So this clown ruins my Sunday by screwing around with me and trolling mid-op until I get pissed enough to stab him. Yes it was not the right move to stab him, but I warned him repeatedly and I was just fed up and it was ruining my game. It was pretty true roleplaying for my character as well. Here's what happened.

My marine is standing with my squad on planet, during the op, waiting for orders, so I AFK for about 20 seconds while nothing is going on. I come back, and my vision is all blocked because I'm wearing a blindfold and muzzle. Haha, funny, whatever, but my character wears prescription glasses.

I find the guy who was having a giggle and ask for my glasses back, telling him he doesn't want to fuck with me. He says something like "but you're fun to fuck with." I follow him and get angry, telling him I need my glasses back. My vision is reduced to about 3 squares in every direction without them, which is a pretty big handicap. Eventually I start shoving him and he goes "I've hidden them" and continues to fuck with me. I REPEATEDLY ask my chain of command, who are all standing right there, to help me out or discipline this guy or otherwise stop this, and everyone ignores me.

I grab the guy and tackle him a few times and we scrap around the medbay. I ask again for help, SL and everyone ignores me. I jokingly ask for permission to stab mr. Big McJones, and the lance corporal goes 'permission granted,' which I'm sure he was also joking about. I wasn't planning on stabbing this guy, but I repeatedly told him to knock it off, punched him, did pretty much everything I could and he just wouldn't quit.
So I fucking stabbed him, and it was great. Now naturally everybody flips out and tackles me and starts beating the hell out of me and it's this gigantic deal, which I thought was kind of silly seeing as they completely ignored everything I had been saying and doing up to that point. If they hadn't have ignored me, including my SL, and just helped resolve the issue, I never would've gotten so pissed off.

Anyway I get arrested and escorted back to the ship and blah blah and a moderator starts messaging me, and then I get a 3 hour ban for 'inappropriate escalation!' What in the hell? My round was already ruined by this jackass and I was prepared to suffer the IN-GAME consequences and probably sit the rest of the round in the brig, maybe even be executed if the guy ended up dying, but then this mod feels the need to take this IN-GAME issue and give me an out-of-game BAN for it?

I feel this was ridiculous of the mod to escalate an in-game problem to this level. I can't appeal the ban since it's less than 24 hours, but it effectively ruined most of my playing time I had today. Why couldn't the issue be resolved in-game, which could've had some fun roleplaying. I've never even been to the brig before. I don't even know if the guy that started all this got a ban or warning or punishment at all which is why I'm reporting him here. If I'm going to get banned for an in-game issue, he should get banned for in-game trolling and bullshit that started all of this in the first place. If he wants to be a clown and ruin peoples games, he can go play clown or antag in regular SS13. The one and only CM server is not the place for it.

I've been playing on this server for awhile now, have made some friends and am a great roleplayer and never cause any problems, yet this troll wants to screw with me and get me in a situation that winds up getting me a ban and ruining my entire day. He deserves some sort of minor punishment as well, since this apparently can't just be resolved in-game.

Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc): There were lots of witnesses, but apparently no one was paying any attention to anything that happened until I stabbed him. The evidence is in the chat logs though of our conversation and my repeated warnings and appeals to chain of command to resolve the issue.

How you would punish the accused: I don't think a ban was appropriate at all as the issue would've been resolved in-game, but if I got one, Mr. "Big" should certainly get one as well. I didn't use ahelp because I thought this was an in-game issue, not worth bugging a mod over. Apparently I was wrong.

Thanks. It's not that big of a deal but according to the rules the guy was griefing me. Either we should both get banned or no bans at all and deal with the in-game punishment, I think.

Right as the mod in question here, I'm going to weigh in my side of events here.

Alan 'Big' McJones takes Jack Haldane's glasses, two minutes later Jack punches Alan three times, he gets punched back once. Nothing happens between the two (In terms of actual fighting) until a minute or so later Jack walks over and stabs the guy until his ribs are broken and he's got organ damage.

Now, I tried to ask and find out what had happened with regards to the actual event but I received no real explanation beyond "He tried to take my glasses" & "He continued to fuck with me". Without anything else to go on, I took the situation to be improper escalation.

I know it's your call, but I did expect it to be an in-game issue where I would receive whatever punishment was coming. I'd like to be clear about the rules because I don't want to get banned from the only CM server for something silly.

The guy was obviously griefing though, so the rules should apply equally. Should I just have used ahelp? Felt like I'd be whining about an in game issue which is why I didn't do it. Yes, stabbing him was not the best solution but I lost my temper. If I wanted someone to dick around with my guy and break my immersion, I'd play SS13 and get honked at by literal clowns. The xenos could've jumped us at any time and I would've been fighting half-blind, that's a little more than a harmless gag or some trolling.

I'll just cool off and come back tomorrow, and try not to carry over any nerd rage into new games when I get McDickbag in my squad again. No hard feelings Kernir, but being potentially executed if he did die would've been something lol.

My biggest issue was a lack of explanation and I'll be honest in saying that I mistook the situation, but given the information I had at hand at the time I think it was the correct call for what I understood then. I'm still a little iffy on the backing off, only to come back with a knife two minutes later after trying to get permission to stab someone. There clearly was a back and forth between you two before hand, going on for a few minutes however.
