is used in multiple anime shows, and multiple games. It is also quite a popular internet trend, as if someone was called Harambe or something, senpai is the Harambe of the anime world. One of the biggest games it is used in is 'Yandere simulator' where the antagonist always refers to the boy she is stalking as senpai. Nothing else, from my knowledge.
Internet crazes, with things like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oq7B44odQ00
Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc):
How you would punish the accused: No idea, they broke a rule, reprimand them for it and change their name, or make them change it.

Are you talking about the Senpai part? Because that's actually an interesting thing I don't think we've addressed before. Specifically, restrictions on Nicknames.

Re: Breaking the name rule from
Yup, the actual name is fine, no problems there, just the nickname part. Senpai isn't really related to anything 'in game' and, English only server, is Japanese

Re: Breaking the name rule from
Ok, So from what I'm getting a STAFF complaint has been filed for a PLAYER issue. As far as the ruling on titling in names go titles would have to be prefixed to the name (Lt Baldy McBaldie, Dr Not Arealperson.). I personally DON'T see any reason why it shouldn't be allowed, It may be a title if attached as a Prefix, but in this sense it is actually being used as their nickname.
As for it having no Ingame relation, Look at 90% of nicknames, Most of them make no sense.

It is a staff complaint as the mod at the time, Downpur, who I reported it too said 'no issue' and then argued with me about it for a bit. Even though 1. English server and 2. So many pop culture references, games, anime that it is included in.

I lived in japan for a while, Senpai is a suffix which is used to denote a person who is higher in rank of you or an upperclassman, not just an anime trend, example, if you're a PFC and addressing a CPL, you would say "Namehere-senpai!" or "Namehere-CPL".

[raughs in Japanese]
Yep, "senpai" is simply a honorific nearest in it's use to "senior". Basically someone higher-ranked, older than you, or your teacher (not just in school, generally someone more skilled). It's not anime. It's japanese.

Eh, weebshit. The thing wrong with it, is that it is a very popular nickame, and many people are called it primary or referred to in games or anime. Primary point being yandeere simulator, and I have no doubt there are many more.

Re: Breaking the name rule from
007 is not a allowed nickname, is it? Or 'Bond', the name is in multiple games, movies, that the rules state things that are in such things like popular movie or game series, and is not English, on a English only server.

A common Japanese word that is not english, I couldn't have 'Nahui' as a nickname, could I? Because it is in Russian

No, you couldn't have it because it's vulgar. I could list you russian words that would be perfectly fine as nicknames, but I don't think this is going anywhere anytime soon.Lucius Jones wrote:A common Japanese word that is not english, I couldn't have 'Nahui' as a nickname, could I? It is almost... as if... 'rule 2: Do NOT post in an complaint if you are not contributing as a witness.' is being broken.

Yeah, nicknames aren't as regulated. IRL, many people get nicknames related to real life people. One of the guys in my platoon (a Fire Support guy) was from California, so we constantly just called him "Hollywood".
