Blatant Abuse of Marine Law as an MP, Griefing at the end of the round as an MP by denying my a headset AFTER releasing me and stating it was going to be destroyed.

Description of the incident:

This was near the end of the round, however I had not known it at the time. Earlier, in the round, I had walked into the CIC after MTs were called, to clean up blood or fix a mess my memory is not quite clear, hopefully logs can clear it up. In doing so, I had cleaned a LOT of blood with a spray bottle as was my job as an MT at the time. I at the time was told nothing about anything being evidence, as I was not there at the time of the crime, and it had occurred quite some time before I had arrived to the CIC. In the meantime, after cleaning the mess, I hacked my way out of the CIC due to the clutter, NEVER having been told to halt or was even being made aware of my apprehending for cleaning the blood that was not taped off.

Anyways, my character was then announced on the announcements that he had destroyed evidence, something I never was aware of. Admittedly, I broke my way into the ENGINEERING armory to defend myself from the rogue Synths, due to it being a code red at the time. After that, I went to the CL's office maint shafts, and assisted the CE and the Other MTs with breaking into the CL's office to help capture him, due to his suspicion of being with the rogue synths.

Anyways, after attempting to break into the CL's office with the CE and another MT, I get tazered by the MP in question. He then drags me to the brig saying that he was going to interrogate me.

Mind you, over the announcements he had called for all marines to assist with my arrest, in which was a breach in the rules, as only MPs can enforce marine law.

After I was brought to the brig, I was then interrogated for a lengthy time by the MP in question and another MP. This was some pretty nice RP but it was clear that the MP was trying to throw the book at me for charges that I was ICly and OOCly unaware I had commited, as it was never brought to my attention until I was told to be detained by the marines over announcements.

Anyways, after serving 10 minutes for possessing booze that I had hid in a bible, charged by the other MP. The MP in question told me that I was either going to serve time for tampering evidence if the gun I had sprayed with space cleaner came up clean, or be charged with terrorist collaboration if any evidence came back from the scans, which made absolutely NO sense to me.

After being released for my ten minute sentence, i told the MP that I wished to speak with the CMP to report him for his threats of telling me that "I'd never see the outside of a cell again". He then proceeded to flash me repeatedly and drag me out of the cell. When he dragged me out of the brig, he proceeded to strip me of ALL my gear besides my jumpsuit, INCLUDING the prisoner headset I still had. When i requested my standard headset, he confiscated the prisoner headset and told me he found an engineering headset that he was going to destroy. Mind you, this happened AFTER the round ended, but that is no excuse to commit these types of acts.

How you would punish the accused:

Honestly, I would want this MP to be warned for his behavior. However, I believe this is a clear abuse of the power and standing of an MP. I would hope that the accused could learn to NOT abuse his power and accuse people of crimes they were unaware of commiting, or accuse people of some pretty serious crimes despite the excuses for the arrest being EXTREMELY iffy and not holding water. However, there was a clear disregard of respect for marine law ICly and OOCly from this player, due to their actions near the end of the round. I am aware that MPs are held to a higher standard, and I do not believe the player in question meets this standard.

I REALLY did not want to make this report, but as it was near the end of the round, I am afraid my ahelp got missed by mods.

Also, a side not I forgot to mention in the initial post. Check the LOOC in the logs around the time I was brigged for the booze. A lot of if was a bit ic in ooc, and I had tried to divert it from getting to that. They mentioned me being lucky that the other MP had brigged me, which seems a bit distateful. I do not have screenshots of this encounter or incident.

Logs show you were held by the MPs/interrogated for maximum 15 minutes.
You say you were brigged for 10 minutes.
That's a total of 25 minutes of being detained by MPs.
That's less than the maximum for *just* tresspass. Plus, logs show the MPs roleplayed this nicely. (Booze + tresspass + resisting + breaking into an armory + hacking doors can add up to 2 hours)
I didn't find any abuse of the MP position or breach of the server rules there.

Logs confirm he flashed you two times ater your release for no reason, threatened to have you arrested some more if you didn't keep your suit sensors on, refused to give you your headset back, and stripped you from nearly everything, including your ID.

The threat about the suit sensors sounds like an IC issue, as long as he doesn't carry it out, plus it could be seen as just an order given to you.

Flashing you two times is borderline. It's no big deal and there was RP to support it, but it's clear abuse.
Refusing to return your headset goes against the marine law procedures, not good.
Stripping you was completely random and against server rules (cuz the ID), not good either.


TL;DR, MP flashed a prisoner randomly, stripped him randomly, and refused to return his headset randomly.

This report will be resolved by a manager soon(tm)

Thank you, I'd also like to ask if the logs were checked for the LOOC within that time. Some of it was a bit ic-ooc, and I believe the accused would gain from a little bit of clarification when it comes to saying IC stuff OOCly. It wasn't anything really bad, but it certainly did make things SUPER awkward when I was going to address things they had just mentioned in ic-ooc, or have felt compelled to address things. It wasn't too bad in this situation, but it really did kinda mess with the flow of things.

Edit: Also, if I recall correctly, someone had ordered for all the marines to hunt down the CL and bring them to the brig, or something along those lines, for a potential award or medal. All of that was done over announcements. However I am not 100% sure if it was done by the accused MP.

Right, so very sorry for forgetting about this player report. The MP in question will receive a job-ban due to breaking protocol and having a recent note history of doing so. Despite the longer process time, the wait will not have an impact on the overall result of the report. The player is free to appeal this on the forums to attempt to lift. Resolved - Riverson will receive an MP/CMP job-ban.
